Sometimes in the garage, just coming to a greater understanding of a systems intricacies is progress. Difficult to capture this on video, but a good portion of your viewers will fully appreciate this. Nice work 🍻

Absolutely brilliant news...I love this car and hope although a massive project, you manage to get it right.

The aluminium mount looks like it could be manufactured by a tamed lathe operator, assuming there's no hidden plumbing deep inside of it, they could probably just turn a chunk of aluminium down into that part relatively easily, it's just getting the holes drilled in the right places and getting the threads right... :)
@SeasideGarage Жыл бұрын
Yea I am pretty sure it would be a easy task for a lathe operator!
@theotherchannel2279 Жыл бұрын
That is pretty good news. I am looking forward to seeing this finished. No pressure mate!
@SeasideGarage Жыл бұрын
LOTS of pressure! Otherwise the car would not rise... :P

Again a very nice Citroën project! Thanks a lot for posting. 👍 Did you know, that swedish youtuber "Citromec" is also restoring his BX 4×4 now? Perhaps you can help each other with experiences, tools, parts, etc to get two really nice "new" scandinavian BX😊
@byronmills5952 Жыл бұрын
The complete BX 4x4 rear suspension set up was also fitted to the Peugeot 405 4x4. Whilst these are now also extremely rare - it may widen your search possibilities in looking for a replacement aluminium mount. 🙂👍👍

It is a progress of sort and great news!! It hopefully means it is very much viable project!

Most Excellent! Good luck with the Aluminium block 👍

You might be able to get that part from Pleiades based in Sawtry in the UK. They are long standing Citroen hydraulics specialists in the UK 😀

I would just get the hole TIG welded up, and then you could drill and tap the hole. I think that would be easier than trying to find a replacement.

Hi there Seaside, I’m sure you do along with all your readers, but did you know that Bently vehicles use the same spherical system that Citroen uses, they didn’t even take the Citroen packaging off, they just dropped it into the Bently packaging like how cheap was that 😮 Niiiiiiiiiiice video 😊

I've been told the same thing by a reliable source ; that Mercedes benz does this same shady practice but they will charge M B and Bentley prices. 🤨 💷💷
@martinparker9249 Жыл бұрын
those spheres look like accumulator spheres as they have a bored out opening whereas they should have a valve ? check UPnDOWN channel ....his BX GTI had them fitted by mistake on the front
@SeasideGarage Жыл бұрын
They should be the correct for the 4x4...
@grayfool Жыл бұрын
That's pretty good progress in my book. How about getting an adapter for the big ole down to the correct size for the pipe fitting? I would think that a machine shop could turn that out for very little cost.

Think making an insert for that larger thread with the correct one in the centre of it would be the easiest repair. But if you can find a replacement, even better!
@mikeymike3240 Жыл бұрын
Why not get the alloy suspension block alloy welded, re drilled and tapped out to the correct thread, bobs your uncle…..l.job done!😊
@georgeross9834 Жыл бұрын
A steel insert would work a small lathe owner could do it

My old BX 1.4 used to lift the front first..... hmm or was it the rear first? Definitely not both at the same time. I used to lower it every night to watch the surprise on the kids faces when I switched it on in the morning 😮😮😮😮

Rears on all Bxs sink faster than the front. As the fronts on later Bxs have a anti sink method.

Drill the hole out to a larger diameter and then use a bushing.

If the aluminium base is the same as in CX accumulator sphere then there should be an insert that converts the large thread into a small one.
@SeasideGarage Жыл бұрын
Great knowledge!
@atuja70 Жыл бұрын
Those are not suspension spheres. They’re accumulator one’s :)

Yeah i had a BX with accumulator spheres on front struts.. rode with it for couple of months until realising they’re wrong😂

Shooting-brake my friend......But this isn't what I like to call a brake. These days, high performance cars with a "wagon" style cabin, are shooting-brakes. This....this is just a wagon, by todays standards, or as it's called in Britain, an "estate car". Wagon, and shooting-brake mean the same thing, but these days, the term shooting-brake is used only with higher performance cars. This sort of fits the brake body conversion, but really it doesn't. Have you ever seen a modern Corvette shooting-brake conversion? Pretty crazy. Don't get sick cleaning mouse urine, buddy.
@SeasideGarage Жыл бұрын
Actually Citroen for some reason call their estates for Break or Evasion... :) Yea its pretty nasty stuff that urine...

@@SeasideGarage Funny! 😄 Typical French way of doing everything... "do everything different than everyone else, for better or worse." Google Shooting Brake Corvette. Many wild brake conversions. The one that tops them all tho, is the 1968 Corvette SportWagon. It's got a big 572 in it, and matches a modern Hellcat, in torque, and HP. Callaway did a conversion of a Vette a few years ago. They call it the AeroWagon. it was $144,000 new, and makes almost 800hp too.
@DetroitMicroSound Жыл бұрын
@@SeasideGarage Only really Britain calls wagons estates, it seems. It's a bit of a pretentious term, in use, these days. You won't hear Richard Hammond calling one an estate, but you will hear Jeremy Clarkson call it that. 😄 Estates are utility vehicles, for buying flowers in the spring, or sending your help to buy groceries....Not what you drive to a dinner party.
@Ford_TImelord Жыл бұрын
@@DetroitMicroSound 'Shooting Brakes' used to be two door High performance station wagons although I think some companies have changed this for their four door high performance wagons. The term wagon being not liked in the USA. The french call all station wagons 'breaks' in the same way wagons in Germany are called 'Kombi' I'm not sure 'Estate' is more pretentious that 'station wagon' which makes it sound like the owner owns in a ranch in the mid west? .
