I just completed I 5500km road trip from Oslo to Finnmark with a long, 8seater, Toyota Proace electric, identical car. My average consumption was 270wh/km. This with skibox, 8 persons and the car packed to maximum weight. From Bodø and home had an average of 260wh/km. I saw 220wh/kw in the hottest days with flat roads and almost 400wh/km the coldest days with rain and hilly roads. On motorways I use 320wh/km as reference and I used 300wh/km as worst case when I calculated my range. GOM seems to be more accurate below 50%, but only for lower speed around 80. It still optimistic for motorways.

I just got a new LWB one of these at an insane price in the UK (20k inc vat - supposed to be 52k 🤣) and I had to drive it back across England. I can confirm the motorway range at 9degrees was 170miles at 62mph (plus whatever buffer it has so maybe 180). Interestingly, the van shows as having 76kwh battery when connected to a rapid. So it seems the city range really will be 200+ miles. Very impressive coming from an ENV200.

Your time accuracy is very likely all that is really needed. If you are curious on how to work with time in spreadsheet, my idea: Do everything in seconds. Then format the cell to "hh:mm:ss". For example if you want to enter a time; =(3600*1+60*33+21)/86400, then format the cell as above. But it might be overkill for your application. Really appreciate your content, even if only 5% of the vehicles you test are available in the USA.

You need to try acceleration when not in eco mode. Eco is limiting your power.
@ArjanMels3 жыл бұрын
I also noticed (with my Zafira e-Life, which is a PSA sibling) that the max power is limited for a while (10-15 minutes) after fast charging (maybe due to limiting of heating of the batteries?). With full power available acceleration is decent (also from 80-130km/h) With power limited (ECO mode or just after fast charging) it is less then desirable.

I would argue that those vans are mostly driven commercially. Like as Taxi, Shuttle service and the likes. Oslo is actually probably one of the worse cases for an airport shuttle considering how far outside the city Gardermoen really is. A shuttle bus that needs a charging stop roughly coinciding with the required break for the driver is perfect. If it can run for a whole day without re-charging that would be even better, but i believe that will take some time. If one sees a van as a family car, than we have to compare it with the likes of a Tesla Model X although of course there is some price point difference.

Or you worked for a company and have to drive it for them. But i always loved the build type of the van. It would be the ultimate family car. It would be the ultimate vacation car. It would be the ultimate moving from house to house car. So technically the van/bus is the perfect vehicle. And now that it is electric no diesel! No expensive roadtax! And maybe now it is electric you don’t need to have a grey licenseplate for it ( it is for people that want to use a bus privately outside their company)

I think Bjorn could slowly start to incorporate adding 80kgs of stuff into the car, just to simulate what the range is having another person in the car, which is most normal. 3 is too much, just one is too little. What do you think, Bjorn ? Right now, we are kind seeing only the best/ideal scenario, in terms of passengers. Of course, this is just a suggestion. You started all this and you are the person who is doing endless kilometres/miles, so take this suggestion kindly. Though it would create a mess of your tests/ for the existing numbers tables. On second thought, just continue as you are , we do not want to confuse you or make your life more difficult! Just curious of your opinion on this. I think EV manufacturers should include on the specifications a 80% to 10% range test, with a passenger and some stuff/baggage added, (lets say 100kg/220pounds total weight to simulate the scenario), into the equation/tests they do. It is usually the more common profile, right ?
