This looks like an upgrade to Sim City and a blend of City Skylines

Now this is a game I can get behind. I play Nationstate and the political side is somewhat similar. I hope it's more games like this.

The reason why you have huge demand but no houses are building are because the demand is for low income housing. I am guessing where you zoned the land value is too high. In the layers section on the left there is a land value layer so you can use that to find a lower value area and zone there and people will flood in

I'm very very glad that you got on board with this game, I've seen other gamers such as raptor and skye do this, but me being a cities skylines buff and loving city planning and all, I don't really enjoy a lot of the things they do... I am excited to see where you go with this series

Of course the way around mandated national healthcare insurance is to just nationalise healthcare, but that’s not an option rip. Also, I’m glad you’re trying to keep everything political neutral. If people get offended by the policies you’re pursuing in a game that says more about them than you!

Interesting take on a city builder: graphics are reminding me of the early days of simcity [outdated, small plot size and only grid building], but with a little tropico mechanics inside [interesting]: which is totally lacking in skyline. Not sure if this is a game for streaming though: every decision made by streamer is going to be discussed with a political debate in the comments.

yeah, thats the one thing that may hold the game back, is the lack of streamers wanting to play a game that might get thier viewers arguing with eachother, or even unsubscribing from them... Which really sucks, because this game is exactly what the city building genre needs to keep it going. SimCity wasnt up to the task of making a decent game, so Skylines came in and gave us traffic, but we need to keep seeing more ideas and mechanics if we want this genre to stay alive. I just hope that I can make building and foliage mods for it, because thats my jam in SimCity 4 and Cities: Skylines

Speaking of "pipes being underneath the roads", when I play any city builder game that requires the player to build pipes, I DO build mine directly underneath the roads! I've done that ever since "SimCity 2000".

This is quite an educational game! Just like Resqwec said, don't let some comments faze you. This game might show what it takes to build and run a city/country 😁

informal settlements has happened to every you tuber playing this game which makes me wonder as with all games with an economic and political mechanic .... are these things just tacked on to give the player a sense that he is in a deep simulation but in reality the game will pretty much run the same no matter what you do because the mechanics do not really work. Developers need to hire people that really work in these fields in real life , guys that work with real economic facts figures and computer models and develop games where the core mechanics are legit....now that would be a game worth playing fo hours on end. Unfortunately most you tubers seem to get fed up of this game.. citystate 2 after a few hours and do not return.

What I like about this game so far is that while I'm not sure how realistic it is since these types of policies often have many layers and sublayers, but by and large it gives a good education in politics and economics, understanding that no matter which path you choose, there are gives and takes, that there is no policy that will make both sides really happy, that politics really is compromise, something really lacking at least in the US today.

Thinks he’s just a little left leaning, but mostly centrist. Proceeds to enact every left-wing policy he comes across. 🙄

I've been intrigued by the concept of a game like this since trying to model the "planned" national capital I had in an EU4 campaign into Cities Skylines-- plus being new and complex it's like a two way learning experience for us and for you! I hope you stick with this and feel free to try different policies to see how they work mechanically w/the game mechanics ;) leave the heated debates to the Cims!!
