The fact that a quarter million pounds of luxury gets up to 24 knots is pretty amazing! It can get .5 mpg for almost 2000 miles at displacement speed.

only space for two crew is a minimum on a 30m yacht missing a dayhead at the cockpit...or around the salon.... and rather pricy....but it is nice to see a different touch...like the Extra Yachts 96 triplex more from Spain

Captain Steve, about what length do you consider goes from owner/operator to a crewed yacht?

Around 65 to 70 feet usually. For an experienced owner.

Age, experience and money all come into the calculation. I sail a 52 foot saiboat and have done for many years including an Atlanic crossing. OK, a different kind of vessel but at 72 I now won't sail without a fit experienced crew member with me. In an emergency such as a person overboard, I could not move as fast or have the strength that I once had. If you can afford it, have a crew, if you can't buy a boat the you can handle alone.
