Edmonton police in riot gear were ready in the event of unruly behavior following Game 7 of the Stanley Cup final. But as Adam Ziccarelli reports, disappointed fans simply went home after the loss.

Nah, it was fixed. Bob let in easy shots starting from game 4 and Florida threw the games 4-6 just so they could even the series, more revenue could be obtained from Edmonton seat tickets, and the Panthers could take the Cup down in Florida. Once down in Florida for game 7 for the finisher, Bob "strangely" got good again. Connor McDavid could also pick up the consolation prize of the CS Trophy as MVP for his team over Bob who had apparently foundered for a few games.

That was different at least the 2011 one. The Canucks had homecourt, were title favourites, and were up 3-2 in the series. They haven't lost a single game to the Bruins in Vancouver up until that game 7 shutout. If the Oilers had homecourt and everything else that have supported the argument that they were clear favourites (I.e. winning every game that'd have happened in edmonton, presidents trophy, franchise record win season), that could have been a very different outcome. The 1994 finals was more inexcusable by virtue of them having no business making it there as I believe either a 7 or 8 seed, then in spite of being heavy favourites to *lose* the series took it to 7 games. Fans were going to riot regardless but 2011 really hurt. Not even a close game 7. The Canucks have not won a game in Boston since the 2019 season (where they got an 8-5 win in Boston).

The thing is, neither team did anything wrong. It was a fight from both sides. It's like watching two boxers go at it. One guy just manages the better offense for a split second and takes his shot. As an Oilers fan part of my enjoyment is seeing my team overcome a hard fight and, at the very least, really prove they can go the distance. And with the next season a number of months away, there are records still worth breaking and another opportunity to win the cup.

Still upset the Oilers lost the Cup this year, but also upset there is no viral video about it. Like an Oilers fan recreating the ending of La Bamba because the Oilers win song comes from the movie. This time, she would come to a bridge crying screaming "STANLEY!!!", until she calms down saying "Maybe next year." That would've been awesome and Sportsnet, CFRN Edmonton and CitvTV Edmonton would love it.
