Great video but in context of harbor districts it's mandatory to mention the golden triangle with commercial hub and city center. Mentioning that the harbor provides +2 gold to adjacent commercial hubs is something you cannot ignore. If said hub is then also located on a river, that's even more of a snowball money scam :D Would also be cool to actually have a savegame open in which you have all these things, such as buildings to put citizens in while explaining, or an actual harbor and actual sea (luxury) resources. Usually a big fan of the saxy daddy teachings but this one was a bit lackluster. Still a thumbs up, tho :)

Then you drop Reyna in there with her bonus to harbors and commercial districts and rake in the gold!
@jaydenliberty95365 жыл бұрын
I feel like it’s good to have maybe 2 cities dedicated to gold production by the time the World congress comes around, specifically ones on the coast that can take advantage of the coastal gold. You would have to center trade routes as starting in those cities though, in order to make up for the other yields. It’s probably untenable to have a majority of your cities operating on the Golden Triangle, especially the ones on the border to other Civs, getting war declared and the gold cities pillaged would seriously handicap your ability to fight back
@pepijnwarmerdam8784 Жыл бұрын
When placing harbours next to resources for the adjecency bonus keep in mind if you want to build the Collossus or Great Lighthouse wonders, they need to be placed in the water next to the harbour. And more or less the same goes for The Mausoleum at Hallicarnassus wonder, it needs to be placed on a landtile next to a harbour, a very good wonder to build in a city with a lot of coastal tiles. There's also a thing to be said for using harbours as a basis for your economy, unlike commercial hubs harbours can't be targeted by a spy making your economy safer from theft.

For a variety of reasons, I just couldn't get in to Civ6 when I first bought it at the end of 2016. I put less than 20 hours in to it. However, since I found your channel a week or so ago, I've watched all of your "Civilization VI Tips" videos and it's made me want to give Civ6 another chance. Also, Gathering Storm looks to bring some interesting new game play (and the return of pollution and climate change). However, it'll have to wait until I get bored of Stellaris again which may be a few months! Thanks for all the time you put in to your videos.

I have trouble getting into civ6 too, as much as I keep trying. It's still the graphical style that just throws me. civ5 everything looked denser, more mysterious and wonderous... In civ6 everything's just too cartoonish. Just never clicks. :( Also maybe the over reliance on more modern leaders. It always feels icky when you're building an ancient civilization, haven't even discovered writing yet, and the first person you encounter is that american dude all "Oh you killed barbarians, bully for you!" But that's always been a bit of an problem, just seems more common in this one.

@@SanguinaryBlade to be fair the american civilisation will always have that problem of being to modern since they became there nation in the 1770s. gathering storm is bringing back the world congress as well for this game. i love the world congress and renaming it in civ 5. plus the mods which give it more options.

I believe the only wonders that must be adjacent to a harbor are the Sydney Opera house, the Great Lighthouse, Colossus, the Statue of Liberty, and the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus. The Sydney Opera House gives extra great works of music slots, culture, and great musician points and is ideal for culture victory. The Great Lighthouse gives naval units extra movement, gold, and great admiral points and is ideal for naval domination games. Colossus gives an extra trade route and trader, gold, and great admiral points and isn't geared for any particular victory. The Statue of Liberty gives diplomatic victory points, as well as full loyalty to nearby cities. The Mausoleum gives science, faith and culture to all coast tiles for the city it's built in and gives great engineers 1 extra charge, and is not geared for any particular victory.

In addition to the policy card, if you get Reyna (governor) with the Harbormaster promotion the adjacency bonus is doubled yet again, making shipyards incredibly broken. It's possible to get 20+ production in a city from the shipyard.

You should have mentioned my favourite late game combo - reyna with the double adjacency promotion and double adjacency card with shipyard. You can get at least 12 production from obe building, and tbis is a minimum. It can get above 20, and without any civ abilities - just a triangle with a commercial hub and one or twi sea resources.

I really like to befriend Auckland if I have promising coastal citiy with many water tiles (it helps that AI usually ignores it), then have promoted Liang and fill all coastal tiles that doesn't have resource on it with fisheries (which at this point those tiles becomes as good as farms (or better if feudalism didn't got researched yet), assuming Lighthouse has been built), I don't remember if there is a boost to coast yields through technology (if not, maybe it will be in Gathering Storm), but it would've helped. Anyway, city like that is great for building wonders like Sydney Opera House, Statue of Liberty, Venetian Arsenal and maybe Colossus, if AI didn't rushed him. Btw. I wonder if are you planning to do video like that about alliances? Are they worth it, especially on harder difficulties, when AI is probably getting way more from those than you? Or maybe a video about diplomacy with AI, like f.e. if it's better to promise AI about not spying, moving troops or not settling nearby (or if there is a reason to request that from them, except that one casus belli)?

Hey Saxy Gamer, your videos really helped me play better, thanks! Any chance you might update some of them to cover the changes with Gathering Storm? The need to power buildings and generate power (and CO2) really changes the strategy for districts, so I'd very much like your view on that.

you can actually have the harbor adjacent to 2 city centers; For whatever reason, the rule about cities not being allowed to settle within 3 tiles of another city center is ignored if there are cliffs between the two tiles where city centers would be. Therefore if there was a tile with cliffs where one city is settled, one coast tile, then another land tile directly across, a city center could be placed on either end of the single coast tile where a harbor could be placed

99% of the time (the other 1% being when I feel I need a industrial boost- plus you basically need one city with industrial - harbor for the venetian... and I LOVE my two forr 1 battleships!) I start with a harbor/ commercial district and I try to settle on a river for the commercial adjacency. This is with basically all civs- no civ does NOT need gold xD.... oh other than the first settle, my first settle can be inland (depending where I spawn) and typically (99.99%) starts with a quick holy site. I never NOT want a religion, religion and gold game just goes SO well in every civ game I'd played so far lol. I might settle inland for a wonder... but I mostly let other civs/ city states have em. I'll conquer them anyway.
