Citroen SM - 1973 Brun Scarabée

Beautiful car. I owned a new Brun Scarabee 1978 CX Prestige with had the SM Diravi power self centering steering but with 2.5 turns lock to lock v 2.0 on the SM. Awesome high speed tourers even on French intermediate roads with irregular road surfaces... love them both. The most stunning colour is the Blue Delta. Around 15 SMs were converted to RHD here in Australia - a very complex job. Most are former US 4 headlight LHD with a glass cover over the lights.

Something is not right for this to be a '73. As a European market model, if truly a '73, it would have been fuel injected (SC series) or it would have had an automatic transmission (SD series). The configuration shown here corresponds to a '70-'72 (SB series). Either the engine has been converted to carburetors or the transaxle was changed out from an automatic or it is older than a '73.

La plus élégante des voitures. Pourquoi les constructeurs et CITROËN en particulier ne font ils plus de belles voitures ? A part de nous sortir des horreurs sur roues en plastiques. A l heure actuelle, il n y a que la Giulia d Alfa Roméo qui ait du style. A tous,vous les constructeurs, refaites nous de belles voitures originales.
