Watching this video made me think that, if you capture a settler but cant get it out alive, you can "give it" to an enemy city state so that you can take it back latter maybe, and you lose nothing from it

One mistake I would like to point out is sending delegations. Just not worth it unless you are really scared of war or going for culture victory. Its better to prepare for war than to try and prevent it

0:32 The biggest mistake in Civ 6 is buying it on the Switch. Yeah, you can play it on the toilet but it takes five minutes for the AI to take their turns. Don't make the same mistake I did lol

You can turn off combat animations and enable quick movement. Cuts the wait time by over half.

a good point is what type of unit you are using for early exploring, warrior and slingers or scouts? a rule that I use is only scouts are allowed to leave my immediate surroundings and explore the world to meet other civs and city states Military can only make a circle around my capital and then I move them back to defend my lands kinda like National Guard X Expeditionary forces mentality usually why I open with one scout and slot in the extra xp card, I need him to hit that extra 20 combat strength third promotion so I can send him on a global journey

Generally I make scout my first build item for scouting efficiency, maybe build a second one later on if I'm on a large map or the first one got unlucky with some barbs or something. Scouts have rapidly diminishing returns after one or two.. You should have enough warriors/slingers such that even when one or two are out busting barb camps, you're not utterly screwed if another barb camp spawns near your capital. Don't neglect your early military, that's how you lose these games.

I just get a few scouts later on once I can sell diplo favor for gold, and get none early to get settling asap

@@alex2005z Scout Slinger Settler has always been my build. Monument tends to be the thing I put off until later just because scouting is just too important and needs to be done prior to the first settler coming out.

That's how I do it too. Recon units are for exploring far-off lands, melee units are for exploring immediate surroundings (and taking out barb camps).

If I'm not too late, he uses Rise and Fall and Gathering Storm DLCs. And that is not a map mod. Just click on the third from the left button above the map.

Stopping loyalty is easy, you just have to beeline to the capital. Then you can take everything else without loyalty issues.

On Deity it's not easy, they start with walls, and you need to get a quick battering ram and a swarm of warriors. That takes a lot of early production, but if the city state is in a 🤌 location and close enough.... Go for it :)

Whether it's city state or an AI settler, it's nearly always worth stealing it; a free settler is one of the biggest single snowballs you can get in the game and Civ is all about snowballing
