I've watched you off and on for a few years. It's fun seeing you back in the city again after a long time at the beach! I don't comment much, but since there were zero comments, I just thought I'd be the first to say, great job, enjoyed watching. I like how loose you paint and how easy you make it look! Sorry I can't afford to be a Patreon, but you certainly deserve it.

I always look forward to Sunday afternoon watching your newest marvel. I am learning so much from you, not only shapes, values, composition, brush strokes, but the heart of a painting in the artist . Today, I felt like my lesson was just keep plugging away. Just keep at it. I am doing some kind of painting almost every day now. Consistency has been such a struggle for me. Watching you for a while now, beginning to see how dedicated you are to the process. Ups, downs and all arounds, just keep at it. That's what my new motto is. The Winston Churchill quote comes to mind, about never giving up and not fearing fear. And it pays off. I struggle with buildings and needed this extra study. I Love that you included the bridge, the reminder that distant things are duller in value. These basic things I forget sometimes. Delightfull❤

Love this one! The way you pulled out some details yet kept things rather indistinct is wonderful, as are the hues you chose. I’m new to your channel and am very much enjoying your work and the info you provide re how you approach oil painting. So thanks!

Your videos get "best in show" - the camera work/placement, the narrative, the choice to show and discuss palette from time to time, the progression from blank canvas to painting and the editing choices - always interesting and satisfying to watch. Thanks so much!

I love it! My one suggestion is to lower the mountain on the left so that the mountain/sky line can cross below the bridge cables. I think that would improve the separation/depth.

Beautiful as always Michael . I wonder if it would be possible for us Patreons to see how you finish the painting from where you ended the video before the reveal. The restraint you show in what to include and what not to include is masterful . Thank you as always

Happy Sunday, Michael. Terrific painting. Your city renderings remind of the cityscapes of Wayne Thiebald (but without the vertigo). Keep testing yourself and showing your process.

lovely process very harmonious colourìng, freely translated from reality, but not dictated and narrowed down by it: instead, yóur colors are very much determined by what's needed in the painting itself... towards a harmonious unity . Simply lovely... Keep on doing what you're doing Mike

I like how you can distill the scene so effectively. Would you say your paintings have become a bit more abstract over time? I really like the effect.
@chamberlainpaintings6 ай бұрын
I think my paintings have become more abstract as my ability to view a scene as an arrangement of abstract shapes has improved.

When was the last time you used black on your pallet? I know many impressionists abhorred black in their landscapes, but it has its uses in portraits and stilllives based indoors…

I tried using black briefly about 5 years ago. I heard you could mix nice greens with black. I prefer my primary color palette.
