I like to add finally ground cinnamon to my clay. It takes a minute or two to mix it really well, but the ornaments smell like gingerbread. It works with just about any spice, and it truly has a yummy smell too the ornament.

I've used puffy paint many times to make gingerbread ornaments with my kids and we sprinkle Iridescent glitter on the puffy paint before it dries or put a layer of varnish over it or both, because when you put them up for the next year they will stick together

These are lovely. I always give mine a coat of mod podge before I use the paint pens, they draw on much easier. Then I finish with another coat of mod podge.

Yes, the puffy paints do dry soft...like a soft rubber...they are always kind of sticky, tacky and will stick to themselves and other things. They won't rub off, but they will stay soft. We used to use it on clothing items...tee-shirts, jeans, jean jackets...and they always dried squishy, and slightly sticky. 😊
@cjdragonsplanet3509 Жыл бұрын
I use the same brand and the thicker it is the longer it takes to fully cure about 2 weeks and then they don't stick together. It does depend on the temperature in the room. Love your gingerbread houses. I will have to make some for next year's Christmas show.
@fairyspunfibers9098 Жыл бұрын
Oh, these are *_adorable!!!_* 😍💕😊 SO well done, Claire! Yes! Puffy paint will still have a puffy feeling, even after completely curing/drying...whatever! But, after that, even if you dent it with a fingernail, it should spring back.
@mauramaguire8262 Жыл бұрын
In my experience, even when puffy paint is "fully dry" it still takes a little longer in the thicker areas because the under or inner bit still has to dry if that makes sense. But even after that it will always have a somewhat rubbery texture to it, I think that is whatever ingredients make it "puffy". These look beautiful & so authentic! I love your work. Happy Holidays

Oh my days, toooooooo cute! Did you set it with your heat gun or something else? I haven’t used puffy paint, but everywhere I read talks about using a heat gun as it makes the paint puff! it swells or an iron not directly on the paint but just above it…. Can anyone confirm if this is right or not, I am a total novice with this paint….but I will definitely be having a go with it 😊
@LorraineCastellon-Rowe Жыл бұрын
YES!! You can heat the puffy paint and it will puff up like marshmallows!!! I love it!! You need to be careful on these little houses though. If the designs are too close together it'll just look like blobs and not designs. 😊😊😊😊😊

The puffy paint I have needs heating with a craft heat gun, I didn't see you doing this maybe it will be firmer if you heat it a bit.
@Aegopodium Жыл бұрын
Puffy paint stays soft. The problem with thick layers of puffy paint is, that the surface is long dried but the paint underneath is still not. Better let them dry for a lot longer, before stacking them. If you want to avoid that, use puff paint for fabric. It activates under heat. With that you can be sure its dry. It has a different look to it though ..
@ginetteregimbal4882 Жыл бұрын
QUESTION: Has anyone use sealer on top of puffy paint to seal and harden the paint?
@k_pufflz Жыл бұрын
Puffy paint almost ends up being kinda rubbery and since it’s so glossy they can definitely stick I don’t know if there’s a way to seal it off or take away that layer but I think it’s just a side effect of the medium and not that anything was done incorrectly!
@ClairesCraftyCorner Жыл бұрын
thankyou so much xx a few people in my LIVE chat did say that I can heat it up with a heat gun to make it even more puffy - so maybe after this it would be more dry ? It is definitely something to trial and play with xx That is so helpful thank yooo xx

Puffy paint takes a few days to dry hard. And it still will have some give. Don't pick at it. It will come off. "Spongy texture" is what website says.

Yes, that is normal with the puffy paint. It's meant to withstand the wash machine when used on clothing.
