Malaysia needs to implement the UK grading system. Without grading, an amateur tournament might consist of retired state or district player. Not fun at all.

That sounds like an amazing series ! I subscribed. I like that you will track how many intense sets you can play at your desired speed. That will show you, if your training is working or needs adjustment like training less to improve recovery. Not an easy thing for badminton players, since we can't just track strength or stamina numbers like people going to the gym.
@CKYew
@CKYew Жыл бұрын
Absolutely! Everyone have different baselines for strength and speed numbers but we all have to play the same number of sets in each match! So might as well track that 😂

Best of luck! That training template is very useful, thank you. I too had patellar tendinitis in november and only recently am able to play at 100% again. Mind you, i kept playing the whole time, which isnt recommended i guess :D And with that injury sorted, i have torn some muscle fibre in my left calf - just perfect! But with all that said, im now focussing much more on warming up, stretching and strengthening my body. Being above 30 also means that you have to take care of yourself apparently xD

Very excited to see this video and to follow the series, as someone who also started too late and has a poor BE grade 😄 Curious what your opinion is on the matter, but what bothers me the most is the lack of available Tier 4 tournaments in a given area, like Yorkshire. Very surprise that England have such type of grading system. Do you need to sign up and have them grade you? Or you'll be automatically graded based on the official tournament which you participate in? Even in Malaysia where badminton is well loved doesn't have such system. Like you said only pro or non-pro. And tournaments usually organized by private clubs only have a clause that prevent current & ex state/national players to join, other than that it's open for all. Imagine joining a tournament and on the first round you'll be facing a grade A player, it's no fun at all 🥲
@CKYew
@CKYew Жыл бұрын
The system is generally pretty good. You'll have to sign up to a Compete membership to play officially sanctioned tournaments which will get you national ranking points and grades. Grading is normally pretty straightforward and there's a starting grade for everyone depending on your age group when you join tournaments. On rare occasions where players have the wrong starting grade (ie: international students who are incredible players), they should settle onto a correct grade after a while competing on the national circuit. From my experience, anyone who is C grade and above in England is probably comparable to a pretty strong state player in Malaysia.
