A big thank you to @DaishoTactical for helping with this video.
In shooters, peeking an angle is incredibly dangerous. And if an opponent is holding down that angle, death is almost certain. There have been tools introduced into games to try and even the odds - many adapted from real life. The most well known of these, is of course, the flashbang.
So, whats the difference between video game and real life flashbangs?

I want to apologize for the image at 2:55, and thank everyone who noticed that it is AI generated. When I make these videos, I typically build up a library of images to refer to while I do my research. In this instance, I did not realize this was an AI-generated image. I have since blurred the image, though it may take KZbin some time to update this. Please note that this mistake is solely my own, and has nothing to do with the information provided from Rob at Daisho Tactical. On a personal note, I am vehemently against any AI-generated art. Nothing on this channel is AI generated (other than the aforementioned image), and that's how things will remain so long as I am running this channel.

One flashbang fact about their effectiveness and how they can be rendered ineffective comes from Fallujah, US marines during the battle found that their flashbangs overtime lost effectiveness, what was happening was that combatants who were caught in a breach but survived spread information about Marine breaching tactics, specifically how they would always start a breach with a flashbang, this allowed combatants who knew to be able to anticipate when a flashbang was thrown, and to move to cover or concealment, or simply expect the jarring effects and power through them, and then immediately be focused on the area they were breaching from, making breaches far harder later on in the battle. Flashbangs are most effective when your enemy doesnt know you have them, and using them too much, becoming too predictable, renders their effects null.

I watched something from Chris the Cop about Ready or Not. In one part, he was talking about the prevalence of swat teams in the 90s using flash bangs constantly. Eventually they mostly phased them about, even mentioning they dont really do much direct action these days and theres less loss of life all around if they just surround the house, mega phone, tear gas if needed, etc. He went on to say there was many cases of young children being burned or even killed by flashbangs. I believe there was a case of one landing in a crib. Can you imagine? Terrible. He also told a story of one being shot on the guys tactical vest (plate carriers werent a thing in the 90's) and it went off and got him in the face. Killed the officer.

2:02 false. A grenade doesn’t have to launch projectiles. That’s why fragmentation grenades were a separate class from high explosive grenades. Also slower burning/lower energy explosives/pyrotechnics already existed before flashbangs. Smoke, chemical effect and indindiary grenades are all still grenades. By definition a grenade is a hand thrown explosive.

I know "non-lethal" really means "less-than-lethal" A flash (also called concussion grenade) is one of those that's supposed to be less-than-lethal. It can still fvck people up or even kill them.

Yeah 160db of pressure. Most people don't know that "loud noises" are pressure waves, and that's WAY more than enough to scramble your brain. Heck, I just finished watching a thing where some SOF guys mentioned they run mandatory suppressors now because they were giving each other concussions from muzzle blast during breaches.

@bennyb.1742 a disproportionately high number of mortarmen come out of the military with traumatic brain injuries, not from any one incident but from the constant pressure waves that are happening less than a meter from their heads. An ex coworker of mine who was a Chuck showed me one of his cranial CT scans and then a bunch done of boxers and football players who'd been diagnosed with chronic traumatic encephalopathy, exact same patterns. The mortar is beating them about the head every time it fires.

There've been police standoffs that last over 24 hours. As long as you're not doing something like executing hostages or setting up explosives, the police have all the time in the world to wait for you to change your mind about what you're doing. And every now and then they might use a persuasion tool like a flashbang.

Fun fact: flash bangs do not work on Night Vision. Night Vision goggles also make using scopes and iron sights impossible which means you are locked to 1x Holographic sights or IR Lasers. I recommend 1x Holographic sights because the IR Laser will make you easy to spot. Note it will still deafen the target but it will not blind them.

This is a person who never used nv posting. Use active instead of passive. Passive is a last resort…once you go live the muzzle flash is brighter than any active aiming device you can use. That’s with a flash hiding suppressor.
