I had Alexander buy up all the city states... Only way to stop him from a Dip Vic was to wipe him off the map. *So I did.* Took friggin ages, but I managed to knock him out of the game, then I bought the City States myself and became World Leader. My finest hour.

Then a few other civs called me a warmonger for killing Alexander (Even though he was the closest to victory, and I had taken part in 0 wars up to that point) Then another one declared war on me, so I killed that one. They started denouncing me, so I killed them. Soon it was me, and whoever was too scared to fight. Despite it all, I got science victory.

When I'm about to crush someone they'll usually offer me quite a bit of resources or even cities to reach peace. I usually decline as they almost always denounce the very next turn and then declare war as soon as they can.

The AI gets such an unfair advantage in this game. I was playing last night on an Earth map with true start locations as America. Even though I didn't pick them to be in the game, the damn Shoshone was in my game. Within about ten turns, I had established three cities. Washington D.C., Guantanamo, and my other city on the west coast that I didn't really care about. To try and establish a city connection, I built a road between washington and the city on the opposite coast. Pocatello gets pissed at me for settling that city about ten tiles from his capital and asks me to stop. I comply. Then after I build the road between said city and washington, he settles another damn city on top of the road. Then he settles outside washington. I ask him to stop. He says "No" So within these ten or so turns, I find out that he not only somehow managed to get a formidable military built up, but he has eleven cities that are already somehow expanding their borders like crazy. The final straw was stealing technology from me. So I nuked him. The end.

My friend in the lead finally figured how to counter cultural victory without bruce force (seriously, it's surprising how few people know about cultural victory details) and I was just too bored to try and win differently. I jokingly said "Well, now I can just give you all my stuff so you can end this game more quickly and defeat our other friend, since I just can't win now". He said that's a good idea. So I send him a deal which was about transfering everything that can be transfered... Little catch though, the deal was him transfering it to me. That ghandi flash... xD But the reason he becomes so aggressive is because of a coding fault. (initially) Ghandi was the most peaceful leader among all, and was at his lowest automatically, being aggression level 0. But basically when you enter the modern era, everyone gets a little bit less aggressive. Ghandi being at 0 already became even less aggressive. Negative aggressive. ... So when he got to -1, he automatically leveled up to the highest aggression level (it's how programming works, don't ask why. It just does). The developers thought it was so funny that they actually left it in the game. And so came to be, ghandi, the pacifist nuclear warmonger. ^^

+Quinn Bernkastel That was actually what happened. In Civ I or II (I don't remember), Gandhi had the lowest aggression-level of 1 (up to 255 I think). When the AI chose Democracy (or Freedom?) as ideology, they would lose two aggression-points though, which put him at 255 instead and made him super-aggressive. Later on it's basically just become a joke to make Gandhi the most likely to fire Nukes.

I tried diplomacy victory and actually made friends with everyone except for Greece who i denounced because they were attacking other nations. Then i allied myself with other nation in war (which i didn't declare anyway) and destroyed it and liberate many cities. That for some reason made me a warmonger and everyone started to hated me so i lost World leader elections. That lead me to build nuclear weapons and i bombed entire fucking planet. They wanted warmonger ? They recived one.

I'm a game I'm playing as Japan, I started out peaceful and everyone loved me (except England, because the city states liked me more) then Napoleon declared war on me. I responded with force and within a few turns took one of his cities. He tried asking for peace but had nothing worth it to me. So I proceeded to consume his entire civilization into a serious anime addiction and still maintained one of the happiest civilizations in the game (after a bit of rebuilding anyway). Well everyone began accusing me of being blood thirsty and war mongerer. So that's exactly what I became. So currently I have the English surrounded and down to only London left in their civilization. Japan is super fun to play as, their army is nearly unstoppable with their special ability. Looks like it's time to conquer the world and prove once and for all that ANIME IS THE SUPERIOR ANIMATION STYLE!!!! MUHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

With no happiness the games 8 difficulties would be much more extreme (easy would be easier, hard would be harder with no inbetween). The AI would grow to a monstrous amount of cities without any limit whatsoever. On deity you'd likely never catch up. On Prince you would probably win by turn 200.

1 Start as Gandi 2 now you can take cities with elephants 3 squeez a city between 3 other superpowers and take them one at a time befriending some and war mongering with others keeping them isolated. 4 take them down one by one 4.5 always start a war with enough troops to take down 2 empires 5 now you have a modern army while the most impressive thing they have by the end is a cannon

I don't remember anymore a civilization game where I don't fight and defeat at least 4 others nations in prince level and kill them one by one after they all attack me. The trick is this - you got to kill them and not die youself 😁.

this is so hilariously accurate. On my first playthrough, I had various countries asking for a declaration of friendship. I accepted. Then Japan (a longstanding ally) asked to join him in on a war, which I did. Other nations then denounced me, INCLUDING JAPAN, then they went to war.. against me.. I held out until peace treaties were offered, and Japan (who had attacked me as well) immediately liked me again and wanted another declaration of friendship. That was a very early lesson of "Fuck the AI, never trust them".

Finishing the games is quite hard and there was 1 game where I was 1 turn away from winning on time, and then they all voted for someone else as World Leader... Well... this is what online play is like. You dominate, or get dominated. Until then, it's a race to the first nukes. Against AIs, it's relaxingly easy. Get whatever kind of victory you want, the AI is terrible at managing its money and production.

Though it was funny, its not at all how the actual game works. Only if you have no clue why things happen the way they do in this game then yes this movie is accurate, but the fault is yours and not the game. Played hundreds of hours, done every single difficulty and every single win possible ten times over ... and never lost a match, heck, never lost a city (not counting fresh captured cities that get recaptured next turn). To give one example why, your warmongering IS warmongering, you did not bother to build relations first you just went out to annihilate, so yes you are a warmonger. If you just started with the game agreed this will look confusing, but its easy to avoid ... you need good relations with others, make them hate the one you want to destroy and they will stay your best friends. Enemy of my enemy is my friend and all that, to make it more simple, 3 green goes over 1 red and 3 green is EASY to get.

+Ilya Kuryakin Even if every civ hates the one civ you are destroying you still get massive warmonger penalties which inevitably leads to one of your friendly civs suddenly denouncing you out of nowhere, which then leads to every other civ in the game chain denouncing you because they liked that one civ that denounced you even more then you somehow.

LordRobaZe No its not, like i said if you get a chain denouncing, its your own fault. I know lol. Yes eventually you will get denounced, but if domination is your goal you can easily wipe out half the map and have friends when theres only 2 or 3 left. But maybe i just play domination wrong, i play this game to build, not go berserk on everything that moves, so conquering is not on my to do list, which in turn always give me good and easy relations with the rest. /shrug i do know for a fact because ive been there, conquered entire world and the last civ remaining was friendly until it was last one left (out of 8)

LordRobaZe you just have to be smart, not capping cities when he has several left, you just bash his army and wait for him to ask for peace. You dont ask resources, you ask cities which eventually he/she WILL give, no penalty. Meanwhile build good relations with the rest, war over, they denounce you, everyone you made friends with while at war with that one will denounce him for denouncing a friend, in short carte blanch to destroy him. Its as easy as that.
