Great playthough as usual, Chris! Man, I just hope these "dad kills family" or "bad dad" themes die out for indie games this 2025. It got old last year already.

I stopped watching this one part way through for that very reason - men being constantly demonized is exhausting. It's also annoying that every male character in successful gaming franchises are being replaced with insufferable one-dimensional girl bosses. Otherwise, for the most part I really enjoy Chris's videos. He's an affable chap with a great voice and disposition. Look forward to seeing his channel grow.

it is just sad that this theme gets used a lot especially when men are seen as abusers or family ahnialators, and seeing the state the dating scene is in is just fucked and disgusting.

@@atomikhearts I wouldn't put too much behind it. It's not a concerted effort or conspiracy, just these things go in waves. Like how every game had a gruff grizzled bald white guy at one point.

While I agree with the sentiment you expressed in general, I do think that trope makes sense in this particular game seeing as how it is very intentionally invoking "The Shining" which is a story about a villainous man/father.

Yes, the "bad dad" trope is getting old because indies are VERY cannibalistic and follow trends, even moreso than AAA, because of the scale and speed they work at. Once someone shows these developers another story (PT brought back the "bad dad" trope BTW, which was really brought up by Amityville Horror in the 70's), they'll all jump on that once, too.

They vary between styles and all bring something great to the table! Chris just keeps getting better and better I swear!

@ Chris is the most immersive lets player I have seen. Mista GG is for comedy. It’s mostly twitch clips but he makes it fun between his talking and the editing of the videos. And Gab is chill and is almost a female version of Chris. I haven’t seen the ones you’ve mentioned but there are a ton of horror let’s players. So there’s that perfect choice for everyone to choose from

@ Manly is great you should check him out, so is Redacted. Manly had a much larger channel than most and Redacted has a much smaller channel but both bring good voice / chill playthroughs. Chris I agree is one of the most if not the most immersive let’s player out there. I can’t get enough of his content!

I think you summed up this game perfectly in your conclusion : the liminal spaces sections and Shining references were fun, the psychological horror element was utterly predictable and has been done a thousand times already, and I think we could have done without it completely. Enough of "bad dad simulators" ^^

Standard story, indeed somewhat directionless. But still a good looking and interesting game with water rising, the beachballs, Glitching through the floor😂. Liked it.

This ended up getting a woman pregnant. It's just a joke I doubt it's based in reality. I hope that helps! I really like the Shining meets BackRooms style of this game and was scarier to me than both properties on their own. That game in the ballroom literally made my hair stand on end with the creepy mannequins that moved and the irregular balloon popping 😱 Was so glad when it was ober cause didnt know how much more I could take , lol. I think you were right the backstory was pretty easily guessed at and not that original but I did like that they tried to give a liminal game some kind of story. That one room where it looked like some kind of mystery was being investigated, like someone was being hunted, seemed like it was part of some other kind of bigger storyline but the rest of the game didnt come close to delivering on that. Still the liminal spaces were real good I thought, both liminal and scary, and the areas ended before getting boring/ repetitious. i liked the balloon and beachball physics and thought in general the game looked really good. Honestly, no matter how the game is, watching you play through them is always a good time as you bring a fun mix or curious exploration, good humor, compassion, and blood thirstiness to every video. Happy 2025 and can’t wait to see what you get up to this year! 💜
