My biggest issue with Power Pages is the pricing, the fact MS is charging per anonymous user or in blocks of 500 is just insane really and rules it out for being used in the majority of public facing scenarios
@HoneyBadgerJAB Жыл бұрын
Exactly!! I was thinking about leveraging my own 365 account to build public facing sites for various businesses. The set up is almost perfect but then to your point of blocks of 500, it just gets ugly.

Hey there! Thanks for your comment. I understand your frustration with the pricing of Power Pages. Microsoft's pricing model can be a bit tricky to navigate, especially for public-facing scenarios. I'll look into this further and see if I can provide more information in my upcoming videos. Appreciate your feedback!

Outstanding review. Given the bones of Pages, bootstrap UI framework, it's clear to me that Pages is the future of Power Apps. The canvas & model driven (in app experience) isn't a modern UX.
@DeShonClark2 жыл бұрын
thanks Eric for watching. I was super shocked to learn they were using bootstrap, especially with all of their fuss with forcing SPFx to use their Fluent UI framework. If nothing else, I thought they would go the Fluent UI route.

This is the best explanation of the Power Pages offering I've been able to find. Thank you!. I've been building Power Apps canvas apps with SharePoint and Power Automate for about three years. This video is almost two years old, so I'm wondering how much, if any, has changed about the offering. I'm interested in the trusted user scenario you mentioned so that I can build event organizing platforms for up to 100 users for the duration of an event planning process (up to 1 year).

Loved the presentation and video, DeShon. Great job. I found it genuinely funny when you were exaggerating this technology as magical, magician. This indeed uses Dataverse to build the views, forms and to load the data I think power app pages websites and some of their templates look like 90s and boring. I am not sure how any customer would be interested in implementing this. When you see the comparable wordpress websites like webflow, they have great UI and looks very professional. Hope MS moves faster towards better UI technology to implement in their power app pages.

Thanks for your feedback! I understand your perspective on the UI of Power App Pages. It's true that other web-building platforms may have a more visually appealing design. However, it's important to note that Power App Pages are focused more on functionality and ease of use, rather than aesthetics. Microsoft is continuously working on improving the user experience, so I'm optimistic that they will make strides in that area as well.

Really good video thanks, will be checking out more of your stuff. Considering using Power Pages instead of Power Apps for a semi-internal data capture thing for various reasons. Main issues I've hit so far are not seeming to have much control over the Profile pages (other than hiding stuff with JS/CSS) and there being no SSO (maybe something can be achieved using JS?). I thought I had a fundamental issue in not being able to capture the ID of the user / contact who had submitted a form, but found a good article showing how to do this using attributes / entity form metadata. All feels a bit preview-y still though.

Very exciting especially the embracing of bootstrap, I hope this is a product that sticks. In the future what do you think are the ramifications of Power Pages now using bootstrap in the background vs the direction MS has been taking with SPO & other services with fluid UI/Office UI Fabric?
@DeShonClark Жыл бұрын
I thought this was an interesting move by Microsoft as well. I think Bootstrap opens up the UI to more UI developers because of its history and longevity. Just wish Microsoft would pick one for all workloads

Hi, Is there another way to pull the existing PowerApps Dataverse table from PowerPages?
@DeShonClark Жыл бұрын
Hi there! Thanks for your comment. I'm glad you're interested in exploring PowerPages further. To answer your question, you can definitely pull an existing PowerApps Dataverse table into PowerPages. However, the specific details of how to do this would require a more in-depth explanation. I'll make a note to create a video or tutorial on this topic in the future. Stay tuned for more content!

Is Power Pages using Outlook or Microsoft bookings to pull a users current availability for appointments?

Great question, I have not dug into the details of this template. But my guess it will use the GraphAPI to finding available times (which is what Bookings uses under the hood)

Great video - best I have seen on power pages. Is there any mechanism to have Power Pages work for subscribers to a SaaS? Can one use the Dataverse to store and update curated data and then grant access to that data through power pages to subscribers?
@DeShonClark Жыл бұрын
from what I'm reading this is possible using data verse roles. so the role of the user determines the data they can see...

Since seeing PowerPages for the first time on launch. My next thought is will Microsoft long term replace the SharePoint backend azure Sql with Dataverse? That would make.logocal sense Whether it makes business sense for them is another matter. Anyway I want to see how pagesanages handling file uploads etc. As that is a big piece missing on the M365 side. By that I mean Data and file uploads together.
@DeShonClark2 жыл бұрын
hey Phil! Great hearing from you again. You are right, make sense that Microsoft would gravity towards one date repo and UI standard. The fact that Pages is using bootstrap vs. fluent UI is very interesting. Dataverse is currently a premium data repo, which fills a lot of gaps that SharePoint cannot. Dataverse can be very expensive if not planned correctly, as the data storage can be very pricy, especially when storing files with the data
@Worrelpa2 жыл бұрын
@@DeShonClark anything Powerplatform get expensive if you don't know what to look for. We still have this legacy of different business units doing their own thing and taking up different standards. Makes it hard to know where you spend your time on what technologies to learn.

Hey there! I'm glad you found the video helpful. As for the cost of using Dataverse, it can vary depending on your specific needs and usage. Microsoft provides different pricing options for Dataverse, so it's best to check their website or consult with a Microsoft representative to get the most accurate and up-to-date information on pricing. They can help you determine the cost based on your specific requirements. Let me know if there's anything else I can help with!

Power Pages pricing doesn't make sense. The value proposition is solid and powerful, but the pricing structure makes it a very expensive product
@DeShonClark Жыл бұрын
Hi there! Thanks for your comment. I understand your concern about the pricing structure for Power Pages. Pricing for new products and features can often be a complex topic, and it's important for Microsoft to ensure they are providing value for their customers. As a content creator, I don't have access to specific pricing details for Power Pages, but I suggest reaching out to Microsoft directly for more information. They will be able to provide you with the most accurate and up-to-date pricing details. Let me know if there's anything else I can help with!
