It's interesting, because the soundtrack of this game shows how much brazilian music owns to African heritage. We speak portuguese, but a great deal of our music here is credited to the africans who were brought here as slaves. In the game, Kongo's and Brazil's are two of the more joyful and danceable themes, and Kongo is the Kingdom (now Angola) from where most of the slaves where brought (Mvemba a Nzinga is Afonso I of Kongo, and he corresponded with João III, the guy in the video).

Portugal (Fado Menor) 0:00 - Ancient Era (Guitarra Portuguesa) 1:28 - Medieval Era 5:53 - Industrial Era 10:41 - Atomic Era About this Piece: Fado (meaning "Fate" or "Destiny") is a musical genre originating from Lisbon, Portugal around the 1820s. Though much is unknown about its origins, Fado is traditionally known for its sad lyrics and melancholic melodies. Songs in the style of Fado are about topics ranging from life on the sea to the poor, and people's resignation to their own fates. This sentiment is most often described by the Portuguese word "saudade" (also seen in Brazil's Civ 5 theme "Chega de Saudade"), and this musical genre and its topics have spread to most of what was once the Portuguese Empire. Brazilian modinha, Cape Verde's morna and Indonesian kroncong all carry some influence from either tunes or lyrics from Fado, though most have now developed their own traditions.

I am a Brazilian and absolutely love this piece. I connect with Fado, as we also have some similar music, albeit on our own style. I wish we were more united. The United Kingdom of Brazil and Portugal would be a dream. We were great before, we were an world wide emprie. That is prideful. What I love more about this version is that it reminds me of a heartbeat. Maybe one day our hearts will beat as one again, if not formally but in respect and mutual assistance.

Portugal was made an absolute Bitch in the Berlin conference. All other European powers got massive swates of land for literally no reason, while Portugal, who had been claiming the place for hundreds of years, didn't get anything it didn't already have.

All other countries except Britain supported the Portuguese Pink Map. But the Brits were specially against because they wished to connect their Egypt colony to South Africa. Pretty much what the Portuguese also wanted: to connect Angola to Mozambique
