another important thing to consider is the fact that game developers have to worry about lawsuits from gun companies for using their products. Kriss, unlike alot of gun companies, are very friendly towards game developers and allow them to use the Vector in games for free.

For the same reason the F-2000 and PP-19 Bizon are seen is so many video games, cause it's cool and looks futuristic. As you mentioned, all submachine guns have become a rare sight, as they don't really stack up to rifle caliber carbines, so this video could basically apply to all of them. In video games, submachine guns generally deal equal damage to assault rifles, despite shooting pistol bullets which wouldn't pierce any body armor from the military settings they appears in.

@@catpurrito5586 Enough to drop you quite easily even if you wear armor. Armor generally isn't considered in video games and even if it was, 5.56 at the close range video games always take place, will hurt you enough to put you out of combat. I've seen Ukrainians and Russians get hit by 5.45 and 5.56, the bruises they leave even if they don't go through is quite impressive. Let's not forget that in video games, you generally play as ultra elite soldiers, who will have access to armor piercing ammo.

Funnily enough, the Kriss Vector is highly popular in real life too, just not in the "real steel" way. I live in Queensland, Australia. Airsoft is illegal here. However, gelsoft, which is just airsoft with gel "orbeez" for ammunition, is completely legal here. The Kriss Vector gelsoft SMG is extremely popular in the gelsoft scene. You cannot go to a single skirmish without seeing at least one person rocking a Vector. I was one of those people. The Vector was my very first gelsoft gun. I loved it, until the gearbox shat the bed. I still want to get another one eventually, since I harvested all the upgrade parts from the dead Vector's corpse and still have them.
@goatguythepowerful12 күн бұрын
Why is Airsoft illegal?
@BLLACKSTTAR12 күн бұрын
@goatguythepowerful After the Port Arthur Massacre in 1996, guns in Australia got severe restrictions placed on them, and a lot got taken away from their owners. Unfortunately because the government here is braindead and doesn't understand what makes a firearm a firearm, airsoft got swept up in these restrictions too. Because of the restrictions making a firearms license required to own an airsoft gun, all fields lost money and shut down, essentially killing airsoft.

Some additional commentary on SMG's in general, as well as the Kriss Vector: 1) A major contributor to SMG's prevalence in games opposed to their IRL usefulness is inadequate simulation of armor and penetration mechanics. SBR's have nearly replaced SMG's in most use cases for two simple reasons. They share ammunition logistics and training requirements with the most common arms platform, the assault/auto rifle (M4, AK, HK416). By using an intermediate battle cartridge such as the 5.56x45mm or 7.62x39mm, SBR's also outperform SMG's in terms of kinetic energy delivered, penetration of body armor, and effective range. Most video games do not consider body armor penetration at all, and grossly distort "damage falloff" due to range or caliber. Making number hit zero fastest is often the only concern because a health value and damage value is often the only variables at play. 2) While the Kriss recoil redirection system may not be as effective as advertised, and introduce it's own reciprocation problems, I do believe there is strong evidence to suggest that the form factor of the Vector is a legitimate advancement. Take a look at the R-301 from Apex Legends and the Commando rifle from Halo: Infinite. I am extremely interested in seeing the development of a piston driven (like the AK or XM7), traditional or bullpup, intermediate carbine or battle rifle. The ergonomics are better, the manual of arms is simpler, the modularity is more opportunistic, and the mechanics are more reliable. We have seen the XM7 fire an extremely high pressure cartridge somewhere between 800-900rpm with VERY manageable recoil (for a CQB context). If we could combine those mechanical characteristics with the ergonomics of the straight slanted magazine and compactness of a foldable or collapsing PDW stock... I'd imagine we'd have the perfect CQB weapon. 3) Economics often cause innovation to move slowly. One of the major concerns of widespread adoption is the development cost, startup production cost, and generational improvement costs. Very few civilians can afford a semi-auto locked Kriss Vector or PS90. Militaries won't adopt "the real thing" until it's become reliable enough and sourcing is stable enough to warrant replacement of decades worth legacy tech, never mind performance. Video games don't have ANY of those problems, it's a digital asset that can be tweaked by editing numbers in a file and design issues largely ignored. PS: Someone please give me my dream gun, a bullpup R-301 firing .277 FURY at 810rpm with a conversion kit for 8.6BLK firing at 600rpm! Edit: PS#2 - An R-99 firing 5.7x28mm at 1200rpm seems pretty doable too. BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRT

It's obvious that the Vector's unique look lends itself to being included despite rarely if ever being used in real life. There are a lot of submachine gun designs that look superficially like other submachine guns (usually the MP5, UMP45, MAC10, or Uzi), and when you want an interesting roster of guns, the way it looks is probably more important in videogames than its real-life usage. The Pancor Jackhammer and AA-12 also have the same reputation.

Always been a sucker for this gun because of its crazy hyper-futuristic look, stupid fast RPM, and simple-genius mechanism. Bought a 2nd Gen 9mm Vector no more than 6 months ago and I dearly love it. Definitely not as reliable as something like an MP5 and it’s a bitch to service (I honestly just get it professionally cleaned because the guts are so annoying to work on) but god damn, always been one of my favorite guns since the moment I first saw it.
@AJ_Sparten13374 ай бұрын
I own a 9mm Vector Gen II. It's very fun to shoot and does not have recoil. It's biggest downside (aside from the lack of a fun switch because F*** FOPA) is that its reliability to cycle is atrociously low if you do not consistently clean it. Most firearms start to have malfunctions due to carbon buildup after about 1000 rounds and those rounds can be fired over the course of weeks to months. That is when you should be forced to clean your weapon and lube it so that it can continue to cycle. The vector builds up carbon so fast that if you're not cleaning it after you're done shooting it that day, you'll have malfunctions the next day if you start to shoot it again; and you'll experience it after 500 rounds anyways. It's still one of my most favorite guns and is one of the most pleasant and enjoyable to shoot. Honestly, it's one of the best platforms for home defense.
