My doctor had indicated that my baby was going to be big. A week toward the end of my pregnancy the doctor would stretch my cervix to help with my labour and hopefully avoid stitches. I was one week overdue and went into labour which was only 6 hours long. I delivered a 9 lbs 13.5 oz baby naturally with absolutely no stitches. I was very grateful my doctor knew how to make my delivery successful. My son is now 32 years old!

Hi Clancy! I had a very similar situation to the nurse you talked to. I had an emergency c-section with my first daughter because she got stuck. Recovery was pretty smooth and went way better than I thought it was going to! When I got pregnant with my second daughter, I was told I was not a good candidate for a VBAC so we scheduled an elective c-section. Long story short, she came much too quickly and there wasn’t time for the cesarean. I ended up having an unmedicated VBAC, and the recovery was much harder! I guess my point is that everybody is different and it’s impossible to predict how things will play out. Try not to stress too much and please don’t freak yourself out with things you read online! As a few other people have mentioned, ultrasound measurements can be wildly inaccurate! Best of luck ❤

Okay there are only 2 recommendations I have (you do whats best for you!) But I def recommend sticking to Plastic Bottles and buying like 1-2 glass bottles until he is able to try them out, Glass is expensive and reflux is VERY common in babies and my sister in law had only glass bottles on her registry so she ended up with like 20glass bottles that she ended up not being able to use because my nephew had reflux, so she had to buy doctor browns (plastic) bottles because they were made specifically for reflux so id definitely wait before splurging on glass! Lol. And The ONLY thing I can say I agree with your doctor on is the epidural, if you're on the fence about it, just do it because if you get to a certain point and change your mind sometimes it'll be too late to get it, also its easier to just start with the epidural apart of your plan than it is to ask for it last min (Especially because there is a higer chance you may need a C-section), my best friend held off with her third baby and she was so tensed up (from being in active labor for hours) that the epidural didnt WORK they tried twice, but because of her adrenaline and everything it just had 0 effect and at that point there isnt anything they can do.... With her 4th Baby she planned the epidural so things went MUCH smoother and my niece was out in 3 pushes! So it just makes the experience much nicer for YOU because you're not focused on the pain, making it the incredibly, empowering experience it should be! Honestly listen to your doctors advice and trust YOUR instincts, you know what best for you and YOUR Son! And PLEASE remember that no matter if you deliver vaginally or via C-section or if you do epidural or no epidural, you're a FREAKING ROCKSTAR who's about to do something incredible that only Mommys can do and thats bring your own soulmate into the world! Sending positive vibes your way for a nice smooth and EASY delivery! ❤

If you don’t already have one - a yoga ball is a great way to open up your hips and help baby move down into your pelvis. Squats as well! I would do some research on things you can do to help open up to get him to move down 🙏🏼 (mom of 3 here so I’m not just talking out of my bum 🤣) I was told this exact thing with my first one, they said I may not be able to deliver her due to the size of pelvis vs baby’s head. Well, I had 3 kids vaginally so it was all fine ;) (and no regrets. There were no major struggles to get them to move down once things got going).

I am so much like you! Having a plan makes me feel more comfortable. I may face fertility issues, but I know God has a plan. He sent me the sweetest rescue puppy and i am blessed to have him. My mom and sister ended up with general anesthesia. My sister’s was due to her epidural not working on one side. I’ve never heard of anyone else needing a c-section for that, so I’m not worrying about that for myself. It was a fluke for my mom, too. My niece had a big head and my sister only got to a 6. Thank you for being real. You haven’t been negative at all! It’s healthy to talk through anxieties and be ok with just ending up with you both healthy! I know it’s hard being a natural planner and trying to prepare your brain for every possibility. It’s a struggle learning to be flexible, but compare it to your nomad life. You had an idea of what to expect, but knew there would be experienced locals with advice, so you went to your AirBNB and adapted. Your family will do the same at the hospital and all getting to know each other for years to come. Baby Boy has already taught you that surprises can be better than plans! I told my sister the same thing you are telling yourself about getting to leave with a baby! I just can’t wait to see Asher’s reaction!

@@ClancyBurkeXDon’t make me cry! I’m good at weddings, but babies get me. My sister was advised to stop after my niece. (Don’t worry-it’s just her. I was the easy child. She manages to have the weirdest health issues. She could have more kids, but she would need blood thinners and she’s already been on them and doesn’t want to risk my niece not having a mom.) BUT my niece will be 21 tomorrow! My mom’s birthday is Friday. I still tell my sister that after 3 days in labor, she could have waited another 6.5 hours so they could share a birthday. My sister was born on my second birthday and we are exact opposites. I typed it all with one finger on my iPad because I need to go check out the new MacBooks if they are out. I probably should have sent it on IG from my phone, but I do things that hard way, obvi. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I know it’s hard for you now because you are just waiting to meet him! Coming from someone who has had two babies: I was in labor for almost 30 hours with my first, but just couldn’t get him out. We went for a c section and he actually had a wound on his head from sitting on my pelvis for so long. My second was a schedule c section. They had to vacuum her out bc she was wedged in my pelvis too. But I will say the recovery from both was easy for me. Just be open-minded. Obviously yours and baby’s safety is priority over the actual avenue it may take for him to get here!! Prayers for you easing the anxiety surrounding birth. ❤️

It’s sounds like you’re going into labor with a great mindset - being open! It’s so hard to know what the right choice is. I’m old (40) and wanted a natural birth. I’m tall and skinny with narrow hips. Husband is very tall. My OB wanted to induce at 40 weeks, but we decided to wait until 41+2. It was 24 hours of labor and I wanted to resist the epidural, but boy did I want it 15 hours in once the contractions came on strong and fast. Once it was time to push, I pushed for 45 minutes and delivered a 8lb 7oz baby. My OB said I was an excellent pusher - the key was to push like you’re pooping (and I did, literally)! I couldn’t even feel the contractions bc of the epidural. The downside is that it took a good 6 months for my pelvic floor to feel back to normal. Good luck with whatever you choose! ❤

I think the best thing you can do & best thing you have done is prepare for all avenues that labor & delivery can take, even preparing for unmedicated labor is a good idea even if you planned an epidural. My third baby that I had in June was an average size baby (6.5lbs) & he got stuck on my pelvic bone or something lol I was in a ton of pain & I got checked. I was 3cm. They sent me home. 35 minutes later I was in transition & got to the hospital. 20 minutes after arriving & of pushing, I held my son. No time for pain meds so I’m SO thankful that I did my research on coping without medication!! my other two babies where 5lbs & 8lbs & came out in three pushes & honestly you just never know… prepare your mind for all possibilities to relieve stress in the moments that could come. I didn’t get an epidural with my last & it was amazing but boyyyy was it hard. It’s 90% mental for sure lol You got this Clancy!! 💕 you’re doing a wonderful job! I had a baby 20 years ago so I know things have changed but let me give you my experience just so you have the info. My doctor repeatedly told me my son was about 7 pounds. I wound up going to 40 weeks 3 days and was induced. I labored for 36 hours and then my son was born vaginally although they had to use vacuum suction to get him out. He was 9 pounds 4 ounces. He basically ripped me apart. My recovery was terrible and my bladder control has never ever been the same. If I could go back in time I would have demanded a C-section because I think recovery would have been a ton easier. I wish both you and baby a healthy delivery no matter what you decide. 💙

Yes lol it’s true I had a 6lb baby boy & struggled getting him out I pushed for 3hrs & my epidural failed (it doesn’t work for everyone). Dr offered an emergency c-section or vacuum (baby’s heart rate dropped). I picked the vacuum & baby would still not come out until he did an episiotomy. I was left with a 3rd degree tear, an incision, horrible hemorrhoids from pushing, & a baby who had to be resuscitated/rushed to NICU. I’m currently pregnant with baby girl due in November hoping it’s better this time around🤞🏼I also have an experience with my ultrasound being way off. I was told the whole time baby’s abdomen was abnormally small. It stressed me out so much just for him to be born completely normal. By the way that Moms on Call book was a life saver!! I bought it when my baby was 10weeks old & I was so horribly sleep deprived I was ready for sleep training. I followed the sleep training schedule & methods from that book. Baby was sleep trained in 2 days, he would sleep 12 hrs straight (7pm-7am). It helped me feel like myself again. He’s about to be 3 in November & he still so well trained for his daytime naps. He will hop into bed once he sees me close the black out curtains & play the white noise he knows what to do.

I'm going to say my birth story as a ounce of hope. My daughter was induced at 40 weeks and 1 day. She was 5lbs 4oz when born and an 18 hr labor. My son was almost 8lbs when born and was a 13hr labor but my water broke a week early,he was more complicated as far as my second water bag didn't break on it's own and my cervix wasn't opening all the way but he was still totally natural. I'll see how baby #3 goes in april but you got this girl,do what's best for you. And btw I see a lot of comments saying others vaginal births were horrible to recover from and i've never had a csection so i can't compare but I can say the 1st time I had stitches and felt fully normal after a week. The 2nd were no stitches and I felt fine in 3 days.

My first born was an emergency c-section after many, many hours of labour and not progressing past 4cm (don't want to scare you with numbers). I was utterly exhausted, and don't remember much of the first night. He was average weight and length, but it turned out he had a very large head, and would never have come out vaginally. (This son wore adult-size hats at 8 yrs old.) Second pregnancy - I was 35 so they did an amniocentesis (this son is now 29, so things have changed a bit since) to find out gender and if there were chromosomal issues. He was a planned c-section at 38 weeks because they thought he would have the same issue his elder brother did. Nope. He was so much smaller that they thought. All this to say - each birth is different and planned c-sections are much easier to recover from than emergency ones.

I live in the Cincinnati area too. I highly highly suggest once upon a child! There’s one in west Chester and if you go on a day they have clearance on sale you can get some clothing items for $1 especially when they get bigger. It’s super convenient to sell to them too!

I almost never buy anything new for my kiddo because they grow out of the clothes so so fast and most outfits only get worn once. I do buy new if it’s for a special occasion like planned family photos or birthdays. ❤

Small tip - you may want to avoid eating the avocado toast with everything bagel seasoning from Dunkin before giving birth (I understand, the avocado toast is so good and one of my favorite items too!) The reason is because the poppyseeds in the everything bagel seasoning might make your drug test positive after you give birth. There have been instances where the baby was taken away because the mom tested positive on a drug test after giving birth and she had eaten poppyseeds.

It really does depend who does the cervical checks. One of my nurses in the hospital hurt me soooo bad lol I literally was like ok I’ll wait for my midwives in the future 😂😂😂😂

Clancy, I really appreciate how level headed you are about the birth and how you are going to stick to what feels right/safe for the baby and you. It’s admirable. I think I’ve said it before but, I know you are going to be such a great mom! You are a natural!

You have to take the doctors estimated baby weight as a grain of salt. They told me my son was huge, that I would struggle in birth. He was 18 inch and 6lbs at 40 weeks! So.. trust me, it’s just a number! Also I have a great friend who is a tiny tiny person and gave birth naturally, in a tube, no medication, 10lbs! They had no idea her baby was so big and I cannot believe her little petite body pushed that whole human out! A woman’s body is so capable of the unknown!

Yeah same for both my boys & they were both 5lbs

I pushed out a 10lb baby with a head in the 99 percentile, first baby and I weighed 110lbs pre pregnancy, I think there are actual few cases where it’s not possible to fit a baby in the birth canal but obviously trust your instincts and look at the information given to you by your doctor but don’t feel pressured into anything. I’m sure everything will be fine ❤

First, can you make us a 1 - or 2 minute pre-recorded video. Saying you're going to the hospital to have the baby❤? Other KZbin channels I've watched did that, and it was just very exciting! My story/advice for you. I ended up getting pre-eclampsia 1 month early. My doctor said to go to L&D to just get checked out. Well, the doctors came in and said, " Guess what, you're having your baby." I was given the choice for a natural, but i would have to take these pills every 3 hours, for at least 36 hours before they would start pitocin. My baby also did 3 summer salts that day, but the 3rd he was head down. Or I could have a c-section in an hour. They said the choice is completely up to me and left the room, so i could talk with my husband and mom. We were weighing the pros and cons, and obviously, it was my choice. I just had this feeling that if i chose natural, it would take days, and i would end up having an emergency c section anyway. I ultimately decided to do the c section. I could either have my baby in my arms in an hour and a half. Or hope to have a natural birth, spending hours of the unknown and possible c-section. For me personally, I made the right choice for me. He was born at exactly midnight and 11 seconds, and the whole operating room erupted in cheers (they hadn't had a midnight baby in a long time). As I was being wheeled back my one doctor whispered to me you made a good choice, im glad i did it. The doctors are not going to tell you what choice you should decide because it is your choice. (Unless there is some emergency.) They don't want to pressure you either way because its ultimately what you would feel most comfortable with, and there is no wrong choice. It is very difficult to be put in that situation i know, but you do what your heart tells you to do❤! I will say one silly plus side of choosing a c-section is your baby will have a perfectly shaped head, lol 😆. Just wanted to give you a laugh. Again, go with what you feel is right for you and baby! Much love, excitement, and prayers!!! 🩵💙🩵

You have a good attitude going into child birth. Being flexible is key. I wish people would stop calling birth plans, "plans". They are more like parameters. Ultimately, your body and baby will have their own plan!

My advice is advocating for yourself. I had a lot of decisions taken away from me during my birth and I often wonder what would have happened if things had gone differently. She’s amazing and I would do it all again for her, but next baby I will be doing things differently for my sake.

The epidural saved me. The pain was unbelievable before, and I was only at 4cm dilated! It's a brief pinch and then you find sweet sweet relief.

Roomy Pelvis sounds like a great name for a band. Sleep better when the baby's here? Uh.... I have some news for you. ;-) As a father of two grown girls, the first kid you obsess about everything and almost none of it really matters. The second kid, you let them play with knives. ;-)

Personally I wouldn't opt for a c section unless baby was breech. Once you have a c section you will most likely getting one for future kids.

My twins measurements were so so off and I felt like I was pushed into a C-section based on those incorrect measurements. After having my 3rd baby normally (no C-section) I wished I didn’t opt for a C-section the first time around. Either way baby will get here! My Csection recovery was just really hard!

Both times I was told my babies were huge, had a 6 pound and 7 pound baby (same with you told that he was 6 pounds at like 35 weeks), but ultimately listen to your instincts and your doctor. If one way feels less scary, then go with that, but it’s great that you have an open mind!

I usually don’t leave comments but I feel you should do what’s best for you and give your body the opportunity to tell you what’s best for you.
