City council to determine the fate of TWO elementary school closures in Virginia

The plan to close two elementary schools in Lynchburg is changing, but it comes at a hefty price. School leaders now want to keep T.C. Miller and Sandusky elementary schools open, and rebuild Sandusky.
The decision came Tuesday after hours of back and forth. LCS Board chair, Dr. Atul Gupta, said it was their best option.
"It takes time and we have to do our due diligence to make sure that we are making a decision for the future of our district," he said.
Dr. Gupta said the board's original plan included a $15 million expansion of Bass Elementary, but city council didn’t sign off on that money, so they had to make a change.
