Unless intervention is NEEDED it tends to lead to more intervention which naturally brings more chance for complications. Don’t let them scare you into a scheduled induction because it’s convenient for them, if it’s not something you truly truly want. Sending the best wishes for however it turns out!!

Sure Zac can go buy some or whatever but when it's the middle of the night and you're both drained and everything is closed, you're going to want some goodies right on hand. You could use Grayson instead of just Gray. My boys are Morgan and Ryan. Nothing outrageous. Ryan was going to be Quin, but we used that as his middle name. Kind of wish we’d stuck with it for a first name. One thing to keep in mind, though, is to figure out what his initials might spell. Kids can be cruel.

Happy belated birthday Clancy!! I just gave birth last week and definitely overpacked but the things I thought were super useful were the Frida mom peri bottle, nipple butter, electrolytes, easy to eat snacks (ex. sticks of honey, little packs of peanut butter, jerky), headphones, a portable fan, a reusable water bottle, and a towel. The hospital does provide a peri bottle but it’s really hard to aim, the Frida mom one is angled and I’ve still been using it every day! Also I know you talked about going with the flow for labor (medicated vs not), I didn’t get an epidural and my labor was 20 hours. I made a birth playlist which I listened to during early labor and the towel was nice after getting in and out of the shower/tub cause their towels are small. My husband fed me the snacks and electrolytes and used the fan on me when I was in transition cause I was super hot! Also if your hospital doesn’t provide one, a birth ball might be useful too. It probably seems like a lot but I feel like these things really made it possible for me to cope and stay energized. Also I know you might not need these things if you end up getting a scheduled C-section but if not these tools could help!! I hope you have a safe and positive delivery ❤️❤️

i had a 2 vessel umbilical cord, they told me i had to go to a specialist and my baby could possibly not grow past 3lbs (in utero) and he could have kidney issues and all these things.. then when i was 8 months pregnant they said my baby was going to be close to 10lbs and i’d need a c section. to the point where if i made it to my 40 week appointment, a c section date was going to happen. i went into labor at 39 weeks and 4 days and my baby was 7lbs 14oz and no issues. it’s so nerve wracking when you’re pregnant and so much information is being thrown at you but try not to get to scared. everything will work out!!

Happy (belated) Birthday, Clancy! You look great. I do think you’ve dropped some. It’s probably why you’re feeling more pressure, especially if he’s on the bigger side/unable to engage in the birth canal. I was in a VERY similar situation with my son. He was a big baby. I did end up having a c-section. Everyone is different but my recovery wasn’t bad at all. Much like you I worked out (modified) as long as I could/felt comfortable. I think that helped with recovery. The perry bottle they give works just fine and the hospital gown is just fine you don’t need a fancy one. I just took an extra pair of pajamas, post partum undies, some clothes for the baby, a charger, snacks and a change of clothes for my husband, oh and toiletries.

From someone that went from a doctor's office (at 30 weeks!) straight to the hospital and gave birth a week later, you really only need your phone charger, the car seat installed, and a coming home outfit for the baby. I watched someone on KZbin pack a set of string lights for "ambiance". Spoiler alert, they never used them.

Hi Clancy! As a new boy mom myself, I love watching your pregnancy journey! I just HAD to share when you mentioned the hospital providing things. They definitely DO have everything you need. HOWEVER, and this was HUGE, they charge you for a lot at the end of your stay. Every time they offered the cooling spray, witch hazel pads, creams, etc. it was a charge. I don’t know why I didn’t think each individual item would be ticking up on the bill. It was nice not to have to bring everything, BUT their costs are much higher and me saying yes, give me it all, was v expensive 😅

Every baby I brought less to the hospital. By my 5th delivery, everything I knew I needed just fit into my purse. Every one of my babies was smaller than predicted by ultrasound. Ultrasound estimates are usually pretty off at the end. I'm smaller than you, 5'0, very petite with a small pelvic area, and I never had trouble delivering. Honestly, when my OBs have told me is many OBs prefer c-sections because they earn more money and they can schedule/determine timing, opposed to natural labor. Many OBs would say baby is too big, when they wouldn't even know that until Mom was pushing. My prior OB is now head of OB/GYN at our hospital and has stopped c-sections done due to that, which has cut c-sections yearly by a whopping 40%,

Evan, Oliver, Elliot, Cohen are all great names! Also, you can leave the hospital without filling out your son’s birth certificate information. Don’t feel pressured to fill it out then. The hospital will hold the certificate until you call them with your son’s name. So many people don’t know that. I did this with my daughter for a week until we got to know her and felt sure about her name. It’s a big decision.

Our son was 17 days past due when they finally agreed to induce. Turns out he was rotated and his shoulders were preventing her water from breaking. After inducing, the doctor had to go up in there and rotate him 90° and use forceps while he had one foot up on the birthing table for leverage. It was a traumatic sight to behold. He finally came out at 10lbs and has a scar next to his eye to this day, 32 years later (DOB 9/25/92) due to the forceps. Plus my wife needed reconstructive surgery a year later. He should have been cesarean like our daughter was four years later.

My baby was predicted to be 9+lbs and was only 7lb 9oz but she was also breech and I was SO glad to have a c section. Her head was and still is 99th percentile and my doctor wasn’t confident that she would fit through my pelvis so her being breech felt like a blessing because I didn’t have to make the decision. A c section felt more controlled for me and I had no complications and was out of bed 6 hours later, so definitely going with a c section for baby #2 as well. Best of luck!
