All your points pretty spot on, I got mine because of hydro suspension, cup holders didn't come into it. I would have liked some sort of key illumination, it's a bit fiddly inserting the ignition key in the dark. I appreciate the rain sensing wipers more than I thought I would. Spectacularly quite, comfortable, economical long distance tourer, great on dirt roads.

I'm glad you find it so agreeable! I had an illuminated keyhole in my Volvo S60, and honestly, I don't really miss it. I guess it's for those long Northern European nights...

I love the night mode button for the dashboard lights in my C4. It's much easier to focus on scanning for kangaroos and other wildlife which are prevalent on the highways here at night.

Citroen Estates often looked better than their Saloons. Estates are very rare in my country (Malaysia) but we have a faithful following. My current ride is a petrol THP DS4 (2012) which has about 250,000 kms which I have clocked since new. Still running good with no squeaks.

One of the main reasons for buying that car was that fantastic giant glassroof that makes you interior look so bright on cloudy days and give the passengers such a cool outlook while driving. No car on the market had that at this time! I'm not shure if you could have it with the baseline model...

Excelent video, let's not forget the USB outlet, which is inside that cup holder/storage area, and if you have a normal sized USB that sticks out quite a bit, you can't put your bottle or coffee in there. I had to buy a small outline USB, so that I can use that space, and as you correctly mentioned, you'll need to learn how to twist your right arm, in order to pick up and put back the coffee from back there. But hey, that's the reason why citroenistas love citroens. For doing things differently. And that rear brake light and washer fluid tube. I s'ppose it's normal in these models. The rear light cable brakes on it's own, due to age, but also because of the bend that it takes. It's not positioned correctly from a design stand point. It should follow a more gentle curve, so that it doesn't brake. I added a small piece of additional wire, and repositioned that rubber canal a couple of centimeters to the right, and the curve is way better, and never had any issues again. That sticky tape job.....looks too amature, and if the tech guy cut that rubber canal, in order to fix the wire inside, I worry that something bad may happen again. Same thing with the washer tube. I put a plastic 4mm 90° elbow, the one used in gardening, and added a small piece of silicone tube, exactly the same way as yours. The difference being that the silicone tube is more flexible and soft, and bends easier, contrary to that PU piece of tube that was place there in your case, which is a bit more stiff. The only thing to worry with these two fixes, is the spoiler. The whole spoiler needs to be removed, either for the brake light fix or the washer tube, and once removed, you need new rubber gaskets for the two screws that hold it in place, which pass through the glass. Special care should be taken for these two screws, and they should be sealed properly when the spoiler is placed back in position. Sure hope the guy who made those fixes, did a good job, although I don't think many have my mentality in such small fixes. Be back in a jiffy with pics.
@comcarclub
@comcarclub 2 жыл бұрын
The guy who did the job of replacing both the tube AND the wiring was me 😁. Seriously, it feels more or less tight, I think there's a good chance of it lasting.
@mr_nice.
@mr_nice. 2 жыл бұрын
@@comcarclub .....good job there, I hope you didn't cut the rubber to reach the wires inside. Here's my fix. postimg.cc/QB4cctbP postimg.cc/CzsBj5MN the red line is the initial entry point, and I moved it to the right a bit so that the bend is now more gentle. Previously, I had noticed it from the start, it was bending way harder. I'm amazed it lasted as long as it did. And as for the washer tube, postimg.cc/WdtZTjjw postimg.cc/d7rLVVfr Being afraid that the silicone tube might rub a bit too much on the metal, I decided to wrap it in some wire wrap Otherwise I think it's the same as yours. The only thing I worry about are the two rubber seals on the screws that pass through the glass. Mine were destroyed, and I couldn't find new ones fast, so I used rubber valves for toilet flushers that I had lying around. Made a hole in the middle, and passed that screw, works fine so far. 👍👍👍👍👍

@@comcarclub ....oh and also, I stay away from sticky tapes because of their adhesive. As they age, the adhesive either dries out and they unwind, or they unwind with the adhesive still there, and when you try to undo them, you get your hands all sticky and dirty ....bliah.....I advise people to stay as far away from sticky tapes as possible. Only in emergencies. 👌👌👌

@mr_nice.
@mr_nice. Жыл бұрын
@@us3804 ....I don't thinks so buddy. Haven't searched though. But Mr. Comfortable car club is planning to make one about the washer fluid line, probably using 4/6mm aquarium silicone tube. At least he said so. So stay tuned. I fixed my front sprinklers using that aquarium tube, and it seems to be holding fine. And it's cheaper than the pure silicone tube I've used for the rear sprinklers. Only drawback: you need to secure it in the plastic fittings using zip ties. If you just push it in, it comes off due to pressure. Small price to pay though. 👍👍👍👍

Hey Mr C5 X7, thanks for the great vid. I’ve just replaced my 2013 C5 X7 hydro pneumatic. Loved it but the infotainment head died and a couple of small things like some hail damage. But I now drive C5 X turbo (not Hybrid). Love it also but the 2013 had more LUX about it n in the cabin. C5X has more Tech n I need that. Love Citroën.

@10:35 are you sure it's oilpressure? If my memory is OK, i think it was the more usefull iol temperature in my ( well specced Exclusive ) 1.6 THP Tourer. The boot was much smaller then the boot of Phase 1. What I missed in the Tourer coming from the 1st gen. Break, was the option to just open the rear window in stead off the complete tailgate.

02: 23 I have a question : I can't really understand how some people find it comfortable to sit like that with the knees bended to 90 degrees. Instead , i push the seat as much and as long as i can command the pedal with largest angle possible at the knee with a straigthen up back rest and a much lower and pulled back steering wheel , thus having a steeing wheel as perpandicular as possible and " Not in my face". Sorry to say but , this driving position looks to me as if he was driving a panel van or somethink like that or an SUV ....... that I hate too.

I'm realising how odd the spec of my car is. It's just like this one but it has the hydractive suspension for some reason. Perhaps because of the 2.2 engine, did they get it by default?
@comcarclub
@comcarclub 2 жыл бұрын
I believe so. 2.2, 2.7 and, later, 3.0hdi got the suspension as standard. I believe all 1.6 diesels are conventional spring setups, while the 2 litre engines had it as an option. I don't know about the petrols, though, they were never sold in the country I live in

This generation C5 is very beautiful, and I really wanted it. It's also very true that this model was "German ish", and you can also see that the space inside, and especially in the back has increased, where everything is more compact. I also see some similarities between the C5 and my DS5, 😊logically enough. I had a period where I didn't follow the brand that much, where I now find the cars really being on the right track. I wish they could come with a new luxury model, but we have the DS9 which I'm thinking of buying. Which engine do you have in your C5? I love your videos by the way 😊

No cup holder. This was due to French employment unions wanting their workers to have time for sit down coffee and not wanting fast food. I worked for Elf Oil and Renault for 10 years, in the 90’s and was a very contentious issue.

@comcarclub
@comcarclub 2 жыл бұрын
@@Croking54 ah, my apologies for the confusion. I had no idea hydropneumatic suspension had an impact on any of that. Still, I'd love a 2 litre with hydractive myself. 250000 km sounds like a lot but isn't, as I'm finding out.
@ciaranwebb6871
@ciaranwebb6871 2 жыл бұрын
@@Croking54 Yeah, I think it's more the slightly old fashioned auto gearbox there. You'll get good fuel consumption on the open road as it can "lock up" directly to the engine and there's no losses. It can't really do this in town however and the gearbox generates a lot of efficiency loss. Other than the weight I don't think the hydro really affects economy (that i'm aware of)
@carbonara2144
@carbonara2144 2 жыл бұрын
@@ciaranwebb6871 Exactly. Difference in fuel consumption is higher with the automatic transmission. I got mine specifically with manual as the combined consumption was 1,5 liter less per 100 km. Automatic in C5 is more comfortable ofc but that comes with a price.
