The Diamond Sūtra (Sanskrit: Vajracchedikā Prajñāpāramitā Sūtra) is a Mahāyāna (Buddhist) sūtra from the Prajñāpāramitā sutras or 'Perfection of Wisdom' genre. Translated into a variety of languages over a broad geographic range, the Diamond Sūtra is one of the most influential Mahayana sutras in East Asia, and it is particularly prominent within the Chan (or Zen) tradition, along with the Heart Sutra. The work, which offers meditations on illusion and perception, was originally written in Sanskrit and first translated into Chinese in 402 A.D.
The Diamond Sutra is one of the most historically important texts in the Buddhist faith, in part because a copy of it is the oldest surviving dated printed book in the world (868 A.D.). The Diamond Sutra posits that something is what it is only because of what it is not.
This reading is from the translation from Red Pine (Bill Porter).
The Diamond Sutra contains answers to all questions of delusion and dualism. This is the Buddhist teaching on the perfection of wisdom and cuts through all obstacles on the path of practice.

Dear Samaneri Jayasara. I have listened to your recitations hundreds of times. I listen over and over again. Often I shed tears hearing the words of the ancient masters recited with such compassion. Now I sit everyday. Without words I try to realize: No past, no future, no being. Thanks for bringing me back to the path (that is no path). Thanks.

@ploinyalmoiny3049 5 ай бұрын
@@growingoaks It can’t be ‘figured out’ - it’s to be experienced… ‘Explaining’ is a word, a label, a concept - which is limited - by definition. If you’re ‘explaining’ something, you’re not really explaining ’it’ - as ‘it’ cannot be explained - ‘It’ just Is. I was pointing to the point that by our dear sister reading this in a meditation style, she’s actually explaining ‘It’ - by not explaining it - but by giving the actual experience.

Hi Gigi, all the Buddha's teachings from the original Pali - said to be spoken by him and argued by scholars to be as close as we can get to the original words spoken by him - are in the Theravada playlist. The other Mahayana sutras will be under the Mahayana playlist (in both Zen and Tibetan). I haven't done that many suttas or sutras to date so it is not that hard to navigate as yet, but I intend to do more in the future. When there is an extensive list, then perhaps I will create an entire new playlist for ease of access for the Buddha's words. Hope that helps for now. 🧡

That Seen In The Diamond There is that known to mind Not born of mind, Rather brought to mind, Having been known In a realm apart from space and time. That known in an unbounded paradigm, Which is no paradigm, And from an eternal perspective, Which is no perspective, When brought to mind, Thus limited by space and time, By perspective and paradigm, Casts but a shadow Of the dimensionless thing which is no thing, Of more dimensions than mind can conceive. The enlightened mind illuminates the shadow, Exposing and uncasting as illusory, The diversions and paradoxes lurking within, Revealing the essence of that known in a higher realm. Yet word is contrived by unenlightened mind, Limited by the illusion of duality, Fettered by linear thought, Inapt to define that not thus confined. Hence when that unbound, by word is bound, Resurrected are the diversions and paradoxes Beheld in the shadow. Illusion created by illusion. Confoundingly real to the mind That does not know itself illusory. Thus, that the Bhagavan, the Sugata, The Tathagata, the Arhan, Limited by word, impart his knowing, He tells then untells. He speaks then unspeaks. He declares then undeclares That seen in the shadow. That the impartee put it to mind, Thence discern the essence.

Emptiness is not nothing. Emptiness is neither nothing or something. Emptiness contains everything. There is a fullness in this emptiness. It is the end of all suffering. It is the source of every single thing that one can perceive as a rising of joy. It has gentleness and tenderness. It has bliss. It is all mothers. The truth of beingness. And it's none of those things because to be in it no thought needs to arise. The source of all comfort and peace. But we only name these things because we're not used to being in them and knowing them always. In this I can rest. I can expire smiling.

The paradox of the teaching is fascinating. Do you believe that this is, that we exist in the final 500 years of the dharma ending age? it certainly seems to be a time of paradoxical teachings.

From the Hindu perspective, we are in Kali Yuga, a dark time indeed. When I look around at “the world,” political systems, greed, hatred, delusion, destruction of earth, war etc (none of which is new) it seems we are indeed in the Kali Yuga. I’ve yet to come across anything is the path that does not appear as what we call “paradox.” Blessings ❣️🙏

I heard a yogi say something really smart -- it is the seeking of pleasure that ruins people's lives. Back before al this "entertainment" was everywhere he was speaking and said how children live such healthy lives because they study and play and exercise and help their families . . .and they are happy and sleep well . . .but then when they become adults they start seeking pleasures and entertainments and they become miserable. i grew up without entertainment except for radio and records. Once in a while we went to the beach and once in a while we went to a movie. No one ever woke up in the morning thinking about how they were going to consume entertainment on any given day. Entertainment was for special occasions. Steve Jobs destroyed humanity and we need to take it back. Kill the screens!
