It’s amazing how the painting starts out looking flat and then the depth appears almost like magic.

The more I paint, the more I appreciate your mastery of simplifying the composition, and doing it so quickly! The light is shifting, cars dissappear but you just go for it!

Phthalo blue is perfect for the Bay Area sky. To my eyes, ultramarine is too reddish. A mix of phthalo and ultramarine catch the essence of the sky.

I always like your city compositions. This had to be challenging, trying to capture such big scene with all those straight lines and cool cement colors. Your composition has more vibrancy and warmth with those sienna undertones. The video implied a lot more atmosphere and distance but I like your choices. Your scene invites the viewer, and that street compels our eyes out into that horizon. Instructive and interesting as always, great video. I have to catch up on your recent work. Thanks

I don't know much about paintings but the realism of the nearby objects is impressive, although the nearest highway seems to me not to be seen as well, but I think that the lack of clarity or definition of the objects in the back that denotes that effect of poor sharpness due to the distance seems incredible to me 🔝

I always feel trepidation about how you begin: it seems too loose, too general, sloppy. I then always feel amazement and admiration as you pull yet another rabbit out a hat with a wonderful final result. This one in particular!

Great tips on simplifying which is the hardest part to achieve in a cityscape! Great subtle shift in colors and color temperature from left, shadow, to right, sunlight. Good job! The wind has been so strong in SF, and you didn’t let it bother you!

Thank you Michael. The truck is a terrific anchor for the scene. That street is another wave building as it gets closer. Thanks again.
