Citroen Visa GTI- The most practical GTI of 1980´s?

I adore GTI´s from the 80 and 90s. Cars like Renault 5 GT Turbo, Peugeot 205 GTI 106 Rally and many more. But there is one that I always wanted to try. The Citroen Visa GTI. More or less a 205 with less oversteer and 5 doors... whats not to like?
Oh... and ROUND HEADLIGHTS!

My first car was a visa. Carried me all across Europe( to some extent ) and proved to be quite reliable with a small toolbox in the rear to fix mostly electrical issues. So yeah this takes me back down memory lane albeit i only had a 1100 suitcase engine.

I am very pleased to see you have chosen a Visa. GTi's in the UK started at 105bhp, in May 1986 that increased to 115 bhp. There was also a change of cloth for the seats and that trim was used for the 105 bhp cars in the UK.

Congratulations on this real gem!! It’s a great car and was/is still one of my all time favourites! ❤ We had several Visa’s from the club with the 2 cilinder boxer to the 14TRS. Here in the Netherlands there stood a GTI for years on the scrapyard. Had a lot of parts that we used on our 14TRS.

Yes 🎉it’s a Citroën Visa GTI!!!🥳 Cool 😎 quirky and rare car! My sister had a white Visa , no not a GSI but it had the boxer engine and the early style dashboard with the quirky satellite indicator thingies! And at my work we used to drive the Visa C15 the van version ! Before that the acadiane and before that the 2cv AK400! And you are right lose those el cheapo rims! 😂😂😂Congrats with this Nice new rare project! Looking forward to all the upcoming content!👍🏻

Woooooow! This brings back many good and comfy memories!! Well done Seppo.I drove a Visa 17D a couple of years. Only four speed but what a torque that dieselengine had. Pulled a caravan behind it through Sweden with my oldest daughter only 8 months old on the backseat. Unfortenately my Visa ended by a rear entry of a Volvo. Completely smashed the backside and I had to put away my dear Visa….. Lots of fun with it! They are só comfortable👍👍

Oh, now I get the clue, Visa, as in money cards, makes sense now!!! :P As for the car, I just think it's funny how they started out as a 2CV derivative, but unfortunately peugeot-ified, given that the original Citroen design (which became the Oltcit in Romania, and some were sold as the Citroen Axel) was radically different to what peugeot insisted Citroen had to make, they were basically told to "be normal", which Citroen never really did well wit doing...

Awesome 😎. Love Visas- i owned a Decapotale 20 years ago. In common with its later Ax and Peugeot 106 cousins they love to rot around the edges of the boot floor and inner rear wings. Visa Gti's are more planted on the limit than the 205 - and they are in essence a more powerful 5 door Samba Rallye. Looking forward to when you start work on it - and I agree those wheels have to go! 👍👍

very nice, i had some driving lessons in one, i think was a little older maybe 83/84 that was a two door i cant remember seeing 4 door GTi,s, i agree those wheels dont look great, i love watching you so excited about a project,,

Pretty sure all visa´s was 5 door... Citroen Axel was a 3 door. :) could be mistaken!

Had two silver ones one had roof damage saved from a scrap man , still have front headlamps we kept as spares . Bulkhead rot killed ours . Great choice today ❤

I did guess it was a Visa GTi on your Instagram, such a cool and rare hot hatch! Personally I like the O.Z alloys ( I think they're O.Z Polaris wheels by the way) but appreciate its personal preference although the alloys might look good on the BX. But the stud pattern may fit the Escort too by the way, so might suit that better an be a nice upgrade maybe.

My brother owned a red one in about 1995 it was an 86 d plate the gear selecters were nackerd and real sloppy when he bought it they were fixed the car went well but the dashboard rattled like mad apart from that it was a good car. 👍👍

cool to see one again, it´s been some years since I last saw one.😀 the engine looks similar to the BX 16 for parts, you may get hole of Arne from Jennum auto. he it located a bit north of randers. im 90% sure he can help you 😀 he´s got almost everything citroen, form DS, BX, XM, Jensen (XM), C6 you name it so i´m not surprised if he got a set of Visa GTI wheels hidden somewhere 😂

Really cool car! I faintly remember seeing these on the road as a child in the 90’s. I don’t know if any of them were GTIs, I didn’t notice that kind of detail back then (I still thought cars with two tail pipes were faster than cars with one tail pipe, so by definition, a VW transporter diesel was as fast as an e36 M3!). Great to see one again, it looks really cool and quirky. And a bit like a mix of an old Lada/Skoda and a Fiat Ritmo?!

A tasty little French car you get the nice cars has to be said, I remember these running about they were the oddball choice but still cool, looking at it now side on it looks like a Skoda Favorit its dated quite badly but front on its very chic and French.

Peugeot 309 GTI was also available as a 5 door. The 309 was actually also a better balanced chassis than the 205.

That's such a cool GTI! I thought the Chrono was the GTI version of the Visa, but apparently not. Those rims don't look good on it, but that style of rims almost never looks good imho. Oh, that armrest is for a Xantia.

The GTI was a performance road car. The Chrono, Trophee and Mille Piste were homologation specials intended for rallying.

Visa bulkheads were as weak as the rest of the car so check it, overall doesn’t look too bad, i wonder if the choice of wheel helped the frame problem? It looks as if its too low over the wheels

Tillykke med fundet, længe siden jeg har set sådan en. Jeg havde sådan en i samme farve omkring 1997, men mener den var fra 1984 eller 85. Jeg havde forældre orlov med min datter, og skulle finde noget at lave nogle penge på, så købt for under 10000kr, fixede og malede lidt på den og solgte for ca 17000kr. Har også altid været vil med det design, men mange plastik dele er noget billigt skrammel 🙂. Mvh Thomas Herlufmagle (Metro turbo)
