It's about time. I'm glad that you've decided to check Raging Barbarians for it's definitely one that I do every time that I play. That and Complete Kills. I'm also a little disappointed that you've decided to do standard. It'll make the game run by quickly. You said that you like to take your time while playing. Sometimes when there's just one little barbarian left they just commit suicide by attack your troops. I would recommend not to start wars early like you did last time. Get some money pumping into your empire that way you can make troops. There is a lot of sugar and gold around your lands. I would definitely work on them and get gold to use for trade. Another thing that you should do is build a warrior and have it be garrisoned inside of the city not only to protect your lands but also the whatever worker(s) that are around it. That way whatever military units that you have left can hunt down the barbarian encampments and take them out one at a time and receive units. I have a feeling that Mercantile, Marine, and Religious are the more numerous city-states than Militaristic. That's why in nearly every game that I've played there's only at max 2 of them. Sometimes there's none and it sucks. I would definitely recommend finding a militaristic city-state and gain some influence over them in order to receive special units from them.

This game is so unique and gives a really interesting perspective on alternate history. In one play through that I did, Germany was where Canada is, France had the US and most of S America, China was in its respective place (Me), Arabia was in Russia, The US was in Germany, and the aztecs were in the nordic states, lol.

Hey SolarGamer. I like to watch your videos, the commentary is great and sometimes funny. Serious at one moment, crazy at another. Have you ever had problems with your youtube videos because of the civ 5 background music? I noticed most lets players put it off.

Nope, I have no problems with it. The issue resides with editing and recording. Most KZbinrs just set up fraps and record both the audio of their mic and the game together. This can cause the game volume to be louder sometimes. I record my voice with Audacity and record the game sounds with Fraps. This way I can raise or lower the game sounds without making my voice quieter.

Once the scout gets updated to an archer, you can move AND make a ranged attack in the same turn. So you can continue to explore while attacking nearby threats. So getting bogged down with barbarians is inexcusable

I'd definately pick the honor opener as one of the first three policies for Germany, just to reveal the camps. Also you seem to forget that your archerscout can move into rough terrain and then still shoot.

I also discovered the barbarians' weaknesses: SPEARS!!!!!!!!!!!! Scouts, Spearmen, Pikemen, Ect. Scouts are like 10 times stronger than in other games. Wait... Are barbarians horses disguised as mean humans?

Like.. would you just place it where it looks like the best resources and you're next to a river or water or would you walk with your settler to find a slightly better place?

It's incredibly risky to not settle on the first turn. The game usually places you on a perfect location, however, the tile adjacent to it might be a bit better. The reason could range from an extra resource to having ocean access. It's entirely up to the player.

Ryan, I may not be a great Civ 5 player, but I think that you should build an extra warrior (if you get the chance) just to deal with barbarian raids. After that go and wipe out the one near Geneva and then proceed North to the encampment in which you failed to get. Also, I noticed that you were starving in the older Germany LP, so this time maybe get the stonehenge. Love the series and maybe a double episode on monday?

Once I had an allied roman player and they had some fortified spearmen way off of their borders and there was a barbarian spearmen unit that was circling it and a barbarian hand-axe that attacked them every turn. It was so annoying because every turn my view went fown there. But it was so ridiculous!

I'm not sure that the AI will change it's victory condition bias if some VC's are unchecked. In other words you probably will still have several AI's going for cultural victories even though it is not possible. The AI can't win by Domination anyway (unless they capture your capital), so this definitely loads the deck heavily in your favor. You have infinite time to win.

It's annoying when people in the comments don't realise what raging barbarians does. It spawns encampments with barbarians equal to the tech level of the most advanced player. Either he has the same troops as he does or he has trouble defeating them because their too advanced. Seriously, get it right!

I've found if u go into strategic view when you hit the turn completion it goes slightly faster
