DS 21 ASMR anyone? I thought I'd show a few aspects of the DS, especially after having some major work completed throughout. The video will reveal how much there is for me to learn about its nuances.
Shooting in 4k certainly reveals all the dust and dirt- it could need a thorough detailing inside and out. Yes I admit I was a little rough on slamming the doors. Also, you’ll notice that the pump cycle time is frequent, though all spheres were replaced and checks for any leaks continue to be monitored. There is some wetness in the undercarriage, though it’s from before the recent fixes. It did have air conditioning before, though the condenser was taken out as we wanted to concentrate on getting the engine and transmission rebuild completed and functioning per spec. Plus we really never used the air con. At a later time, it can be put back in and reinstalled.
Overall, the DS idles, accelerates, shifts, and brakes so much better than before, and I’ve noticed a slight bump in torque after the engine was modified to Euro spec. To me, it’s like a whole new DS. Dad and I used to be in constant worry about the engine potentially overheating, especially in Southern California’s warm/hot climate, though after recent work, it’s working marvelously! I drove the DS from Citroen Classics of America back to home, which was a 145 mile drive in constant 95-100 degree temperature through moderately hilly freeways driving about 65-70mph, plus some bumper to bumper traffic, and it stayed consistently below 3/4 of the white portion of the temperature gauge. It was actually one of the most enjoyable drives I’ve had with the DS knowing that it sailed through really hot and strenuous driving conditions.
My dad was one the biggest DS enthusiasts who devoted so much love and attention to his own, and over time we’ve brought it to much better condition than when he acquired it in 2010.

I had a DS21. The police used to write fines by claiming that the brake pedal had too much travel. They were stumped when they saw the rubber ball.

My favorite classic car. I live en grew up in the Netherlands nearby Amsterdam, and in my youth it was a normal sight on the road these cars. I ones owned a Citroen CX, but the DS will always be my favorite. This one however is in a beautifull shape, and i am in love with the blue color. And offcourse the two-tone roof.

C'était le bon temps....mon père eut la première ID 19 avec le toit en plastique...puis une autre ..puis trois DS 19, une 21 PALLAS , un D super sa Derniere ...c'était la reine de la route , tout simplement et sur les mauvaises verglacées ,enneigées ......sur le sable de la plage en position haute .....sur les petits chemins boueux campagnards ...seule la déesse allait ,passait et vous ramenait toujours une Jeep des terrains impraticables qui revenait sur la nationale a 16O KMh....oui messieurs dames .....sans limitation de vitesse c'était pas le bon temps du baby boomer qui vous ecrit......c'était le paradis ...à toi ma déesse éternelle auto d'amour .....je t'aime toujours mes hommages aux ingénieurs du bureau d'études du quai de Javel et à monsieur BERTONI qui t'a dessinée ...bravos messieurs les champions révérence éternelle pour vos talents ....une histoire de France automobile magique ....une page qu'on ne refermera jamais une automobile à verser au patrimoine mondial de l'Unesco .....PAS MOINS....certes il a pléthore de belles et bonnes voitures , mais il n'y eut et n'y aura jamais qu'une déesse....salut ma belle tu hanteras encore les souvenirs de petit garçon assis si longtemps devant ou derrière et d'homme qui eut le privilège de te conduire .....merci mon Dieu ce fut exquis ....SIMPLY THE BEST....l'honneur de la France 🇫🇷 qu'aucune autre ne sut porter si haut ....BRAVISSIMO.....comme les héros , tu ne mourras jamais .....jamais ...JA....MAIS ❤️👏❤️👏❤️👏🇮🇹🇫🇷🇮🇹🇫🇷👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌

Une ode à la DS, une déclaration d’amour mieux que toutes les pubs du monde. Il y a toujours eu des Ds dans ma famille. Mon père, 3 dont une de 1957 (liquide rouge qui pissait), puis moi-même 4 dont la dernière une 23 IE de 1974, extraordinaire voiture, jamais eu mieux. Actuellement aux mains d’un collectionneur célèbre, restaurée comme neuve. Et maintenant mon fils qui les collectionne!

The Most Comfortable car i have ever Driven, was lucky enough to drive DS 21 in 1973 brand new, from London to Manchester & back & i was 21 years old & till this day nothing has come near its comfort. With its Stunning Interior and smooth ride Headlights that turn when you turn around corners, just absolutely Fabulous Car, & you don't need to jack it up to change a wheel. Stunning.

it was and still is a futuristic and ahead of its time with technology unheard-of in those days. My dad was one of the first to own the SM version in early seventees, to this day still an eye dropping car.

Une magnifique restauration pour ce mythe de l'automobile française. Je note que vous avez conservé la plaque d'immatriculation française à l'arrière. En France les phares à l'avant étaient protégés par une vitre. Que de souvenirs, mon papa a possédé plusieurs DS et ID19. Merci pour ce partage.

Fun facts. The DS/ID cars have the fuel tank under the rear seat. The later DS 23 Pallas cars have self closing front doors, the rear doors are not self closing. The DS23 Pallas have two sets of horns , a normal set of twin horns, and a set of Italian Fiamm air horns. Pulling the horn lever towards you actuates the normal horns, pulling the lever all the way actuates both sets of horns .

Beautiful Citroen. Stunning interior, very stylish. Must be nice driving it, I imagine it would be a smooth ride. Especially with its pneumatic suspension.

So true. There is no other car in the world with a more comfortable suspension and ride! (Except some Rolls Royce and Mercedes models which had the hydropneumatic suspension system under license from Citroen!)

La marque Citroën a bien contribué à l'évolution de l'automobile d'ailleurs avec l'apparition de la fameuse DS elle a pu démontrer qu'elle était belle et bien en avance sur plein d'autres marques

Beautiful condition. I owned a DS 21 Non Pallas for 9 years until 13 months ago. 5 speed manual with fuel injection. Easily the most comfortable car l have owned.

These Cars have always been one I would love to own . You don't see many in the US, the only Citroen I have seen is a couple of 2CVs and I like them also. The DS 21 is my dream Car. Thanks for the video.

Did you know that, with the hood open, for example for an engine inspection, you did not need to return to the passenger compartment to start. A starter was next to the battery! Practical during mechanical interventions! Savez-vous que sur les modèles à double phares, les longues portées tournaient avec les roues, éclairant l’intérieur des virages!!

Thanks for asking. Citroen Classics of America modified the cylinder heads and valve seats, and I believe also worked on intake and exhaust

What engine oil you used? Too much noise indicates bad lubrication..I can help you to reduce the noise , extend engine life, reduce emissions and save ⛽️

That model has an automated hydraulic powered clutch if I am correct. The third pedal is the handbrake.

It has no clutch pedal. But two idle-rev-speeds. If you press the brake the revs drop to 800 rpm. With released brake it revs at 1000 rpm. The clutch starts to get in contact and to slip a little. The car begins to roll. If the rev gets higher the clutch closes more. Nice and easy to drive if everything is maintained perfectly. If not - ...

I dont get this. You can buy a Fort T wreck, drop a semi engine in it, shop the roof off and lower the suspension to the point it sparks when you drive on the flattest highway and it's road legal somehow. But french road legal lights? Non monsieur!

The suspension spheres is not original (at least not at the front). Should be of the old, divisible type, not the sealed CX-type! A bit slow on raising. And the rear end should raise first, not the front!

Always loved the design and the comfort of the DS21, but the build quality was horrible. Blue and red are a perfect colour scheme for this innovative car from the mid 1950s. Good luck!

Et tu fus sublimée en coupes et cabriolets CHAPRON version 1 et 2 phares ronds et phares tournants trois chefs d'œuvre aussi belles les unes que les autres meme si je préfère le DANDY série 2!!!!!!!les autres sont aussi magnifiques ....Peuple , à genoux ,laissez passer la déesse .....il n'y en a qu'une .....rien avant ....rien après .....

هذه السيارة فيها خلل في النظام الهيدروليكي أول ماتبدأ التشغيل ترتفع من الخلف أولا ثم من الأمام وهذه فيها العكس كنت أعشق هذا النوع وامتلكت منه ثلاثة واحدة منهم عائلية

Brake- and tail-lights in the same lamp. Not very good. The original french/european arrangement with separate brake- and tail-lamps is much better, and safer!
