Great Clip !! She makes great sense, and as usual, John, you are the perfect host and intellectual contributor. And being in the U.S., I so appreciate the chance to hear perspectives from Australia, much of which mirror our classical liberal and Conservative principles up here. Between your podcast and other outlets I've developed a really solid bond with you all that I value greatly.

Very pertinent interview at a time when a coercive mindset has been permitted to dominate the scene and shout down all dissenting voices.

"At a time"? Were you on ice for the last decade?

Lovely lady with a fine-tuned moral compass. Imo, a pluralistic society can only be sustained once the fundamental freedoms you discussed have been accepted by ALL of a society.

"Old Left-right definition" Please look up the Pournelle Chart, from the late Dr. Jerry Pournelle's 1963 thesis. It is on Wikipedia by itself with a good explanation. 58 years ago Dr Pournelle gave definition and orientation to a lot of these terms that we're having difficulties with today. The left/right thing was only applicable to a post-Napoleon French Parliament, hardly ever anywhere else, since.

So great to see the left-right political spectrum being debated about as it seems to be on a deeper philosophical level a reason for so much divide!

To respect is more important than to tolerate, respect the person and their views but to tolerate them implies that you are just putting up with them?

Sounds like Claire spends time on Twitter given her description of experience on political discourse. This centrist liberalism Australians aspire to is failing us. Liberalism has been usurped by radical liberalism. Centrists tolerate it, they play a game of gentleman’s cricket with it, of which the radicals win every game and the centrists applaud as the last wicket falls. The saying now is conservatives are only 3 years behind progressives l, which I think is true. Very disappointing because I like liberalism, but ultimately it’s like heroin to society. The unintended consequences bite at a later stage. I believe we are beginning to see them appear.

I dont think it's human nature at all what she describes. It's more just a cultural artefact. A program. A piece of software. It's not a hardware or genetic issue. It's purely psychological/sociological/cultural.
