Its crazy… Because if you’re commenting saying this isnt musical, then you obviously dont play music let alone drums… Every this man does is rudimental af. If you dont understand basic drum techniques and rudiments you literally would not be able to understand anything any drummer is doing…. Anyway CJ one of the GOATS man Im glad he still playing man

I have noticed something.. CJ Thompson ,Stixx Taylor, Chris Kee and Chris Gray...have some similar licks.. They have this crossover lick with snare to hihat and tom 2 to tom 3.. For me they are best in drum world now for their all round but CJ has something about that makes me choose as my number 1.. they reason is how he use triggers and pads in playing. .. 14 triggers. ..what!!!!! I know they grew up together

Thus the reason I enjoyed Gabe Bennett playing with JP kee also. He has his own style and allowed the other musicians room to breathe.

He may not remember me because he meet people everyday but I just wanted to give CJ his flowers man. His mom and dad are both legends and grammy award winners so him being a great musician was in his blood lol. S/O CJ bruh keep up the great work! S/O my dog Chris Kee too (John p kee son) him and CJ use to play the drums at the same time on tour with John p kee lol those were the good days bruh fa sho!

HARD HITTER! Mr. C.J. Thompson IS! The only other young cat out there that executes the linear licks like him is the brother Shariq Tucker from New York & of course cats like Thomas Pridgen, Tony Royster Jr., Larnell Lewis (Snarky Puppy), Chris Coleman & Calvin Rodgers all play with that type of precision as well. I would like to hear Mr. Thompson on more melodic stuff to see how he operates within more of a musical context where he would have to phrase his chops more musically, but, OUTSTANDING drumming. 🌟🌟🌟

@jahleeleli32802 ай бұрын
@@socialintrovert4910 YOUR opinion!!! I don't rank drummers like you all do in today's musical society! I look for musicianship & phrasing from drummers, not just chops!! C.J., as gifted as he is, might have trouble playing simple grooves on a gig say like Frankie Beverly & Maze or Sade because of the melodic arrangements they have. He would kill it with today's digital production artists like Usher or Chris Brown in which digital producers provide artists tracks as maps for drummers, but with o'l skool Soul/R&B artists like Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind & Fire, Frankie Beverly & Maze, Chaka Khan, Sade, etc., etc., this gifted young brother may struggle to keep the feel & groove of that style of our music. I was told that he does play with Charlie Wilson of The Gap Band & I'd like to hear him play Uncle Charlie's arrangements.
