He has removed a wear collar and replaced it with a larger bolt….ie the collar/bushing can’t be replaced anymore so the aluminum will now be wearing. Given the price of the clutch though I’d do the same if I had the skills! Look at the price of a new snowmobile clutch for a Skidoo!!!! Yikes. I learned the hard way to maintain the one you’ve got. I’ve learned a great deal from Mustie for sure!

Yeah what's wrong with that air impact gun he has? It should have had the torque to do that. Snap-on half inch impact guns are no joke. It's the strongest gun you can buy. That one is roached out. I think new they're 600 ft pounds? But the vanes and the cylinder goes in them. You have to keep them oiled. I put oil in my pneumatic tools before every use. To the point where oil pisses out of them. I take oil daily seriously.

I know that sometimes you may say or think that some of your videos are too long or that you have too many videos on one of your projects. Well.......I'm betting that one of the reasons most of your viewers love your channel and keep coming back is that you always keep it as real as you can. One of the ways you do that is with longer videos and multiple videos that aren't fake and don't contain bullshit. Yes, this one contains dog shit, and lots of it, but it proves my point of you keeping it real. 🤣 There are tons of half ass or fake youtube mechanic videos out there. Yours is not one of them. Keep up the awesome work!!

Welding the nut on top of the broken bolt: sheer genius. Well done, Darren.
@1pcfred13 сағат бұрын
It's a common technique. It usually doesn't work as good as what we saw here but this was the perfect application for it. The heat from welding burnt out the locktite. I was surprised with that snot he had on the end of the wire he got it to weld as good as he did. He burned it in good though. Plus that bolt was protruding so much. He had a lot to weld to and he went with a big nut. That was a good choice. He should have quenched it before he started wrenching on it. When it's hot the weld is still gooey. Plus quenching it contracts the hardware. But it worked so good it wasn't an issue. He made every mistake and it still worked.

17:41 Differential heating plus a rapid cool down in a bucket of water. We are dealing with very dissimilar metals; aluminum which transfers heat much better than most any metal and a steel core. I think it was bound for success, more so than steel on steel. GOOD WORK!

If you're in there doing the work there's an argument for putting a new part in then. So you don't have to go back any time soon and do the job again. When I do jobs I'll change as much as I can new.
