Great videos Jack. I've always had problems with "how would you influence others and did you learn from the situation". Picked up lots of nuggets from these videos. Going for a few civil service roles at the moment. The situational judgement tests can be tricky

Hello Jac, I am hoping you read and respond to this please. But first of all thank you for these videos, I have learnt a lot from them and very grateful. My question is how do answer these questions for a customer service role within the civil service. 1)Tell me about the time when you have had to make an objective and impartial decision. 2) Are you someone who enjoys seeking out information? How does one go about answering this questions pls.

I have a question (have my SJT tests soon!!). In situations where you hear from someone else that a colleague has had issues working with you in the past, do you address this and mention these comments to the person, or just let it go and be really approachable and open the next time you work together? Which one aligns more with CS behaviours?
@marcus23362 жыл бұрын
Really helpful video - what helped me get a job in the civil service was the "civil service success" course made by actual recruiters in the civil service - it has all the behaviour and situational judgement answers and examples along with what to expect at interview if that helps.

Jac, I have a question for you. I get asked this question a lot. It is not the question that I find problematic but the word 'stakeholder'. I understand the dictionary meaning, but I am struggling to situate the word stakeholder in a civil service role. Who is a stakeholder?
@JacWilliamsVideo Жыл бұрын
Good question, I always think of it as anyone who has any interest in the work you are doing. You have many levels of stakeholder. Some are purely just interested and have no responsibility - this could be another team in the office. Then you have those who are very interested as they are responsible for the work - this could be the director who has to present your work to the board/management. I suggest you look up RACI stakeholder mapping. This will give you an idea of how to think of stakeholders. I hope that helps.

I have a job interview coming up with NPS (Civil Service) - Engaging People on Probation Manager. It's a Level 3 HEO grade. Skills needed are good communication skills, ability to work together with others, the ability to keep sensitive information confidential. Which of the various Civil Service Behaviours will be prioritised? Also for Working Together as a strength question. Do you concentrate on one individual strength i.e. Organisation or do you talk about multiple strengths i.e. Leader, Organiser or Communication etc. Any insight, help or info appreciated. Is the question designed to show what you can bring to the role?

Hi Jac! Thank you so much for this guidance. I have an interview where they are asking 6 behaviour questions. Can behaviour questions be asked in two ways? One as a situational based question and/or a competency (previous experience) question? Thank you!
@JacWilliamsVideo2 жыл бұрын
Yes, but if there's 6 then they may just do one type of question for each. E.g a situational for one, a past-evidence for another.
