Hi guys a few quick crib notes below: 3:42 - no form or phenomenon (ego, personality, self, seperate person, universal self) 4:10 - Be detached(react calmly to highly emotional circumstances) when practicing compassion and charity without regard to appearances, without regard to form, sound, smell, taste, touch, or any quality of any kind. 6:08 - All forms are illusive and unreal. 7:54 - Discard all arbritrary notions of the existence of a personal self, of other people, or a universal self. But also discard any notions of the NON EXISTENCE of a personal self, other people or universal self. 8:30 - Discard not only all conceptions of your own selfhood, other selves, or universal self, but ALSO discard all notions of the non existence of such concepts. 9:03 - All of the above statements are like a Raft used to cross a river. Once the river is crossed (you realize you are in the state of enlightenment), you don't need to think about any of these ideas or concepts anymore. 9:37 - No indipendently existing object of mind called the highest most fulfilled enlightened mind. Because there are no seperate indipendent things. Neither is nor is it not. 10:34 - Enlightenment is realised through an internally intuitive process. (like laughing at a joke) 12:16 - A true disciple who enters the stream of enlightenment doesn't see himself as a seperate person entering any stream. He doesn't even consider the concept at all. He doesn't differentiate himself from others and has no regard for name shape sound odour taste touch or any quality can truly be called a disciple who's entered the stream. 12:55 - No passing away or coming into existence. There is no one returning and no one not returning. 14:31 15:18 - A paradise cannot be created nor can it not be uncreated ?? Develop a mind that is in no way dependent upon sites sounds smells tastes sensory sensations or any mental conceptions. Develop a mind that does not rely on anything. 22:44 - Buddhas discard all arbritary conceptions of form and phenomenon, transcended all perceptions, and penetrated the illusion of all forms. 24:34 - Disciples should leave behind all distinctions of phenomenon, and not allow the mind to be evoked by the senses, sound, odors, flavours, sensory touch or any other qualities. Stay indipendent of any thought that arises in your mind. 30:38 - Help lead all beings to the shore of awakening but after they have been liberated, know that in truth not a single being has been liberated. Because if a disciple cherishes the idea of a self, a person, a living being or a universal self, then that person is not an authentic disciple. Why? Because there is NO independently existing object of mind called the highest most fulfilled awakened mind. **33:15 - A true disciple knows that there is no such thing as a self, a person, a living being or universal self. All things are devoid of selfhood or individuality. 38:40 - When you attain perfect Enlightenment you will feel as if nothing has been acquired. You will come to the realization that you were always in that state. It is neither a high state or a low state. It's the state that you're in right now yet you don't have the wisdom yet to realize that you are already in it and were always in it. 39:45 - Be ethical and kind knowing there is no distinction between yourself and the selfhood of others. Practice kindness and charity without attachment. 48:53 - Your existence is very much like your existence in a dream. Your dream self is not the real you. It is a creation of your mind, much like all the objects and the people in that dream.

All this means to me that...you listen to all but, at the same time you are listening, you are not listening, or are not paying attention to. This is because the mind knows what it needs now and what it will need later on the subconscious level. Therefore it will take what it needs, on the same subconscious level, and discard the rest. This is the same as the Christian belief of everything being predestined. I think this predestination means that if everything has a cause and effect, and this cause and effect are universal laws, then, with so many laws in motion at one time, those things that came before us are the reason these things happening now are happening, and why those things to come will happen because...they must. Christianity, Buddhism, the kybalion...tell use that what we see are the result of what we cannot see because we have closed our eyes to them. We cannot feel these things because we chose to feel instead the pleasures of the flesh.
@WisdomOfInsecurity5 жыл бұрын
@@myshadowkungfu no no no no pls, it's not predestined, the mind is not something, the subconscious doesn't discard anything. You still dwell in concepts. Universal laws are a concept, in reality there is no you, there is no mind, there is no subconscious, but yet they are. But which quality do they have? They are a phenomenon themself, the stream of consciousness is not something separate from the whole panorama of experience, but don't take them for real structures of how reality is intrinsically really organized. You mind is organized that way, reality is what there it is and your mind is also what there is.

Most modern spirituals must come to this video before the time of the death of the ego. You listen to someone say so many beautiful words and talk about bliss yet they still speak of an eternal self (a self lathered in voice, memories, ego bad and good). I sit quietly and i feel sad for the ones that waste their life not digging just an inch "deeper" and letting go of the final ego personality as its master, the "enlightened" self. Once you cross the river the raft is no longer of benefit, you must drag the raft on land rather than float on water.

Last night, once again, it was in the morning at 5 a.m., once again I listened to a “diamond sura” principle book of #Buddhism that I've been studying for 30 years. and I repeated it aloud: -I don't understand it! I don't understand, I don't understand, I don't understand, I don't understand anything. After the third time I listened to this #audiobook , after 30 years, studying this #book, I thought and reflected on it my way! I recorded a video for 3 minutes, as I understand the “#Diamond #Sutra “ Yes! I, Andrey #Bogoslovsky, I understand the #diamondsutra what this monk says, is #real #true, and #absolute #truth . As in the words of Buddha -“If I/anyone, someone understand one/one paragraph from his book, -“diamond sura”, if I explain this paragraph to one person, yes, one person, one paragraph! That means that I'm eternal! Immortal ! that I will no longer be reborn reincarnated No more stinky Earth or any other stinky location! No more! I will sit at one table with God after I die! I am #bogoslowsky ♾️🧬❤️🤴 .

A lot of time, if you buy the diamond Sutra a paperback in a bookstore or online, you also get along with the diamond Sutra a second suture called the "Sutra of Hui Neng.". Hui Neng was the sixth patriarch of China. Bodhidarma the 1st. Queen dang was illiterate and very poor taking care of his mother. He was eventually discovered by two monks reciting the diamond Sutra near his house. The two monks knew that he knew the secret of the diamond Sutra or the meaning of the diamond Sutra. The monastery paid for the care of his mother who was sick. He named was welcomed into the monastery. After a while the fifth patriarch of China new that he named was the one who knew and decided to make him the six Patriark of China. It was in the Third Watch of the night when the fifth patriarch gave hui neng thr lineage of the 6th patriarch. Because he was in danger from the other monks, he left at midnight or maybe 3 in the night I don't know and what not seen for a long time I think about 1 year later he was seen teaching and practicing and being the six patriarch in China. I will try to get the suture of weed name on KZbin and post it here if I can. Sorry processor

Just a suggestion to Chris Johnys. If the reading of the Sutra can be slower and given longer pauses between chapters, so that listeners can have just a bit more time to ponder in between statements and chapters, it would make the recording ideal. There are also sections of the Sutra where the reading was too rushed or moved on too quickly, giving the impressions that the messages just read weren't by themselves worth pondering and that the listeners should just focus on the new messages that are coming up.

How do you view the Tathagata? Vimalakirti Sutra Chapter 12 - Vision of the Universe Abhirati and the Tathagata Aksobhya Thereupon, the Buddha said to the Licchavi Vimalakirti, "Noble son, when you would see the Tathagata, how do you view him?" Thus addressed, the Licchavi Vimalakirti said to the Buddha, "Lord, when I would see the Tathagata, I view him by not seeing any Tathagata. Why? I see him as not born from the past, not passing on to the future, and not abiding in the present time. Why? He is the essence which is the reality of matter, but he is not matter. He is the essence which is the reality of sensation, but he is not sensation. He is the essence which is the reality of intellect, but he is not intellect. He is the essence which is the reality of motivation, yet he is not motivation. He is the essence which is the reality of consciousness, yet he is not consciousness. Like the element of space, he does not abide in any of the four elements. Transcending the scope of eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind, he is not produced in the six sense-media. He is not involved in the three worlds, is free of the three defilements, is associated with the triple liberation, is endowed with the three knowledges, and has truly attained the unattainable. "The Tathagata has reached the extreme of detachment in regard to all things, yet he is not a reality-limit. He abides in ultimate reality, yet there is no relationship between it and him. He is not produced from causes, nor does he depend on conditions. He is not without any characteristic, nor has he any characteristic. He has no single nature nor any diversity of natures. He is not a conception, not a mental construction, nor is he a nonconception. He is neither the other shore, nor this shore, nor that between. He is neither here, nor there, nor anywhere else. He is neither this nor that. He cannot be discovered by consciousness, nor is he inherent in consciousness. He is neither darkness nor light. He is neither name nor sign. He is neither weak nor strong. He lives in no country or direction. He is neither good nor evil. He is neither compounded nor uncompounded. He cannot be explained as having any meaning whatsoever. "The Tathagata is neither generosity nor avarice, neither morality nor immorality, neither tolerance nor malice, neither effort nor sloth, neither concentration nor distraction, neither wisdom nor foolishness. He is inexpressible. He is neither truth nor falsehood; neither escape from the world nor failure to escape from the world; neither cause of involvement in the world nor not a cause of involvement in the world; he is the cessation of all theory and all practice. He is neither a field of merit nor not a field of merit; he is neither worthy of offerings nor unworthy of offerings. He is not an object, and cannot be contacted. He is not a whole, nor a conglomeration. He surpasses all calculations. He is utterly unequaled, yet equal to the ultimate reality of things. He is matchless, especially in effort. He surpasses all measure. He does not go, does not stay, does not pass beyond. He is neither seen, heard, distinguished, nor known. He is without any complexity, having attained the equanimity of omniscient gnosis. Equal toward all things, he does not discriminate between them. He is without reproach, without excess, without corruption,without conception, and without intellectualization. He is without activity, without birth, without occurrence, without origin, without production, and without nonproduction. He is without fear and without subconsciousness; without sorrow, without joy, and without strain. No verbal teaching can express him. "Such is the body of the Tathagata and thus should he be seen. Who sees thus, truly sees. Who sees otherwise, sees falsely."

The other text happened to be Heart sutra that we were made to learn by heart and this is one of the text recited as curative of illnesses. I begin to learn what these text are a little now with KZbin recordings by different practitioners and students. There is more to learn.....
This is a great performance of the sutta. The only advice I would have given the performer is to pause more between the call and response. It sounds like it's all one drawn out sentence.

This translation uses "universal self' instead of life. can anyone further expound the meaning of that original word and it's usage in Pali?

In what is understood to be the original Sanskrit version of this sutra, the word translated as "universal self" by Alex Johnson is "pudgalasaṃjñā". You can read more about the term and its philosophical significance here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pudgalavada

Knowing that we are not an independent self. When we give to others who are not selves, we give to ourselves “the collective self”which is no self at all. It is our pure form
