Civ 6 | A Perfect Yosemite Start With Eleanor, Huzzah!!! - (#1 Deity France Civilization VI)

In this game of Civ 6, we’ll be playing as Eleanor’s France, and the objective today was to play a much, much smaller map to the ones we’ve been playing recently.
I’ve popped 4 civilizations and 6 city states on a map meant for just two people - it’s packed TIGHT! Can we make it out and find some space in a world with literally none on offer?
A lovely Yosemite start will help a lot!

😅 lol, in general a misplaced city overall! should have placed it on tile to the left/top (or ivory) tile -> and grab that iron tile asap. and if ba trieu "plays" well she will culture bomb ursa with a tanh 😂

23:20 I was screaming "Nooo" at that moment. That was a perfect Aqueduct tile. Aqueduct would have made Angkor-wat possible, and would have increased housing. Maybe I am mistaken, but the +1 faith adjacency for Holy site were accessible at other spots. P.S. Love the game though, as always. Thanks for delivering it and good luck!

if the court of love snowball doesnt get going you might want to help with some hypercharged spies: with Machiavellinism, Intelligence Agency, Promotion Linguist and Golden Age dedication Bodyguard of Lies you can reduce the time to complete all spy missions by 100%; combined with promotion to better Form Unrest you can reduce loyalty of a city by -10 every turn

I found a wetlands map where I cud play as Vietnam and surround a central 1 tile city with thành encampments for max of 74 culture lol so much fun. My army is close to everything when I build them lol

I like the idea of Sacred Places. I do wish it was each wonder produces 1 of each yield though. 2 per city with a wonder isn't quite enough to justify it. (As always, the religions expanded mod is the answer to vanilla pantheon/religion choices being so limited.)

You can make friends with vietnam turn 1 like you can with Gilgamesh, makes your life easier. Works with Gandhi and Kublai (both versions) as well

Actually, earth goddess was one very praticabile way to play with Eleanor, thinking about it, chateau give +1 appeal to adjacent tiles.. But that early boost with ToA, with all that camps and plantation was to good, give so much MOMENTUM that is undeniably too good to not playing in it..i made it same calculation on my currently play with Mali Keita game

*Ursa:* _"I am playing as the French version of Eleanor of Aquitaine. In my opinion, _*_the INFERIOR version_*_ of Eleanor of Aquitaine."_ I don't disagree. Firaxis gave France some awful abilities. It was way worse in Vanilla, it was like playing with no ability at all. Some would argue it was playing with a handicap: *Grand Tour:* Vanilla has way fewer Wonders (no Apadana, Mausoleum, Kilwa, Biosphère…), and do require a lot more Production (Eiffel Tower: 2100 Production instead of 1620). Even with +20%, it was a Production trap. -Even if Factory / Powerplant stacking circumvented the problem.- *Château:* It gave only 1 Culture. *1 and only 1 CULTURE.* It also needed to be adjacent to a non-floodplain River, something already too valuable for settling City-Center, or building Aqueduct and Commercial Hub. There is no spare room for Château. It did have the +2 Culture *IF* adjacent to a Wonder (not even *PER* adjacent Wonders...). But since you had not much Wonders, the improvement was mediocre at best. *Garde Impériale:* The unit itself was good. But there is no Line Infantry. It was a standalone unit you needed to hard-build, at a time where upgrading was way cheaper. So going Infantry was just better and easier. Last, but definitively least: *Catherine de Medici:* She was the lamest leader. She had access to an earlier Spy. Not a free Spy. Just a free slot: you needed to build it (Spy required way more Production). And Spies weren’t more powerful: no free Promotion. That is it: just a free slot at Castle, without Machiavalism to boost Production. She also had +1 Diplomatic Visibility, but at the time it didn’t give +3 CS. It just gave you access to more “noise”. Because your screen was flooded with meaningless information, it was even a handicap in multiplier because your screen was obscured by the amount of useless information (before they update it to filter the information given).

I would love they update France, at least the Grand Tour and the Château ability. They would still be Wonder related and Culture related, but more fun to have. Culture/Gold is boring when Persia and China also have a Culture/Gold improvement. *Grand Tour:* +1 Production for every Population when producing Wonders. Tourism from wonders of any era is +100%. Cities provide +5% Culture and +5% Food for each Wonders they have built. *Château:* French tile improvement unlocked by Feudalism. Minimum Appeal of Charming. Cannot be adjacent to another Château. +1 Culture, +1 Food, +1 Housing and +1 Appeal. +1 Culture if built on a River. +1 Food for each adjacent Luxury Resource. +1 Housing (requires Sanitation) +1 Culture (require Cultural Heritage) Provides Tourism from Culture after researching Flight. Grand Tour still give Production to Wonder, but now it is linked to Population. It would kind of weak in Ancient and Classical era, but will be more powerful once the Château is unlocked at Feudalism. It also a hint of "City of Light" ability in Civilization V, where you built all wonders in the Capital, but here you will be rewarded with +5% Culture and Food per Wonder. The +5% Food is both for synergy with the Château, but also to reduce the problem of starvation when all the farmland would be replaced by Wonders. The Château is now a Culture/Food improvement never seen before. It is a glorified Farm that generates Culture as well, or a Culture Stepwell. It no longer depends on Wonder to have proper yield, even if Wonder would raise the Appeal to be able to put some. The Culture could be weaker overall and less interesting for Flight, but allows the city to grow big.

The problem with building Stonehenge over a holy site is the inability to purchace religious units, which leaves you at risk being overrun by an enemy religion with no means of fighting back besides war and the AI often has a much higher military strength then the player this early on in the game, making that option problematic.
