Hello Henry; these are super videos. I rode through Butte almost thirty years ago with my brother-in-law (we were heading back from Sturgis SD) and I remember thinking, "What an honest town -- gritty, hard-working, not gentrified. " It has a character that sometimes gets lost when city fathers get carried away with Disney-fying the historic core. I'm enjoying your content; subscribed! Also, recommended to my other brother -in-law for his treadmill sessions.

Thanks! That's a good description of Butte. They often describe themselves as "Butte Tough" which is apt I think. I saw some signs some people are trying to fix up their own little corners but it's tough to do with the economics they have there. They are trying hard though to build something vibrant again. It's a great place to visit for sure. -Henry

This was great. It took me back to the days when I lived in Butte, some of the happiest and most carefree days of my life. I lived in a walkup apartment above Harrington Surgical, which you walk by near the end of your video. I followed the same path you did after that every day because I worked in the building next door. And my hangout was a coffee house at Main and Galena, now an oxygen store which you walked by earlier. Really brings back memories.

@CityWalks. Did you know they had been making a movie here in Butte for the past few years? With Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford? I think the name of it is 1923. It made a lot of money for the makers. It is a prequel for the TV series called Yellowstone, with Kevin Costner. I did not like that series. Too violent and full of profanity. It did not show Montana as it really is and was. It was made in the beautiful Bitterroot Valley where I used to live. A gorgeous place.
@marjoriegarner53699 ай бұрын
@CityWalks. I spent about an hour writing you a long comment about my experience living in Butte, Deer Lodge, and many towns in Montana for the past 54 years. Somehow, it was deleted from the comment section. It's probably my fault. Not familiar with this technical mode of communication, I don't have the energy to write it all over again. But I have a lot to share with you that might help you with your walks. I've been in Montana 54 years and have lived and worked in many small Montana towns, 25 years in Butte. I'd love to talk with you. I'm 82 years old this year. And have many Montana stories to tell.

Hah, people joke it can snow in Montana anytime between July 5 and July 4th. But really, probably Mid June through September is fairly safe. Lots of rain and little snow squalls in April and May. -Henry
@marjoriegarner53699 ай бұрын
Virtual, it almost never stops snowing in s.w. Montana. I've seen it snow every month of the year. April is one of the snowy-est. But with climate change, the summers are warmer and longer. It freezes at night almost every month too. It can be cold here at night, all sumer, especially in s.w. Montana.
