Thank you Henry. Sometimes your walks put me in a philosophical state of mind, and this one did so. It occurred to me that places have a concrete historical timeline, but also countless individual histories. I enjoyed this glimpse of your individual Bozeman history. That Wolfe quote is sad, but your explanation to your son was spot on. Hope you are well.

Hi Tom. Glad you enjoyed it. Yes, the Tom Wolfe quote is sad, but I think of nostalgia as a kind of sadness too. Thanks for watching and your support as always. -H

This town's got a real laid back vibe. Funny to see the trees mostly don't have leaves anymore too!
@CityWalks3 жыл бұрын
YEs, we've gotten some colder weather and it's knocked them off the trees. Funny you say laid back. It's grown so much in the last 10 years, it's kind of known as a busy and bustling town now. But, by most other standards, its still a little town. -H

You might plan a side trip to Columbia, SC and walk 5 points and/or the riverwalk area when you’re over this way in NC this month.

Great suggestion Steve. And, I actually am planning that. I have a friend there. I appreciate additional suggestions as well. We'll see how the schedule actually works out because I'm taking my son so we can also check off some state high points. -H

Yes i like it when you call out where you are. I also go onto maps and check it out. It would be great for you to do winter walks and summer walks in the same towns then juxtapose the two together at and random intervals to sheo the change in seasons.

That's a great thought. I might try that but my ability to plan ahead falls far short of my ideals. :-) Who knows though. It's worth a try. thanks! -H

I like when you walk along small, non-commercial streets (as at 14:36 and 17:54 ). Kind of randomly chosen? It gives a sense of every day life at residential areas and houses' architecture. Great walk Henry.

Welcome back to Bozeman Henry. I miss the last time you were walking around here. As far as I remember, you spent the last Halloween walk around some ghost town in Bannack, which was good enough place to vlog without being bothered by kids asking for trick or treat. 😁

Surprised at the lack of halloween decorations, apart from a few pumpkins on porches near the end. Were children allowed to go trick or treating this year? Loved the "Barmuda triangle" and your thoughts on not going home again - life as a puzzle and we are the pieces. Thanks.

Dude you need to spend more time downtown. I viewed your video hoping to remind me of the great halloweens I spent downtown. Thousand of people trick or treat on holloween and everybody dresses up from 2 months old to 70 years. Best holloween in the entire US of A. I lived at the baxter and spent some of the best years of my life in Bozeman. The crystal bar classic montana bar, its eagles one of the best places to dance to a live band same applies to the legion. Sunday nights for big band also at eagles. Sorry but your video missed a lot. Do you even know theirs a stream that runs right underneath downtown? Go behind eagles. You need to be out and about downtown every fri, sat, sun. It’s a great town. Also you should check out the arts at the old middle school. I enjoyed the walk but you need do another with a local to go along with you to do the commentary. All of us who miss the place and the people you left us wanting more.

Actually I’ve lived in Bozeman and Livingston for twenty years. I’ve done several walks through town that show much of what you say. This was one point in time. Also, the city has changed dramatically in just the last 4 years, not to mention the last 20 in which the population has doubled. Im not sure when you lived here or if you still do but I look forward to seeing the video you make about the town that captures everything you mentioned. -

"look at this little house, probably sells for... a million dollars, who knows" *looks up housing prices* yes, pretty close.
@CityWalks Жыл бұрын
Hi Pheep, yeah prices out here have grown way faster than the economy can keep up with, at least in terms of building new houses. -H
@gails-connor32892 жыл бұрын
The median price for a town home, which is mostly what that area west of 19th is made up of is $525,000. The median price for a condo in Bozeman is $505,000 so there is really nothing "affordable" out there. The median price for a single family home in Bozeman is now $837,500. But, the city is working to develop affordable tiny house neighborhoods. My divorce in 2010 (after 30 years of marriage) and the ensuing upheaval brought me to Bozeman where I lived for 6 months in a fourplex on the corner of E Peach and N Black. I'm surprised, Google Maps shows it still there. It wasn't in great shape back then. I liked Bozeman a lot but the affordability handwriting was already on the wall back then. I bounced around the country until I settled briefly in Livingston and I am now in Virginia City. I wrote about that on your -25F video. I see that you have done a video of Virginia City so I am off to watch that! I enjoy your "jibbering and jabbering" and I don't mind your sniffles😃
@CityWalks2 жыл бұрын
Wow. Those numbers are eye-popping. Even worse than when I recorded. Livingston barely has any houses on the market and so people can't find workers that can afford to live here. It's a real problem all over the state. Hope you are enjoying Virginia City. Great little historical town. Cheers. -H
