And in that one he was much more badass and foul-mouthed Hearing him like this, especially that level of grief and agony in his voice, is a stark contrast as to what I'd heard before. @Casey12345ism: They do die. Nagisa, Ushio, and Tomoya(him due to grief while holding his dead daughter) all die. Tomoya was given one wish due to the glowing orb he got when thanking and forgiving his father. As he died, the wish process had started, his wish comes true by sending him to an alternate world of where Nagisa does NOT die. Which is why he still has memories of Nagisa and Ushio dying. That Robot was him in the other world, and once he remembered everything, his wish was ready.

She was literally the sweetest and kindest girl in the show, she saw nothing but happiness in the world but the show had to curse her with that Illness, why? She didn’t even get to see her daughter grow up or even smile, the reason this show hits different is because this can actually happen to anyone even me in the future, losing the person you love the most after giving birth is so much for a man to handle and then to lose your daughter not that long after your wife is the final blow and the fact he died from a broken heart so how much pain he was in cause he lost the only happiness and reason he had for living

There are people who have only watched Clannad: After Story. But personally to me, without watching Clannad first, the impact After Story has on you is nothing. Because Clannad really bonds you to the main characters, especially Tomoya and Nagisa towards the middle/end of it. Making the flashbacks a whole lot more powerful and moving. Because it's like you were there with them at that moment.

It's because we saw what kind of person she was that makes this so sad. We saw how she went from being a bit of a crybaby to being a brave young woman, who was so selfless that she knew she'd probably die giving birth, but wanted to have Tomoya's child anyway. Nagisa's death is the saddest, and I cried more during this scene and the ones without her than I have ever cried at any funeral I can remember. It's a sick thing to realize, but it just shows you how well done this anime was made.

This is still one of my favorite scenes from the show. It's so sad, beautiful, touching, truthful, and just plain memorable. I only found out about Clannad by watching a video of the top 10 saddest anime deaths and Nagisa's was #1. I was so moved by that 4 minutes scene, so I watched both season in about a month have been in love with the series and music for 6 months now. Thanks for putting this scene up in English! ( ' ' )

When I got to this episode I already knew that Nagisa was going to die and that I had adjusted to the fact and that I wasn't going to be sad. By the end I cried two tears but that meant a lot to me. No tv show or movie had ever made me cry before. Clannad changed me a little and I will never forget that.

"We never, should have met." lt stung first time l heard those words, that he wanted to forget meeting her at the foot of that hill. To forget all the fun he had and the joy that Nagisa gave him. He would have never lived life if it wasn't for that first meeting, and he wanted to trade all that? To go back to the hopeless void that was his life before then? l'd smack him for even thinking about walking away.

Clannad had focus on a lot of other characters (and so did the beginning of AS), so seeing the focus suddenly shift to Tomoya and Nagisa really makes it all the more powerful. Cannot agree more. This scene is by far the saddest part of the whole series, which is saying a lot considering this is probably the saddest series I've ever seen. Totally worth the tears, though.

"We...never..should have met." lf you never met the both of you would still be trapped in your own voids, you wouldn't have had something to look forward to every morning. Nagisa would have never accomplished her goals, and you would still be wondering why you are even alive probablly even think suicide later. You would have never experienced happiness. lf you never met you would still suffer, not from loss of a loved one but lack of a loved one. There is no worse fate than dying alone.

i knew she would die due to youtube looking for nagisas theme >.> even still i cried so much that i didnt want to go to work which i had to leave for pretty much straight after this episode. I grew to care about this cast of charathers which pretty much only 2 series/movies ive seen have managed to do (im quite critical about everything i watch) it just goes to show how well written the story is and how well the voice cast preformed. I love how the made the charathers so relateable and likeable

@Fullmetal642 ADV Films, which is now Sentai, dubbed all of Key's works. For Kanon and Air, Funimation only released the box sets for Air and Kanon and finished the last four episodes for Kanon. ADV did all the dubbing

When I first watch Clannad I wasn't sure why it was so popular it was basically the same as Air and Kanon, but then I got to After Story and it hit hard that the series is a masterpiece, nothing against Sentai but I wish Funimation dubbed Clannad as it did with Air and Kanon, who in my opinion had a phenomenal dubbing cast, while Clannad depended on the episode some major scenes where done well and some were lack luster and could have been better.

Its a complicated explanation. But to keep it simple, Remember the legend of the glowing orbs and if you collect one you get a wish? Well Tomoya collected one unknowingly once he thanked his dad with Ushio. Nagisa, Ushio, and Tomoya all die. Tomoya dies right after ushio due to so much grief. His wish was to have his family together and happiness. I would get into the whole alternate world thing that plays a part but who cares. Everyone lives. Happy ending. That's all that matters.
