Zanzibar has been my favourite city state for a while. The game gets way easier when you have Zanzibar and great people who provide unique amenities late game when the game runs out of amenities for you to acquire.

Amenities are probably the most slept on part of the game. Getting up to +20% yields in your core cities is huge.

Internal trade routes are stronger but Im cant keep my urges when I swim through naval side of tech tree and see 17 gold per route in relatively early midgame. Or maybe when you see a peter trade route with additional 2 culture 2 science when you are still weak?

It is a slippery slope once you start going down the naval trade route my friend. It’s all have dependent. On average early growth and getting my districts out is what I value most. Now Kumasi exists so there is a point where growth is less important.
