@dude7146 I wouldn't recommend his boots. The usmc rat boots will kill your feet with prolonged use. Wore them through boot camp and infantry school and had some pretty extended nerve damage. Took 2 years to get feeling back in my feet.

Yeah man. Not all knives have the same purpose. You should have a different test for those knives. I'd say most spiderco knives won't survive the tip test. But to be fair spiderco will actually tell you not to use the knife for things like that. So shouldn't really do that test.

The elementum fixed blade is a much better option from Civivi. If you’re in the market for a quality blade that’s budget friendly and small enough to be tucked under your shirt or thrown in a go bag, the elementum is the way to go. The tang on the tamashi isn’t as full as most would suggest by the definition of full-tang. It shrinks towards the end pretty dramatically. Where as the elementum maintains it for the most part. I’ve seen some people measure the thickness of the elementums tang and it doesn’t necessarily stay true the whole way down, but others do. So that’s open to interpretation, again, budget blade. So don’t expect the highest of quality control, after all, they are made in china.

The problem with the self-defence tag is that no Canadian can carry it. Here a knife is a tool. If you pull it for self-defence or carry it for self-defence it then becomes illegal to use and or carry.

I've carried a civivi praxis mini for about a year now and it's a really good edc! The mini praxis is small enough to barely feel it in your pocket but still a great size for opening and disassembling cardboard boxes and such. Haven't tried any of their other blades but the mini praxis is a great recommendation for anyone wanting a smaller sized knife that's still very good.

That tip test was eye opening. I have a Civivi Elementum Fixed blade which is very similar. After watching this video, I will be careful with the tip. I made desert ironwood handle scales and added a leather belt hanger to that great sheath in place of that bulky belt hanger it came with. For $80 it's a great edc knife, IMO. Thanks for this video!!!

Bob Terzuola designed that knife. He favors the slender blade with a good point. I've got one of his CQB2 designs from Camillus from the late 90s, early 00s. It's really good for an EDC blade.

I had a we knife back when they were all number models with d2 blades, before civivi was a thing. They stepped their game up soooooo much. The difference between that knife (literally gave it away to my uncle), and the current offerings are night and day. The banter series is basically perfect for edc and priced very fairly.

U can’t have a knife that hold an edge like carbon steel or similar and then bend it same as u can’t have a knife that u can bend the tip and then think it won’t ding or dull up faster than the hardened steel knife… u gotta pick one
@theragingbee4650

Thats not entirety true, the design of the knife can lend to a stronger tip. he has showed many knifes that stay razor sharp and keep their tip and in some cases the tip doesnt even bend.
