your understanding of Russia's status sounds wrong...Russia much more powerful today and the war had to do with Nato expansion...I 'm not trying to defend Russia, just how I understand it...from other analyst.

Eric pasha, your analysis of Turkiye (not Turkey) is not deep enough. You forget Turkiye took in 3.5 million Syrians back in 2012, 12 years later what do you reckon they number today? Hold on to your lahmajun, at least 7-8 million and this is just registered refugee status, not including undocumented and those who became citizens either by birth, by ancestry or marriage. They are not content with 1-2 kids, I tell you. That makes Turkified Syrians nearly half of Syrians electorate many with dual Turkish citizenship. Should give you an idea about what the future of Syria will look like.
