Civ 6 | I Didn’t Expect This Turn 1 Challenge To Be This Hard!!! - (#1 Deity Rome Civilization VI)

In this game of Civ 6, we’ll be playing as Trajan’s Rome, and the objective today is to take on a challenge I drew about a few days ago in one of my pictures, on Deity in Civilization Six!
How hard is the game if, Turn 1, you press future tech and future civic, and you NEVER press those buttons again? I mean it, NEVER. Turns out, very very hard. And REALLY weird.

This would be even more wild with tech shuffle mode on. You may never even unlock certain techs and you would have to adapt and play around it.

In today's episode, chaos claims the Roman empire! After a cameo by Crustus the Enraged, barbarians decide to reenact the siege of Rome. Then the English decide to invade, and Rome discovers the most terrifying thing known to man, lava bees! After a surprise backstab by Jadwiga, England manages to take Rome. Rome then sues for peace with England, which they agree to, and Rome falls to barbarism and loyalty pressure. The Cree then makes an appearance at the worst time possible, and the remnants of the Roman empire enters a dark age, but manages to win back Rome from the barbarians. After taking a Polish borde city, Rome manages to convince Poland to give peace a chance, and gives back the city as a gesture of good will. A plan is then formed to recover from the massive war, and Rome's first Govenor is recruited. After a costly mistake, some juggling of the time-wimey ball (a mad man with a blue box was apparently involved), we get a do over and discover England's capital. Will Rome ever recover? Will England return in greater numbers to take Rome again? Will Jadwiga ever not settle in the most annoying manner possible? We might learn the answers to these questions and more in the next episode! Turn in next time, same Ursa time, same Ursa channel!

Props for not restarting after the double deity rush. What a rough start. Knight rushes are actually viable if you beeline them, which your techpath is. 50 strength is enough to batter ancient walls if you cycle your troops.

My god, I definitely am not the kind of person who is stunned by info or who does the things that you see on Reddit all the time where it’s like “I have 3500 hours in Civ and didn’t know…..” I have watched tons of of your videos and Potatoe’s and Bos’s videos, so I’m familiar with a lot of things. But: you can fortify, cancel the order, and battle cry to upgrade and still fortify!?!?!? I have like 5000 hours of Civ 6, and today I learned. Thank you Ursa

Might well be the only game ever where you build Bolshoi and hope it unlocks governments! Cocksford university is probably worth a build too, for similar reasons.

What a rough start! Good job for hanging in there, I am hoping you can turn this into a win. Before you go full on domination victory, I remember losing a game in which I temporarily lost my capital and even though I had all the other original capitals in the world bar one the last AI civilization that still had their capital got the victory. I hope they patched that because it's dumb and when it happened it was years ago but I wouldn't put it past Firaxis to still have this bug in the game after all these years.

Was the AI with their original capital the one that took yours? Or completely different?

@Pinguthepenguinu completely different, the AI that I lost my capital to for a couple of turns was the first one I conquered. Similar to Ursa I survived a deity AI warrior rush after losing the capital and since I played without artificial restrictions I just chopped out an army of legions and immediately killed the AI that nearly took me out.

If you get the great scientist Zhang Heng and use him after getting the Celestial Navigation eureka you can get harbors. Also, if you build ###### University the two free techs you get will likely be Irrigation and Astrology. Additionally, you could get free techs (or civics) from Tribal Villages.

It might be rare, but sometimes tribal villages can give you free tech, so it is possible you could get irrigation later!

It's pretty brutal getting the double diety rush early on. It seems like it would be so important to optimize, and being forced to respond to aggression is going to make that tough. I was going to suggest the importance of great scientists to get those techs you can't snag. But it might be too late for that. This feels like one of those frustrating games where you just get beat to the punch left and right. Though with all those mountains, I'm sure Ursa will pull it out and find a way to get a rush going.

Hilarious idea, you are going full AI I like it, say goodbye to tier 2 governments since they are not essential, and possibly to tier 3 ones as well. Because you know ai is still at classical republic when they are in the modern era.

You have no idea how long I've waited for a Civ KZbinr to try a challenge like this. I wonder if it's possible to get the early techs naturally later in the game by having the science from the boost catch up to the Tech cost as it lowers in each era? It'd probably not be until the Industrial or Modern era that you'd get Irrigation and Astrology, but at least you'd eventually get them.

I bet if you can get the policy card wonders and you pick a good legacy card (probably Oligarchy -> Classical Republic) and you get Potala Palace/Forbidden City/Alhambra/Big Ben (in that order) then you might have a functional govt. Also domination victory without flanking bonuses or discounted upgrades would be super tough

Even after 2600 hours of playing civ6, I, too, when I first meet someone in the early game (like vicky), send a delegation, and just press the 'declare friendship' button instantly even though that has never worked ever 😂 (expect for gilgabro ofc)

I think it would be good to explain the Ursa bear, crab god, and vampire bit at the start because it’s meant to get new people to sub but will be completely unintelligible for new people due to all the backstory you need to know. If I was new, I would think scary crab god is threatening me (not Ursa) to subscribe or else, and it wouldn’t make any sense, lol. 😅

actually jadwiga calls herself a king cause in polish the word for queen literally means "the wife of the king" so something like queen consort in english. jadwiga was a full blown ruler so she called herself a king

I can only see domination and diplomacy... with no holy sites (rock bands) even with Biosphere I don't see us winning culturally before the AI's spaceship. However, maybe a generous neighbor might be able to provide us with conquered holy sites... (mind you, you won't have any +faith cards).

You unlock Man at Arms before Legion. You'll never be able to get your unique unit at all.

So weirdly, you CAN still build Legion, and I do! Legion is 10 iron, and MaA is 20 iron - so if you have between 10 and 19 in your empire when you select the production, the game lets you build legion still
