Not to mention into houses, penthouses and/or apartments. It's not just a European thing. It's a lot cheaper to convert old water towers (especially brick or concrete) into something useful than to tear it down and build something. Long with the other benefits of reusing old buildings.

Since we've already established that Nicolet Bay is within intercity bus distance... perhaps some of Tim Kequom's relatives owned the farmland that eventually became the town, which was named Kequom Hill in their honor. (And knowing about the farming background in his family tree later helped inspire Tim to establish Ojibwa Organics.)

Great video! This is specially great for me as I want to make Portuguese maps! Portuguese system is hard to understand, even for a native, but essentially our municipalities aren't cities and our cities aren't municipalities, and some places you can't even tell what's a city or not. A municipality is a government level comprised of one or multiple parishes, and it depends a lot on where you are as to what's a city or not. Lisbon, for example, is regarded as a city, but it is comprised of 24 parishes, none of which are named Lisbon, which is usually a must in a municipality: One parish is the seat of the council, and gives its name to the municipality. If you cross the river, you'll see another municipality, Seixal, which is a city and, among other parishes, has Corroios, which is classified as a town, so essentially a town within a city, and it is far from the only example as there are tons of examples where some places are defined as cities or towns, effectively controlled by another city, and other places have no classification. Parishes can also be joined by decree, forming parish unions that have the same government and being treated individually as former/defunct parishes, which results in some weird results, such as Corroios being its own parish, but Seixal, the seat of the municipality and you'd assume to be the main place in, well, Seixal, is a defunct parish that shares its government with two other defunct parishes. Barreiro, right next to it, is another example, as Barreiro is a municipality but also a defunct parish that is now run together with another parish. Most of these things have wildly varied historical reasons which are very hard to convey in Cities: Skylines I, or even Sim:City 2013 with its regions. This new feature finally allows me to create a "main" parish, slowly grow it, and over time simulate the founding of satellite parishes near it, all part of the same municipality, and the city hall can be moved around the parishes as history gives them the reasons to change their seat, just like real life. In my municipality, for example, a satellite parish eventually outgrew the main parish, this becoming the main one and relocating the city hall... Sadly we also don't have actual city halls, but a version of a city hall which runs the municipality, and then a town hall that runs the parish, both coexisting and having different functions, but that's a whole another story for another day, but essentially the city hall runs services like water, waste, high schools, etc., while the town hall and the parish mayor are a liaison between citizens and the municipal mayor, they make sure the city hall is doing their functions as law mandates, and also run some smaller services, such as maintaining public toilets or elementary schools.

The electrical company can visit them, the farmer put a box of grass around and most traktors not drive into them (It is happend already, do you can found the news online!). lt is funny how accurately this simulation are works, starts with A for auto till W for waterflow... 🙄🤔 What are wonder me all time why the parts of a city are so small in U.S. cities, sometime just a handful of houses or five streets. If I looks here so around in the main city of the Kingdom of Thailand Krung Thep (or foreigner just talk Bangkok) the chinese ghetto or arabic ghetto is so small same your new farmer city. Most parts are own cities with own cultural life inside. One older airport is inside city but have had own golf course inside too! This should be from the space of ten small parts of U.S. cities. Are U.S. city parts are really so small? I looks so many TV stories and play computer games how plays inside U.S. cities but I never fell about that (e.g. CSI, GTA, aso.). Interesting to known. 😮

This makes it more like Sim City 4 (I think) where you could build several independent cities and have them interact. This opens up a whole new way to play the game. Using the district tool is a great way to assess the individual cities but it would be great if we could get a City (district tool) and then within that district (city) we could set up further districts. That way would make it super realistic. Several cities all with individual districts within them.... Id like your thoughts if you read/see this comment. If not keep up the great work.

I live in a little city close to the downtown area of a large metropolitan city and my city has plans to try and grow our small “downtown” to try and compete with the surrounding other little cities that make up the metropolitan. They wanted to increase the density of housing that surrounds the little downtown area. They changed the zoning from single family to medium density, in order to attract developers to grow our little downtown area. Good news is, that I don’t have move, and I am in control of my property. But if there is an offer from a developer, I probably can get a lot more than what’s it’s worth as a single family home! While this was going on at city council meetings, all I could think about was City Planner Plays and how much I love watching your stuff. It actually feels like I’m part of the game now 😂

I feel like the games current mechanics are fairly punishing to people who want multiple small towns, as there are a basic level of services that you have to fund in full even though you only use a fraction of their capacity. The game either needs more scalable services or the ability to reduce a funding line that effects capacity with effecting quality or coverage. IE, if my town is small i should be able to fund the school enough to only teach the 200 or so students rather than the full 1000 without my school coverage drop or the quality decreasing.

Anyone else notice how all the lawns on the houses have no snow but the roofs of the buildings have snow? I feel like seasons are poorly implemented. It is a small thing but when you have a large area of developed land, it looks silly with the snow.

Hi CPP! I’ve been a long time enjoyer of Cities and have been looking forward to making my hometown in CS2. I know it’s complicated and it will take a lot of time, effort and patience. I hope for it to be done by the end of next year, but only time will tell. Also, if you plan on naming any future districts could you please naming one Willynwood. It’s the name of the breeder my parents got my dog from. We recently had to put him down because he got myasthenia gravis, which then caused him to regurgitate his food and breathe in stomach acid. Thankfully I am receiving his ashes today.

I think you should name the new town Towerview. Maybe the founder got its name after climbing the local water tower 😂

36:42 ohhh those poor people who live right next to the wastewater treatment plant 😭 i live about a mile from my local equivalent and let me tell you when the wind blows from the west i don't need to see it to know it's there... these people have direct line of sight, it's gotta be bad

great small town. But you got bit over board with planting trees under power lines. You normally have there a clean path or some bushes at most.

It is sad that during winter, a lot of the overlays and contour lines gets so hard to see. I mean, if the dev team had tried it out a bit, they would have seen it. Making them a little more dark or a different color would have made a difference. Same for reading texts that are above one of the overlay.

How about you name the town Farm Crossing or Sunnyside Crossing in reference to the bridge across the strait 22:06

I would name it «Foresthill freeway». Kinda fits its position, and there is not much anything else except some cows and crops.

You need a bus rout to your main town, it makes the new area easier to live if you know you can access larger areas, at least in reality.

I hope one day we'll have smaller town-sized assets for some of the expandable city services, like schools and cemeteries. The fire station and the police station look okay in the small town setting, but they're also pretty expensive for the area they serve.

It bothered me more than I expected that the water tower wasn't specifically placed on a hill. Elevate your towers, people!
@simongeard4824
@simongeard4824 10 ай бұрын
The point of those giant water towers is that they're elevated without the need for a hill... it's why they're so common in the flatter parts of the US. If there's a hill available, the tank is usually placed on the ground instead...
@drewhickcox4611
@drewhickcox4611 10 ай бұрын
@@simongeard4824 that might be true in extreme situations, but generally putting a tower on a hill means you don't have to make it as tall to service the same area.

@@drewhickcox4611 I've never seen one of those CS-style water towers on a hill. All of the water reservoirs I see on hills are not towers - they're just a big tank built directly on the ground, since that's much cheaper and easier than raising them off the ground.

My vote for the new town name would be Farmer's Point or [Insert founding farmer's name here] Point. Historically it looks like a place where farmers might bring their crop to water for ferrying to other towns. If there is a farming market building you should put it there!
