@@CityPlannerPlays Sometimes you'll also see a really odd bug with TM;PE where rows and rows of bright red cars will suddenly appear parked in nearly every street parking space available within a certain area. Having "No Collision" on means your trees will reappear in your roads. So, if you want to upgrade a road without destroying buildings, upgrade with "no collision", then turn collision back on and either upgrade again, or wiggle the road with move it mod (can always undo!) So the trees go away again. Hope that helps!

Honestly I’d recommend downloading forrest brush and just erasing those trees altogether, cause sometimes prop and tree anarchy glitches out and makes all of the hidden trees resurface at once, so it’s better to delete them as you go.

As a firefighter I have two things to add. 1. Having the police station and firehouse next to each other is a great idea, until the cops and firefighters move in. Google 'police doughnut trap' to see what i mean. 2. the Volly house you put on the outskirts needs some amenities. I'd look through some of the camp ground stuff, fire pit, barbecue area, if there was a lake I'd say a fishing dock would be a must. Lol if you put a playground asset with a jungle gym it wouldn't be out of place as a 'training area' based on some of the stuff I've seen. Really enjoying this series so far!

Watching the city of Ashland grow, I was surprised by 2 things: 1) At least half of the Kroger groceries I know have a strip mall either parallel or perpendicular to the store front, housing Ace, CVS, Subway, cell phone stores, Chinese takeout. My local store has a post office beside it. A strip of commercial along-side the parking lot would solve a lot of the issue of light spilling into ppls bedrooms. 2) The lighthouse would make a fantastic centerpiece for a park. Many Michigan beach towns incorporate their lighthouses into park/harbor hybrids. Examples include Escanaba, Manistee, Ludington, and South Haven. The point the lighthouse sits on reminds me of White Fish Point or Point Iroquois on Lake Superior.

@UC8WAaaW2FnctRI9coYJoUdA Biffa has shown a good tip on that where if you have the trees come through the road, turn back on road collision and use move-it. Select the road with move-it and hit the left arrow key once and the right arrow key once and the trees disappear. Moving the road will cause the tree collision to be detected and then moving it back means the road is in the same spot. Doing that doesn't make paths disappear. Hope that makes sense.

Hello mate. I live in the UK and watch all your videos. They're excellent. I also happen to be a Lighting Designer. I work up schemes of exterior lighting for multi national companies by way of street lighting, site lighting, and, often, car park lighting. Regarding the car park lighting in particular, there is a legal light level of 5 lux or 0.5 foot candles for the entirety of the car park. Walmart would have a Lighting Designer on staff, or a lighting company to handle it for them. Also, sports fields, generally 200 lux to 750 lux depending on level of use. To make the issue more complicate, there is also a legal need for uniformity across the entire span. I just thought you'd find this interesting.

"Start of a rural road" he says as he places it right across the street from a Wal-Mart haha. As a volunteer firefighter myself, we would not have a department that close to another fire district. Bellevue would have probably 2 stations and a utility building spread throughout the town, with the utility building being close to the primary response station for access. Also volunteer fire departments wouldn't be placed on a dirt road in modern day... it would be paved long before construction on the building ever began... fire training and emergency uses as well as the heavy traffic, a lot of which are huge, heavy trucks would wear that road to nothing in no time, and the dust would be cause for concern with gear and vehicle maintenance. 🙂

I have learned so much watching this. Now I yell out what I think the road hierarchy of the street I drive on is... much to the wife's dismay. Thank you for the wonderful content.
@jwalker861253 жыл бұрын
The trees are clipping through the road because road collision is off when you upgraded the road. But if you upgrade it with collision off to save the building then turn it back on then just use move it to move the road then undo it and the trees should be gone again

Man, I love watching these. Its funny that half of these videos are about parking lots and trees lol That's the benefit of having traffic figured out fairly well from the beginning

Love how this city is coming together!! One thing I think is missing in this build is some property markers / fences between properties. Will really help sell the open spaces for me! Great video Phil

You should add in a shopping plaza/ out door mall with walking paths and a large parking lot.

For the colour changer, are you able to leave it installed but toggle it on and off for your cinematics? Anyways, loving this style of this build.

Can't you use the color changer and have the planning roads as an exception?

Can I say thank you for doing the videos you do? I discovered you after KZbin recommended your stuff to me and since then I've been having your videos in the background whenever I'm doing artwork without streaming. It's nice stuff to listen to, and it's also been making me itch to play Cities: Skylines again. Thanks for the content!

when you are placing roads, you should turn on collision. This will remove the trees.

Loving the series man, I used to work in land dev engineering and had my fair share of butting heads with the city haha. I got out because I found myself siding with the city more often than not, and developers (and their wallets) tend to not like that in their engineer :p The gravel between the farm fields and FM roads looks cleaner but I have only ever seen green bar ditches in those spaces. Are you taking inspiration from your area on that decision?
@CityPlannerPlays3 жыл бұрын
That's a reason I love engineers.... haha! I am - but it is really difficult to make the ditches look good. I'm looking for assets to make this look cleaner!

Regarding the tree problem, I’ve found that if you place a road or asset over pre-existing trees the game doesn’t delete them, it merely hides them. So if you then later upgrade/change the road/asset with Anarchy on those trees suddenly “unhide”. Best solution is to delete trees before you place the item you want right at the start. Great series by the way.

Me, a 90s kid, laughing at the unfenced elementary school near busy roads being unreasonable. 😂 We were against the main artery of the entire town. No fencing. They just yelled at us to stay away from the road. It got fenced in the 2000s. The good ol' days!

That volunteer fire department is a lot less … resource intense than my volunteer fire department
@PaulMiles12 жыл бұрын
Hey CPP, love watching your videos, when I'm multitasking, it's very Bob Ross in the background (a high compliment, I assure you). But I did catch something when you were talking about the VFD. With volunteer fire departments, depending on where you are, some can be not much more than a corrugated shed, but on the east coast, particularly in the mid-atlantic (Pennsylvania down through Maryland and possibly into Virginia), there's a huge volunteer FF community, and they take great pride in their stations. In eastern PA (where I'm from), volley stations are also community gathering points. They're often polling places, and quite often have rental spaces for dances, wedding receptions, and other events that are too big for a backyard but too small for a hotel ballroom. Volley stations also tend to be larger because we do spend quite a bit of time at the station, and when we're dispatched for calls, we meet at the firehouse before moving to the fire ground. Small stations are more often found in rural communities and out in the midwest, where volunteers usually carry their gear in their own vehicles and meet the trucks at the fire scene. For CS purposes, it's semantics, but I know you really do care about city planning and how communities run, so I thought I'd share my experience with you.

I’ve be n waiting for this impatiently! Really love that you incorporated ideas we mentioned from the last time. It would be great to make the lighthouse area into a park. Also the primary school really needs a car park. Maybe it can use the triangular lot adjacent? Also there’s a little bit of area in the high school parking that’s just overgrowth and nothing else. Maybe a small rock feature or a fountain would make better use of the space.
