That brought back wonderful memories. I'm lucky enough to have done that route twice and love the section where the paths merge. "Toe cruncher" is the bet description for most of the drop back to Llanberis. Great video.

We did that walk back in the Eighties and when we got to the summit you could not see your hand in front of your face due to the mist. We had to grope our way to the pinnacle and it was a total waste of time trying to get a picture. When we got about halfway back down we left the path and pitched our two man tent and cooked something to eat and a hot drink, a cigarette and watched nightfall. It it so dark on the mountain and way off in the distance you could make out the odd light from farm houses. Such a peaceful night's sleep, then a gentle trek down to the car. A great experience.

Well done, even though I've done every path including Crib Goch many times I still love the Llanberis path, the exact route you took is a yearly race called the Snowdon International Mountain Race which I've done half a dozen times and it's a lot of fun, really fun just to watch too as the elite runners can get up and down in just over an hour, so seeing them fly down the mountain is incredible! My uncle use to drive the train so I've been on that a few times too, it's also a great experience, I always found the rack and pinion track fascinating.
@cjexplores Жыл бұрын
Thanks Mark! We’d love to see the race up there, I hope there aren’t too many nasty tumbles 🙏🏼 we were quite lucky with the weather I feel, having sunshine on the summit and being able to see all around us!

@@cjexplores Unfortunately the first aid tent at the bottom gets very busy on race day! I just noticed where you stop by the railway bridge you put the name of the wrong valley on the screen, you were looking down the Llanberis Pass which leads up to Pen y Pass where the Pyg and Miners tracks start.

Great views and a long walk. Thank you for climbing and showing so I don't have to do it 🤣🤣 1000 m of total ascent straight up in one day is a bit more than I would enjoy (have done more than 1000 m but on a more rollercoasty path) 🥵😄

🤣 awww thanks Torunn! It was pretty full on, straight up and some sections were very steep!

This path is described as the busiest and least interesting, but I definitely wouldn't say that it's not interesting!! I went in the afternoon on a September weekday and we didn't see anyone else ascending at the same time as us, only people coming down. As we approached the summit and the path converged with other paths we encountered others ascending but it wasn't too busy. It was an amazing day out and gave me a massive confidence boost since I didn't know if I was really fit enough to get to the top.👍👍

@Nordikgoth77 Жыл бұрын
@@cjexplores I guess yes ok ! But even with 1085meters... its not high... In France Even in the Vosges Mountains in the North Eastern part, it have lot of forest even until some summits (the Highest summit is above almost 1500m) and at the same time, the climate is very very cold ! Also its very strange because on the summit of the Snowdon ok, yes its usual but even at the down valley... its have no trees ! Why ? Lot of grass ok but its very sad to see that it have no trees everywhere... its my opinion.
@markjones127 Жыл бұрын
@@Nordikgoth77 A mountain is a mountain and everything over 2000 feet is a mountain, each mountain has it's treeline and Snowdonia has plenty of forest lower down, it's actually famous for its temperate rainforests which are incredibly beautiful, there are vast forests throughout Snowdonia including at the foot of Snowdon, on a bigger mountain the treeline is higher, so you get forests in other mountain ranges at several thousand feet, but that doesn't mean you can get trees on the top few thousand feet of lower mountains, there's nothing sad about it, all you've seen is footage of one path up one mountain, go and watch a video of the Gwydir Forest a few miles down the valley, which is a HUGE forest.
