I’ve since fitted X8R replacement foam seals to the rear light units and removed the silicone from them. I’d definitely recommend them over the silicone method shown here as although the silicone stops the leaks, the new seals make it much easier when it comes to removing the lights units replace bulbs etc. This other video shows fitting the new seals: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fHWniZKVmsupbqssi=Agv0NnGmYkVtX7GY

18mins and 24 seconds in. Looking at the top right of screen image, look down to the first rusty screw hole, below that you can see a foam insert that is almost rectangle but the inner edge is angled. That is a further leak point that gets overlooked. Its foam, soaks full of water and then drips inside. I sprayed mine up on both sides with a tent water proofing spray as I had done all the other common areas and still had a leak. In addition, directly below the rear boot lid release button in the bumper is a tiny water drain hole, This allows water to drip into the inside of the bumper. I got a bit of plumbers putty and blocked it up, now the water just runs down over the outside of the boot, not into the inner side of the boot. Hope these two additional tips help.

@@StupidBlokeStupidVideos Hi, my boot doesn't show any wet in the boot at all and so presume my top and side light fix was ok but its condensation in the right wet conditions is just as bad. Im trying to believe your description of the vent flaps are some how leaking past the boot and making its way into the back foot well but the carpets are dry. The trouble is, the carpet is all one piece so if the water is getting underneath? but i cant feel any damp because it feels like there is a plastic membrane stopping it reaching the actual carpet if that makes any sense! I suppose ill just have to try forcing one side foot well carpet up a bit and see if there is any water there and if there is then either the rear door seals or the rear flaps maybe to blame or maybe using a cheap damp meter on the carpets before i start using brute force!? as its only done 25,000 miles .....

When I resealed my back lights I used some thick foam draught excluder to make a new gasket. For the high-level brake light I did the same way but I think I also installed a new gasket in addition to using sealant. Seemed to do the trick as it's been fine for a few years now and before that it was pretty much a swimming pool in the boot and the other strange thing was I used to get a puddle of water in the ceiling liner around the interior light ... didn't seem to be the aerial fixing leaking so I think somehow the water was getting from the high level brake light along the ceiling liner ... is that even possible? Anyway that hasn't happened again since I resealed all the back lights.

Instant thumbs up for Ievan Polkka. :) My '13 Aygo also has this issue. It appeared within a few weeks of my purchase and I ended up taking it back on warranty several times. They had a hard time locating the actual source as it appeared to require the car to sit at just the right angle with the rain coming from the right direction. They stripped the poor thing down to the bare chassis, refitted all gaskets and schmooed everything in the end. And at the time, they did appear to have solved it. Of course, the issue reappeared after a while, but by that time, I just couldn't be arsed to take it back in again. It's not as severe now as it was in the beginning, but water does accumulate over time. I guess I'll have to do some reschmooing. :)
@StupidBlokeStupidVideos2 жыл бұрын
That will probably be the vents, I forgot to say in the vid but they tend to piss in worse when parked on an angle like one side on the kerb, which makes sense if you look where they are. If they just refitted the gaskets then chances are they’ve coke back out as they fall to bits and rot over time.

Sounds like you’ve had bad luck. Apart from the leaking which is particularly common, they’re usually one of the most reliable and easiest/cheapest to service and repair cars on the road! The power steering ecu is a known issue too but not massively common, usually it’s the power steering ecu thar fails but can be got pretty cheap second hand

@@StupidBlokeStupidVideos yeah but after the 3rd leak and some mold and also high pitched squeaking when i turn the AC on (could be AC belt or Alternator belt struggling) i really lost the enthusiasm to fix the damn car, at least it passed the registration with no problems so there's that, other than that the car does drive nicely but the gear changing you really have to get used to, cause you aint going from 3rd to 2nd wihtout puting it in neutral, tapping the gas and then putting it in 2nd or you have to super slow down ...
