From your Kiger EV video, it appears more premium and a better looker. Citroen should get their game straight if they want to have good market share. Mirror stalks from early 2000s, halogen headlights and very basic equipment aren’t going to get them anywhere.

Interesting to see that they have gone with Air cooled batteries. Nissan Leaf had initially gone with the same strategy and I remember reading a research paper somewhere which said of all the electric vehicles available Leaf showed the maximum battery degradation, Leaf was the only one with air cooled batteries

I don't have the exact link, but i think he's referring to the study done by a company called geotab. And leaf batteries had really bad degradation. I remember reading this in Nissan leaf forums as well. You Google Nissan leaf forums if you're interested. But the difference here is that Citroen has LFP battery which has more than twice the life cycle of the leaf battery which was NMC.

Prismatic matic cells are more prone to swelling than cylinderic cells. Combine that with lack of liquid cooling I doubt how this setup will fare through indian summers

It has lfp battery..this is latest type....better than li ion in all terms...safety and lifespan very good...it doesn't catch fire,life of battery...100%capacity retains upto 3000 cycles...check lfp vs li ion on google...

If the batteries get too hot or too cold, their performance can be diminished, and they can experience permanent damage. Designers can choose between a variety of passive and active cooling technologies to manage the thermal environment of EV batteries. In the longer term, higher-performance BTMS will be required to enable the use of XFC technology.

I think that top speed is capped at 107km/hr due to 2 reasons: 1. The weaker motor and 2. Above this speed the aerodynamic drag due to it shape might be too draining on the batteryand difficult for the 57 HP output motor to handle

-10 to 50 degrees is the absolute range for typical LFP's. The thermal management system in modern day EV's do more than just cooling , typically these systems are also used to warm the batteries to keep it in a safe operating range. Lack of such temperature management cooling would mean that charging and discharging currents would be severely affected since aggressive current derating needs to be done at lower and at higher temperature ranges.Not sure if this makes a big difference while driving since the motor power consumption is on the lower side but charging times could be severely affected at lower temperatures. But again, I would not buy it if it is expected to be used in any place where the temperature goes below 0. Usually battery manufacturers don't honor warranties if the batteries were exposed to temperatures below -10 degrees.

LFP battery is good to see. Surprised that they didn't use cooling. Air cooled electric cars have always had higher battery degradation in the long run, like early Nissan leaf.
why they did cost cutting by removing essential good to have features which is found in hatchbacks nowadays. mechanical ORVM giving 2010 vibes. the pricing was anyways would be higher than ICE version so there was no need to reduce on other important and safety features..

If they are aiming a city car segment ,basic specs should have-to be given because TIAGO ev have some better spec than citron, if it is targeting to hit then the pricing should have to be very much affordable Else I’ll wait for Puch or Altroz ev to get launched or will go with Tiago ev which is the premium ev city car with affordable price at this point 👍

It keeps the motor and battery cooled. Batteries don't do well in extreme cold and heat. They will lose range during trips, but more importantly, life cycle of batteries will be affected if it's used in extreme temperatures for a long time. When the battery gets hot -which happens while running, and also while charging, especially fast charging, coolant is pumped around the batteries to bring the temp down. So that it always stays within an acceptable temperature ( I think it's under 45degrees for Nexon ev). This mainly helps prolong the lifecycle of the battery. Citroen is air-cooled, which means the cooling process works only when the car is running, and not while charging, which is when it heats up the most. Historically air cooled batteries have higher degradation. So it's an unknown factor for this car whether it will be affected or not. Good thing is it uses LFP batteries which are more tolerant of high temperatures and less prone to catching fire.Only time will tell how this car will perform.

To be honest, disappointed a bit. If customers view this as a cheap car with the basic equipments missing i really doubt whether they consider this. They may get some traction with b2b customers, like taxis and all. They could have offered this as a premium value for money offering as tata is yet to announce anything about punch ev which was also missing in the auto expo. I also doubt the longevity of air cooled batteries. Nissan had it in the first gen leaf and that didn't perform well with degradation and all. Let's see.
