I bought CK3 Royal court yesterday and when starting i was overwelmed, not knowing what to do or start. Looked up some vids but they where all plain basic. But then i got this one. 3H.45M of explanations! I watched the full lenght and i just got king of Ireland. I actually understand what i am doing! I hope you make another one with slight more indept mechanics, like setting up the royal court or how to play UNDER a Liege bc i got stuck on what to do. Keep it up!!

Nice, I'm happy to hear that! I know it's a big video, but I did my best to add timestamps and split it up into logical sections to make it easier to digest. If you want something a bit more in-depth, I made a "Everything I learned" video last year from a world conquest campaign I ran. There are a TON of good nuggets in there, but it's not like this where it goes in the exact order. It's long as well, but I put timestamps on everything so skip around :)

What an awseome informative video! I absolutely LOVE your "Grandma" guides and they are so so helpful! I find myself "knowing" what to do in the beginning, but then I hit a stalemate where I just dont kow what to do any more. The whole granting lands and the succession thing is something I struggle with so that was very helpful to me and I learned a lot. It was also informative to see that you could just throw the AI off by going close and kinda just playing chicken with him hehe.

I have over 2000 hours in ck3 so I already employ 99% of the strategies and maxims present in this video, however, I had no idea you could sort by prowess in the marriage screen. For over 2k hours I have sorted by martial and clicked through the candidates manually to find the ones that happen to also have decent prowess. Even though I cringed at tiny things being forgotten from time to time, the level of care and thought put into this video make it very very worth the runtime. Well done

@@swefress Its still considered old anywhere not poisoned by western femizism that wants to destroy the western culture as a whole. Any culture that is not so developed and needs to grow its populace sees that younger women are more fertile (each year women loose like 100.000 eggs or something like that) and above 30 the risks of illness starts to rise in babies (as women health is crucial for baby health.) it skyrockets past 40 though so yea (still if you are focused on making a proper family you need time so starting at 30 just rises the risk of your children being autistic or having other problems.). I played another save and took all of Ireland in about a decade. The succession went pretty well, except the vassal I had died around the same time and those kids hated my kids who took over. Currently still have that save and despite their hatred of me they're staying under my control. I'm only half way thru this vid as I comment and I've learned so much more.

Awesome video. I know you're trying to fit as much info into a short length video, which I commend you, but it's too fast, which is fine. Since you're going fast, we can't keep up with what you're saying & doing (clicking). So a suggestion would be to use a larger mouse pointer size, and with flourescent color. So we know where the mouse pointer is as you're talking. About 60% of the time, I hear you talking, & then a screen pop up. I have no idea what you did or how you did to get the screen to pop up. But overall, a great video. I know it took many hours & days for editing. Edit -- I didn't have Vikings in my play thru. I was playing way down southeast, around India / Madagascar area. Guess its too far for Vikings to make it down there.

I watched this video as a follow up to the other grandma video after your recommendation, and actually everything ran extremely smoothly! I conquered all of Ireland, got tons of money, absolute control over counties, a ton of prestige… and then my ruler died at 44 years old, of gout. Playing as his heir, I was stumped, because his focus was on intrigue and I had no clue what to do. I married a lady with high stewardship to at least maintain my kingdom… and then I couldn’t grow it any further because of a massive shortage of prestige. Spent close to 15 years just raiding to get money and prestige, held a grand tournament, got a ton of prestige that ran out immediately, back to square one, no prestige, no way to expand my territory. Should I just keep raiding or what? It makes no sense :/ I would highly appreciate a guide on what to do after your ruler dies and your heir takes over! As well as possibly a video explaining the difference in gameplay with different lifestyles. Until then, what can I do to get unstuck from being unable to expand due to low prestige (and stays negative no matter what)?
@Strat-Guides
@Strat-Guides 4 ай бұрын
If you're going through that much prestige, it sounds like your army is too big to maintain. I prefer to prioritize archers for this reason - they don't cost nearly as much as the armored footmen. Try disbanding some of the more expensive units you have and change them out for archers and light infantry?
@applelayla4532

@@Strat-GuidesI’ve got a thousand armored footmen, 2 sets of 500 each, the rest is bowmen. I burn through prestige like crazy because of “Unraised Men-at-arms”. By the time I’ve managed to raise my prestige gain again, I’m 40 years old, and it resets next time my heir takes over :/ Is there a way to get to feudalism more quickly? Since I heard that Men at arms cost money to upkeep once you make the switch.

Possibly - it also depends on a few other things like modifiers to health. You can extend your ruler's life by going down the learning tree (the one on the left that gives health modifiers) or getting a rat catching cat (RNG on getting it or not), etc. 82 is good for the early game!

In your first run when your brother died you said you forgot to marry him. How would you do this marriage? Matrilineal? What skills would you look for?
@Strat-Guides
@Strat-Guides 3 ай бұрын
For the brother just do a regular marriage - Matrilineal is for when your female courtiers and family members are married off so you can pull capable males into your court. As for skills, females will mostly use intrigue (spymaster) or learning (court physician) so either of those would be good if you don't already have the positions filled. Otherwise, you literally just want a young female with any stats - the important thing with females is they can pull capable males into your court who can then fill any position (including champions with high prowess).

When you look at the person you're declaring war against, you have to look at the land they PERSONALLY own, the land they directly control. Personally controlling land is not the same as "Realm within your kingdom" which basically means you own the highest title, but someone else owns the actual land. If you declare on someone, you can only get the land they directly own, but anyone else will become a vassal of yours. If you declare war for a dutchy that the rulers doesn't own anything in, you'll get 100% vassals. If they own all the land within a dutchy, then your dutchy war will give you direct ownership of all those lands. Hopefully that helps clear it up!

With the new legitimacy mechanic, it really hits you hard if you marry a commoner woman. Are the stats still worth that hit or should we just find the best spouse from a noble house?

You picked the later start date - make sure you change the start date to 867 (very beginning of the guide). That will make your starting government Tribal, which means you can attack anyone without having to fabricate a claim first.

You mention wanting to install a "powerful" vassal so he will be safe from his own vassals, but what does this mean? High prowess? Or high "leadership" stats, or whatever you call those. I notice you chose your Steward rather than a powerful knight, so I figure the latter, but just wanted to make sure.

Wait so how come do you have a casus belli against literally every single county and Dutchy and everyone, but I have to wait 9 months for my bishop to forge one? Like what am I doing wrong why can you declare war left and right while I have to wait forever between every single declaration I’m confused
@Strat-Guides
@Strat-Guides 7 ай бұрын
It's because you're picking the later start date, which forces you into a Feudal government. At the start of the video I mentioned talking the earlier start date of 867 which let's you play as a tribal government who don't need CB to declare war on everyone. It's really strong in the early game and makes learning the game so much easier!

Im very noob at the game and I have a question. Why choosing a ruler that already exists? What is the the problem of creating one by zero and choosing the traits you want? (Sorry if the english is bad, its not my 1st language)
@Strat-Guides

In the previous beginner's guide, I did a custom ruler. I figured for this one, I would make it a little more challenging and do the generic rulers!

Maybe I'm having trouble because I'm not a grandmother. Also, wouldn't having a massive court full of people who resent you give hostile schemes free agents?
@Strat-Guides
@Strat-Guides 6 ай бұрын
What are you having trouble with? I can try to help. Yeah that can potentially be an issue - but if you have a good spymaster and you keep your close courtiers and wife on good terms then it will be much harder for any scheme to go through. You'll usually run into issues when your wife hates you or the court physician.

I do plan on making a video like this for each of the Paradox games! I've got close to 5k hours into EU4 so that should be an easy one. I've got a couple hundred into HOI4 so I need more time with that and Stellaris 0 hours - need more time :)

@Strat-Guides

So the truce means you attacked them, but they can still raid you. You can try to catch them while they are raising (raise army in the red flag, send them into the raiders and profit). Otherwise you just have to wait until the truce is over and then attack them again.

It's because we're starting as a Tribal Government, which gets a CB against anyone in diplomatic range. That's why I recommend starting as Tribal when you're first learning the game - it simplifies things a lot!
