You have three farmhouses right next to each other, I would do one prioritized as planting and the other two prioritized as harvesting. The planting action is faster than harvesting, the planting beavers can keep up with the harvesting beavers.

Get the beehives. The beehives help to dramatically increase efficiency of food production by shortening the total time to maturity. This increases food system resiliency among other things. The require paper, but since you have a paper mill now, that's not too hard.
@geckman20222 жыл бұрын
Since they are beavers, I'd recommend building a dam to hold back some water. It'll solve so many of your issues, plus you'll be able to block off that entire branch of the river with your two districts.

Wish the pace (of the video, not necessarily the gameplay) was somewhat slower but nice to see the place expanding. What I loved about BC and still like about VB is that there's no mad rush... the first Timberborn was like that too. Seems to have become very frenetic just recently. Can't wait to see what the explosives do though! Kaboom! ( _Is_ there a beaver named _Rico_ in town?)

That's good feedback! Because of the difference in games, and the nature of the games themselves, I wanted to change the pace but perhaps I've swung too far in the opposite direction. I'll get it slowed down a bit for the next one! I also probably shouldn't drink so much coffee before recording these ones...

@@CityPlannerPlays I remember having a meeting with the Dynamic Psychology folks and they had a new coffee machine. I had a couple of coffees and then spoke at about 200 words per minute for a while... turned out those two were both actually triple espressos! 8D
@Lowkeh2 жыл бұрын
@@CityPlannerPlays Hmm, the glory of coffee aside, I rather suspect that a lot of it comes down to editing, particularly the jumpcuts(+zooms). Now, don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of Slayzilla's editing in general, but I'd like to humbly ask if he could, perhaps, dial them back just a tiny bit. The increased frequency of these cuts hastens the video's pacing to the point where it's sort of makes the episode seem a bit rushed, (too) hectic, and sometimes hard-to-follow. Both this and last week's TB-episode had me almost feelin' a little out-of-breath afterwards-which sure worked wonders if the goal was to immerse me into the (possibly) sweaty shoes of the ever-so-diligent "beaver wheel"-runners _("beaver wheelers"?)._ But, I think this might mainly be because a majority of these jumpcuts do away with those natural pauses between sentences where one would normally, often subconsciously, have a breather or a moment of thought-and whereby the listener, in particular, is given some time to "digest" said sentence. All that said, however, I don't necessarily wish for any drastic changes to be made since I'm unsure whether my sentiment is shared by other people. For all I know, this could very well be simply down to my ADD-or maybe it's just age catching up to me-it's probably both... ¯\_( ᐛ )_/¯

Another great video! Lovin' this series! 🤩 With all that wood being stockpiled, it may be high time for your beavers to invest in a large scale public works project by building a dam/levee system around District 1. That could help prevent those crops from dying in the drought. Just keep in mind, the electricity generated by those waterwheels is directly correlated to the speed of the water passing through them, so try not to block the flow! 😄

You really need to get your food and water in order before you advance up the tech tree. You're planning metals and explosives and an observatory while your beavers are starving. Instead you just need science huts and only use them during the dry season while your power is offline.

Love that you are doing Timberborn and I like how it's looking. For your irrigation system you don't have to blow everything up (at least not yet) I'm pretty sure there is a building in either the water section or the dam section that creates a 1x1 square of water that beavers fill to maintain it (I don't know what it's called I've only watched the game I haven't played it myself) might be easier than all the science required to get dynamite.

I like the Timberborn content! Once you got explosives, you can start applying your own principles and get some water under these roads. You only need the water dump, that can fill a canal where your current roads used to be. The canal can than be filled with platforms to reestablish the paths. Another thing is, that you can additionally not only irrigate the farm land around these "upgraded" roads, but also route power through the canal and use double lodges to transport the power vertically from underground to above and vice-versa. This makes a perfect and compact 1 size fits it all solution where land value is high and free space rare. But the canal should have no river connection, it should only be inland and can only be on the same level of terrain due to water mechanics with the water dump. (Actually not true, but multi level canals require more water supply, almost 1:1 water dump to pump ratio and a river connection, to avoid flooding, therefore are more complex and mostly less efficient than multiple same-level canals with 1 water dump each.)

You have explosives now so can do some simple irrigation. But a one tile hole with water dump irrigates a large area. You could have used this to keep the food going in district 1 before you had explosives by placing levees off the coast with a water dump to fill a one tile hole created by levees.

Oh dear Phil, Love watching your videos but you are making some big mistakes with Timberborn. What are Beavers famous for??? Dams...Build some. I've played this map a few times, its one of my favourites and you really shouldnt be having beavers dying from starvation because of lack of water in the dry season, you cant hold back much water in the early game on this map but you absolutley can dam enough to keep the area around your food production in District 1 healthy, and you can do this way before you need to worry about explosives. Secondly you're planting areas are way too big for the amount of Farmhouses. More farmhouses less planting area. You must notice that some of your crop is never getting harvested and is just dying because you havent fixed the water, not that it would ever be harvested anyway. Your assertation that the beavers need campfires to reproduce is just wrong. For the Foxtails its the amount of housing space you have, campfires give a fertility boost but are not required. Stop building big housing complexes in one go, you dont have the infrastructure to support big population influxes and thats why you are getting death waves (when you arent starving your beavers first). Having said all that still enjoying the videos.

Phil, the water dynamics have changed. Ideally you want to funnel water into 1 width and connect wheels along that length using levees. This creates the highest water pressure, that you can go infinite with this design if you build large enough except for a slight bit of water evaporation.

Now that you (will) have dynamite- 💯 critical you blow holes/set up water dumps in your main district’s farm and wood production areas… to be honest, why haven’t you done that yet with levy’s..? Adding water dumps will 💯 make your life easier! This will provide water and keep your grow cycle pumping during the droughts. Water dumps are one of the best early research techs- maintaining a continuous grow cycle for crops/trees early on will prevent the food crisis you were juggling at the start of the video from ever becoming a thing. Kudos for solving that prob though! Cheers

Lord Farquaad's quote is far less cynical than the real life equivalent from Mao Tse Tung with respect to China's food shortages during the so called "Great Leap Forwards" in the late 1950's. The regime decided to prioritize who had access to food based on who could work the fields in order to not fall behind on debt repayments to the Soviet Union, and millions died as a result. I forget the exact wording, but it went something like, "(i)t is better that half the people may die so that the other half may eat their fill." Disgusting quote in real life, but probably a more fitting description of the situation here.
