Citroen C4 Picasso- timing belt replacement, every 60000 miles (100000 km) or 4 years.
Our Citroen C4 Picasso , has 1.6 l HDI, inline 4 cylinder 110 hp turbocharged engine.
But the process is similar for all Citroen diesel engines.
Timing belt kit replacement includes- belt, pulley, tensioner and water pump.
I suggest to replace the water pump together with the timing belt if you deside to purchase separately the parts.
In this video you will see the full process of how to replace Citroen C4 Picasso timing belt and how to tension it properly.
As most of you know, if you tight to much the timing belt, you will have engine knocking sound and high risk of engine brake down. If the belt is to slack, can be even worst, skipping or teeth jumping can also cause an engine brake down.
The only special tool you need is the timing pin set, made for these type of engines, so you can lock the engine on timing, when 1st cylinder is in TDC.
As we know we have common rail system, and does not require a pin to be inserted into the fuel pump gear, but in my video I will insert it because the installation of the new belt is more easy.
