I was there on Friday, bought a window sticker from you. Didn't get to chat as the stall was busy with others chatting to you. Same with Steph, you must all have had an exhausting weekend. It was great to see you, Matt and Steph in person. The show was amazing, I spent too much money on models in the autojumble! 😄 I'm currently looking for a classic car myself. When I get one, my Hubnut and I drive a classic stickers will be proudly displayed in the window. 😃 👍

My suggestion for the faded black plastic trim on the Corsa is Linseed oil. Don't use a heat gun it may look shiny for a while but ruins the plastic

@@MattBrownbill Yes, that will probably do the job for about the same time. n-butylacetaat, is the key ingredient. That actually reacts with the plastic surface. Owatrol just gives a nice protection-layer. Next spring I'll use B to B and finish it with Owatrol!

@@inspirality As a warning do not use a sharpie pen to change the colour of your cat. Someone tried that and did a horrible job. Yes that was stupid but so was the prosecution by the RSPCA. They argued something along the lines that the cat would be bullied as it looked weird. Then more stupid happened when the judge agreed.

Bella colour is really lovely... Miss Hubnut always a real star, working on the fleet. NB: Use a tiny drill bit and drill a hole in bottom of foggy indicator lens. To make plastic back to it's colour I do the following. Purchase 2K clear coat in two parts from a car paint factor. Mix up a dessert spoon full of both parts into a dish you don't want anymore. Then with gloves wipe it onto the plastic with a small cloth.Dont coat paint or glass as it's almost impossible to remove. Let it dry and it will last for many years. Be safe, don't inhale it or get it on your hands etc..

The first sunny dry day today in SW Scotland after two weeks of 'anticyclonic gloom' and up in the hills around me, 'anticyclonic drizzle', with farm vehicles turning the local roads into mudpits, I thought it might be a good idea to get some of the muck off the car today. So I took a trip to the nearest carwash, some 25 miles away. Only problem was getting home without getting the car mucky again as a result of mucky roads and truck spray. I somehow sort of managed it. Seems the roads to the Brum NEC from west Wales on Friday were rather drier than here, so didn't spoil all your hard work polishing up the Berlingo.🙂

Ive found that the only semi-permanent solution to faded plastic trim (after all, nothing is truly permanent) is Wurth dye. It's rather expensive, but I applied some to the bumpers of Hayley, my 205 GRD you reviewed several years ago, and 18 months later it's still looking good. It is a dye, however, so its a good idea to mask off the edges, as it has a tendency to dye the paintwork.

For the Citroen lettering I would 1. Remove the letters and clean the area. 2. Apply a length of blue painters tape across immediately below where you want the letters, as a level guide. 3. Cut or tear pieces of tape per letter piece, stick them somewhere temporarily. 4. Glue the letters on and retain with the pieces of blue painters tape from step 3.

And off on a completely different tangent, Coors Lite beer in the US uses shoe polish greatly diluted of course to flavour and colour their mountain fresh product. At least, that's the rumour, and I must say, remembering a tinge of the old Kiwi brown paste taste, that's a fair description of this delightful brew. Burp. Of course, Kiwi polish originated in Australia, so fair's fair.

Recently tested in the USA again, same old 200 to 1 BS. It's actually naptha gasoline, whatever you call that in the UK. Normally used in pump up Coleman camping stoves, and a lot cheaper when purchased that way. Plus, you can ditch the cicus barker 200 to 1 nonsense that makes it "magic" and give your car a right good glug for not much money.

Congratulations you have discovered the Citroen patented chassis corrosion preventer, aka porous metal cover. BLMC had a similar genius cork rocker cover gasket that hardened and leaked oil down the back of the A series engines in the front wheel drive cars which took out the rubber drive couplings.
@BillMalcolm-tn3kq
@BillMalcolm-tn3kq 10 күн бұрын
Back in the early '60s, Volvo used to use cork rocker cover gaskets. Of course, they did have a recommendation that after adjusting the valves, you use a new gasket. After 23 uses because "Well, it still looks all right to me," one wonders if it was BLMC's fault the darn thing leaked.
@pw601
@pw601 9 күн бұрын
They were even when new miss shapen, requiring to be glued onto the rocker cover to stand any hope of preventing leaks. That took almost as long as adjusting the tappets. Little wonder garages didn't bother to replace them, relying on over tightening the retaining nuts.

I honestly applaud the attempts at repairing. I'm a big enjoyer of a 'temporary' bodge. But that badge was tragic. Just buy a new one which will be complete with sticky adhesive, I'm sure. Then you can use some really drastic measures to line it up and such and make a video about the attempt. Also, I know there's a well justified fear of steering wheel covers slipping and being dangerous. But I'm sure there are some good quality covers out there that could tidy up the way the wheel looks and feels.
