City housing project FAILED leaving dozens of homes in DISREPAIR

As I was driving down the street, there there a ton of boarded up houses but this one on the corner was getting overgrown. So, I spoke with the neighbor right behind and she told me that it is a city owned property. There was a housing project that lost its funding and failed and now there are dozens of boarded up houses on this street. She said the city does cut the grass every now and again but they haven’t been by yet this year. So, I thought I would get it edged up, mowed down, and looking amazing for the neighborhood again!

I don't think I'm allergic to ivy/oak cuz i have lots of it in my backyard and i dance around in that and don't have any issues but i also take a shower immediately after just to be....safe.

Someone has to pay for repairs, for one thing. And then the house is worth money, which means the people buying it have to be smart enough with their money to save for a down payment and keep up with the mortgage. Not to mention the legal issues that many houses get tied up in. Plus, much of the homeless population has severe mental illness and/or addiction problems. They don’t want a home, or wouldn’t be able to maintain it if they did. You can argue about prices and all that. But things cost money and the world is very complex.

What you should do is buy a rental, then go out a find yourself a homeless person or family to move in. Show us how's it's done.

Amazes me how there are so many in USA, here in Australia we have a rental housing problem, rents are very high and there just aren’t enough affordable houses. I wonder that too! How did a city housing project fail? Where I live, people would be fixing those up and glad to have them! ❤. Building new housing projects these days is crazy expensive because so many middlemen come along with their hands out, wanting a cut of the government money. I am in Canada and we only see vacant houses when they are getting through probate or are going to be torn down. In my city there were to four unit buildings that were rented, it was a slum lord, city came in dozed both buildings and built a 30 unit building for low income, we also have a bunch of town homes that are a mix of owned and low income suites.

I live in the Northeast USA. In Massachusetts, we have a mandate to provide 10% of our housing inventory to be affordable housing. LOTS of building going on here. If TX lost funding for all those homes, why not sell them???? Geez, that would never happen here...I think.

I starting watching, the boring channel with Kevin then I found Al Blaze then SD mowing then everyone else. Other then the sound of the equipment that I enjoy, what hits me more if them helping People out. The faces on people faces. When we were going thru so much and family and friends came to help us out with our yard, it has brought us tears of joy! It was refreshing. We had to leave out for some medical and you can imagine someone just coming and helping you with your yard makes a big difference. So I admire these guys and the rest of people trying to make a difference in people lives.. blessings boys are another one, I watch so different from Australia good job Australia. Hum! CITY OF WICHITA; Spencer you are out there and the ppl that follow you love what you are doing. I know this city, if they can get buy with anything, they will until they’re called out on it. Spencer, I'm allergic poison ivy too, and for the most part I do my absolute best to avoid it at all costs! But the few times I've come in contact with it, I've been able to avoid issues by following this guideline: basically, using any soap, thoroughly wash & rinse the affected areas at least 3x with warm - not hot - water. (I dot his with my clothes too.) The last time I got poison ivy was in 2015, after doing some spring weeding at my new house, but after using this technique, I was able to go back into those flower beds and pull up poison ivy sprouts and roots and I didn't get a single itchy spot. I havent had any issues with poison ivy since! Good luck!

Can't please everyone, plus the one overgrown yard that he does improves the whole neighborhood helping multiple people. Not to mention he did say at the end of the video if you watch the whole thing he was going back and doing more work. And he does this for free and only does it once a week for KZbin content. Not to mention this lady was not really that pleasant.

Sure he said he was doing more but helping people should come before a abandon property. And cleaning abandoned homes doesn’t help people it just makes the neighborhood look better.

What a tease! Lady thinks you are coming to help her, but instead you are asking about city property 😆I would have much rather helped the lady, than the city. It's nice that you do this, but you usually seem to do it with houses nobody actually lives in. The lady's lawn looked like it needed help as well, and I am sure the lady would have been more appreciative than the city.

Should have offered to mow that womans yard after she gave you information about the boarded up houses. It's a little upsetting to a person, hearing you do it for free, for the other houses. But don't offer it to the person who just offered to pay you for the service.

It's marketing..."MERCHANDISE" is so old-fashioned in a way of speaking. Everything gets revised over time. I always wondered why people use SWAG, but it's trendy and it sells. Spencer is just keeping up with the times. I like the word "merchandise" too, but also see the other side of the coin..... IT'S BUSINESS....LOL!

17 y/o here. Very common way we have heard of saying merchandise. We don’t really hear merchandise except for larger buisinesses and stuff. But for chill fun stuff we most of the time hear merch or swag (typically merch) it’s not so much a business tactic just the common way of speaking lately. Hence why it’s “overused”

That was a lot of turf to scrape off the concrete. It was the most difficult part for me when we came home from a 10 day vacation.
