AI Explanation for this album (Quite Impressive): Dallas Green, a singer-songwriter, is the main character in this story depicted in the visual album "The Love Still Held Me Near" by City and Colour. Throughout the album, Dallas explores themes of faith, love, loss, and healing. In the opening section, he questions his faith and experiences feelings of confusion and doubt. He then sings about the desire to live freely without being controlled by fear or death, lamenting the difficulties of being separated from the world yet still together. As the album progresses, Dallas sings about the challenges of holding onto love and the healing process that follows heartbreak. He emphasizes the importance of letting go and facing the consequences of our choices. The visuals in the album, such as nature, cities, and people, complement the mood of the music and create an immersive experience for the viewer. The album's middle sections encourage listeners to work harder for love, rid the world of hate, and bow down to love to find a better way to exist. Dallas sings about the struggles of dealing with the darkness in life and the desire for peace of mind. He suggests that by letting go of worry and taking healing hands, it is possible to start over and begin again. In the end, the album comes full circle, as Dallas reflects on the fleeting nature of love and the sadness of losing something once cherished. However, he finds peace and gratitude for the present moment, acknowledging that although there are still wounds that may take time to heal, the love still held him near. The haunting melody and emotional vocals by City and Colour resonate with the audience, leaving a lasting impression of hope and healing.

There are of course studio musicians to record and play shows with him sometimes, but City and Colour is a solo project for Dallas Green (City = Dallas and Colour = Green). He writes the lyrics and the music, sings, plays guitar, and I believe plays keys, often he performs acoustically without a full band behind him. He is great, and has been since his earliest solo work! He was/is also the lead vocalist of Alexisonfire, a band from the 2000's who recently got back together and made a new album. You've got lots of old stuff to explore if you're a new fan, enjoy!

Still New songs are New as ever But also as encapsulated as ever and much needed. I dont visit this feeling often( I dont actually really listen to music much since 2016 ) because those spots in time were so Elevating and it was so special to me.. but glad I found this today. Thanks for continuing to make the music you do.

I lost me precious daughter Kristen only last month, on 9/11/24, and I've shed volumes of tears that no man should endure...enough for many lifetimes, and music is the only thing that has held me together...THIS music specifically has begun my journey of what I know will be a long, slow road of healing and understanding. City and Colour speaks to the heart "The Love Still Held Me Near" is so painful for me, because it evokes the emotion that I need to feel at this moment in my life. The fact that Dallas and the band put it together as a way of grieving a very personal loss of their own, makes it so much more meaningful for me...almost personal. Dallas - you're a blessing and a light, in a world of darkness and pain. I live in Bellingham, WA, only an hour away from the studio where the album was recorded. On (American) Thanksgiving Day, my sons and Kristen's boyfriend who is flying out from Savannah, GA, are taking a portion of her remains to a place that she loved. On the North Fork of the Nooksack River, near Mt. Baker, are Nooksack Falls, where Kristen will become one with nature in the the salmon spawning environment that she adored, among majestic Douglas Firs and the ice melt of Baker, that feeds the river, I'll be playing "Meant to Be" as she cascades off the fall into her final resting place. I'd love to see the band in BC. I'll have to look for tour dates. Love you all!

So much love going out to you. I just became a father 2.5 yrs ago. The depths of pain, joy, love and sorrow that I've newly learned possible have changed me forever. I ache at the thought of anyone losing a child and wonder at how life can be so cruel and yet so beautiful all at the same time. It is in these wild and quiet places that I can find the balance, yet I have been long from these places like the Nooksack and for me, the baker lake hot spring area since the birth of my child. The distance and absence of such peace and serenity has had its toll and I too take great remedy in this album and that of a local PNW artist "Kalan Wolfe and The Shift". I know your girl will or is being held in one of the most pristine, sacred and alive ecosystems that I have ever set foot in and I am glad for it. Big love for your grief and all that must come for your heart and minds well being.

Canada's best kept secret keeps producing after all these years...

His music was the foundation of my acoustic venture. Before then, pre-2010, I had a young mindset and was stubborn, one-track-minded on electric guitar, and raging with the feelings I had. Once I heard his music, I wanted to expand my knowledge, and tone things down. I credit his albums for breaking down some walls of my emotion. I have since grown and I am very happy to have followed his career since. God bless, Dallas.

@@EkskrimentLort hi 🙂 his piano version of happiness by the kilowatt is incredible. Day old hate. Waiting. Young lovers. Coming home. Weightless. Honestly it’s hard to find a song of his that isn’t amazing lol. His really early stuff like in the water I am beautiful is decent too but youll notice how much he’s progressed since then. If you search for Dallas green you’ll find his early stuff. All of his covers are amazing too. Rain when I die cover, nutshell cover. And his project with pink me and you. Their cover of no ordinary love 👌🏼

This is music for those that have been through it...and have added the mileage of life! Dallas never fails to touch both the heart and soul but the mind as well. Good 👍👍 looking out man! PS I wish Dallas could collaborate with Lera Lynn. They'd make, at least to my ears, for amazing collaboration.

When Dallas drops an album, I typically listen to it a few times with fresh ears. Than months/years later the material starts to resinate and I will binge listen. Im just now getting over my Pill for Loneliness phase. Thank you for all you do Dallas.

I am so glad that you covered my favorite band and also that KZbin's algorithm works for me.... If not for those two things I may have never heard the awesome music that comes from within you brother!
